2023-09-03 23:28:34 +0000 UTCAfter all this time Sakura has her own magic and fully made the cards hers, it's a fantastic episode and they did a fantastic job making it. I'll tell you some details from the manga that were cut from the anime, but I'll save part of it for next episode. Right after Sakura clears the darkness her father shows up without a clue what's going on, he was unaffected by Clow Reed's spell. Clow explains it's because Sakura's dad is his other self, that when Clow Reed died he split his soul in two halves that eventually reincarnated as Eriol and Fujitaka, but only Eriol kept Clow Reed's magic and memories, he asks Sakura to perform a spell for him to split his magic and give half of it to Sakura's dad, Clow needed someone who's magic is even stronger than him to split his magic in half, he's incapable of doing it himself so... Sakura is now the most powerful magic user in the world, It's honestly an amazing twist in the story, so it's a shame it was cut from the anime. Clow had multiple reasons for why he's done everything he has, but they'll partly be explained next episode, and the parts that aren't I'll explain in the comments. The important thing really is that both Eriol and Fujitaka are separate reincarnations of Clow Reed's split soul, meaning Sakura is technically the daughter of Clow Reed, that's also why she's the princess of the Clow Kingdom in Tsubasa, you can see elements of Clow in Fujitaka actually in how they're both very gentle, soft spoken and can be caring, plus both are scholars. We technically have two final episodes by the way, the anime's final episode and an OVA made in 2017 that's more faithful to the manga, they actually brought back a lot of the original voice cast as well.
