I needed to check in on this episode. It really is just a total stomp.
He starts off the fight proving that he could beat them without having to really try. Letting them go after ragdolling them both into the windows.
Then he proved that he outclassed them both together as a lightsaber duelist, though he did get pressed once or twice in that 2v1 and had to use the force a bit.
Ending everything with a good emotional scarring of Maul.
All in all, a beautiful fight that just helps give us context for why this is the big bad evil guy.

Yeah that fight went about as I expected for Maul. Sidious is as brilliant as he is a user of the force and is also a very skilled lightsaber user. He's arguably the most powerful Sith to have ever lived. If nothing else, he is the most powerful since The Sith Empire was at its apex so many centuries ago.

They brought in Tim Curry as Palpatine. That is genius casting. I really wish they did more with Tim Curry’s Palpatine. It’s freaking Pennywise and Doctor Frank N Furter

The way Maul and Obi-Wan lost people that day is great. Obi-Wan held Satine the same way that he held the rest of Maul’s victims. It took Savage’s death for Maul to acknowledge him as family.

It is very interesting to see The Clone Wars from a perspective of only seeing the original trilogy. You discover that not only you see an epic sword fight, you discover that The Chancellor is the Sith Lord who has orchestrated The Clone Wars and has played both sides this whole time to become Emperor and you were suspicious of Palpatine from the start of this series (the Prequels made it obvious who he is in those movies), made for a great perspective that I never thought of and I have been a Star Wars fan my whole life.

That's not the chancellor. The Sith Lord wears a hood, The Chancellor does not wear a hood, Therefore he cant be the Chancellor. Man, pay attention guys.

It's such a fun fight to watch! You can just tell palpatine is having the best time messing with the brothers, just giggling maniacally the whole time. The voice actor must have had great fun recording it.

RIP Ian Abercrombie - This was the final episode he voiced for the Chancellor and what an episode to go out on. Unfortunatetly this is around the same time DIsney took over and it was at the end of this season that we all found out that Clone Wars was going to be cancelled. Afterwards they released a season 6 on Netflix that was just about half the number of episodes as a normal season (these were just their finished episodes they never got a chance to air). So the planned story arc that leads from Palpatines line, 'I'm not going to kill you, I have other uses for you.' only takes place in the form of 4 comics. (Darth Maul Son of Dathomir) Years later Disney brought back the team to make a season 7 (12 episodes) to finally wrap up the show and give it an ending but there are many story arcs that we missed out on, some of which we get to see in other forms of media like books and comics. The reason I'm mentioning it is because Maul does make a return in the final season for an arc but that story is well passed the point of the next story and well there's a lot of important stuff that happens before that point that unfortunately you won't get to see in the show. If you are interested in seeing it there is a youtube channel (The Lore Master) that has made an audio comic movie out of the 4 comics. (Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir Full Audio Comic Movie [Star Wars Audio Comics]) It's a 40 minute video with voice acting that's the closest thing we'll get to just watching an episode of the clone wars. Could be something to just watch on your own time to catch you up with the story if you're interested although if you decide to react to it for the youtube channell I'd reccomend placing it at the end of season 6 just before going into season 7.

Ah, finally I have waited for this episode since we started. Now you have witnessed the FULL POWER OF THE DARKSIDE! Note how Palpatine took both brothers on alone and not only won but also toyed with them while the weak, pathetic Jedi lost to just Savage two-on-one and of course lost to the Brothers together. This shows the power gap... Also just to explain why Palpatine got involved. He sensed Maul becoming too powerful in the dark side and could become a rival to his leadership as the Dark Lord of the Sith i.e the master of the Sith through the fact we Sith crave power at any cost when there are many of us we often fight each other so in order to prevent that the rule of 2 was created so the Sith didn't constantly kill each other while yes they still try during the rule of two with the mind games and 3d chess played between the master and the apprentice that I love but its more controlled and often just mean the apprentice takes the Masters place in the rule of 2 but pre rule of 2 if you have separate Sith masters and apprentices with their own plans and goals like Maul and his brother they often will fight each other and do more damage then any Jedi could and instead of taking the place of the other in a plan since they have different plans they just keep resetting to zero. 2nd this is also a faction that Lord Sidious/ Palpatine had no control of a true wild card because he does truly control both the republic and the separatist and for his grand plan to succeed he must be in control of every major faction so hence he dealt with it and I don't think its explained any where why he went himself and didn't send his apprentice or minions like usual but in my opinion it is because he sensed that the two together would be too much for his apprentice and perhaps even a possibility that the brothers could convince his apprentice to join them so Sidious/Palpatine went and handled matters himself is what I think...

Palpatine is considered possibly the most powerful Sith in history (although that is up for debate). He is puppeting both the Republic and the Separatists (remember, you see Dooku taking orders from him and calling him master in episodes prior to this). Not only that, he is doing it while placing himself right next to the Jedi Order, and they have no idea that it's him (due to him clouding their visions). They even act as his guards some of the time, which I'm sure he finds hilarious. He very rarely throws down himself as he prefers to be the one working from the shadows, but he's fully capable of taking on just about anyone as shown here.
It is fun to see you finding things out through this series, as most fans already saw the movies where a lot of this was revealed.

I've been looking forward to this, Sheev Palpatine is Darth Sidious, the great puppet master, the one pulling all the strings behind the scenes of the entire franchise.
You've not put it together yet but you've met Palpatine's apprentice, you've seen the two talking together, you just didn't realise it was Palpatine, his current apprentice is the leader of the separatists Count Dooku. That's not a spoiler by the way, that part is pretty out in the open in the series since Dooku's talked to him a few times already.
Yep, he's really controlling all sides. That's also why he demanded Dooku to get rid of his own apprentice Ventress, because of the rule of two, that there can only be an apprentice and a master, because one Will eventually betray the other

Palpatine could have easily defeated the brothers with the Force alone (he let them go after pinning them to the windows, after all). He actually sees lightsabers as a crutch, but uses them to humiliate his opponents. He's more than capable of winning most fights without engaging in close combat.
The current apprentice would be a certain Darth Tyranus. I'm sure the name has been mentioned once or twice before in the show, but will feature a bit more in future episodes. You're supposed to know who he is anyway at this point, but I won't be giving a clear answer, unless you want one.
And, well, you can probably tell where Palpatine's interest in Anakin is heading...
