Throwing in the same old villains again though not only kills tension (since you know they won't do anything) but it actually cheapens their uniqueness in viewer's minds, ESPECIALLY if they're joke characters that run the large risk of overstaying their welcome. On a side note, "standing up to someone stronger than you is more important than being stronger than them" really does sound like something a weakling would say. Thankfully Laxus can kick some serious ass.

Also when he said "It doesn't matter how strong you are, as long as you stand up to the one you wish to defy" He gave a nod to Natsu as a call back to when Natsu stood up to him back in the FT Civil War arc. He acknowledged Natsu out of respect. Bolt boy has gone and grown up during his venturing of the world =D Sorry, these past two episodes made me a massive mark for Laxus. I also love a good redemption story.
