Truth!

even with that massive numbers difference, Faramir and his men managed the hold the city for a full day before being overrun. Really shows the skill of Gondor's soldiers

I do think Smeagol feels immense guilt for killing his brother. His mind and heart got twisted up by his desire for the ring and the things it put in his head. He was so tortured his brain created a second personality. I somewhat dislike how they all dismissed Saruman after he died. I do feel at least Gandalf would mourn his dead former friend. Theoden I get feeling satisfied as in his shoes seeing Saruman dead was what he wanted. THe scene was also cut from the theatrical version. So technically in that one, Saruman is just a prisoner in his tower. I sometimes view Smeagol and Sam as the Devil and Angel in Frodo's ears. Sam is on his side 100%, but Smeagol is just using him at this point, trying to twist his mind to where he only trusts him. I was actually pissed at Theoden's pettiness. This war is bigger than him and Rohan; if Gondor falls, then all of Middle Earth is fooked. The Elves are leaving en masse, The Dwarven Kingdoms would stand no chance, and the other various nations would fall. Having Pippin and Merry seperate actually makes me tear up, since they've been a pair thier whole lives and through the entire film series. And I agree with you and Gandalf, Pippin is a fool, almost to a childlike point, but he's a good and kind person. He's also how we got Treebeard and The Ents to join the war and eliminate Saruman and Isengard. Reforging the one sword that cut Sauron? I bet he'll react to that like how Kaido reacted to seeing Enma being wielded by Zoro. 54:20 Peter Jackson was actually one of the guys on that ship. The Witch King is Sauron's ace in the hole. Of the Nazghul, he is by far the most terrifying and is the bossman to the other 8. That big beam in the sky was The Witch King and Sauron's way of saying "We're on our way to destroy your city." That's why the soldiers freaked out and Gandalf put a comforting arm around Pippin. Even Gandalf was struck with a degree of fear from that sight. If I am not mistaken, Saruman had 10,000+ Uruk-Hai, but Mordor has something like hundreds of thousands of Orcs. In addition to them, the Haradrim & their Mumakil(The big Elephants), Corsair Pirates, Easterlings(Armored guys you saw in Two Towers that almost caught Sam and Frodo at The Black Gate), and numerous Moutain Trolls. I think Theoden reconsiders his stance due to what happened to his own country and could not actually bring himself to ignore Gondor's call for aid. He probably considered the lives of the citizens and how their deaths would weigh on him. Some context on Denethor(Boromir and Faramir's father) He was using the palantir(orb that Saruman had) to gauge Sauron's strength and when he learned how strong Sauron's forces were on top of his wife dying, he became crazed and bitter. He is an ass, but I do feel bad for him. A lot of bad things happened to him that made him this way, of course, this doesnot excuse how he treats Faramir, who only wants to win his father's approval.

" Golem I swear to f*** if I hear one More veiled thread out of you, I will ride you down this flight of stairs like a toboggan. Your head will bounce on each and every step. And the orks at the bottom won't even care. They'll throw up 10 and then keep on marching. So threaten me or Mr. Frodo just one more time, please."

What I saw of him was just terrible!

Spaz Boys Comedy

I've been waiting for this one, it's my favorite of the trilogy

FantasiA

In the book, he wasn't even killed. He was exiled from middle Earth, but he lived.

StylishJack

He was also one of if not the only member of the cast to have actually met tolkin in real life.

The Saruman's death scene was completely cut in the theatrical version. The last we saw of him, until these extended editions came out, was him looking down at the ents destroying Isengard at the end of the second movie. A major, very powerful villain getting zero closure and just kinda being ignored bye everyone, with no comment on if he's even dead or alive. One of the only big misses of the original releases imo. IIRC, when the news came out that a deleted scene showed his fate, there was a bunch of petitions to restore it.

"The last journey of Arwen" was quite literal, when elves grow tired of their endless lives on Middle Earth they go to the Grey Havens, its a...weird place to describe. Its heaven, but in the physical world, its connected to the world of middle earth but its not part of it, theres only one way you can sail there but theres no going back, and usually none but elves are permitted to go there. When elves die their spirits go to the halls of Mandos, the god of afterlife, in the grey havens, and after a while they can regain their bodies and go about their life as if nothing major happened, though they cannot return to Middle Earth again. Those that die or go there spend the rest of eternity in peace and harmony, corporeal or not. Regarding Denethor, he just makes me sad honestly. He was a good person and a good ruler once, even a good father, but something the movies don't showcase is his slow descent into madness. Being on the border of mordor his entire reign, constantly keeping the other kingdoms of man safe from invasion, it takes a toll. Like Boromir mentioned "by the blood of our people, are your lands kept safe". Another reason for his state is that Denethor also has a Palantir like Saruman did, the seeing orb that Saruman used to talk to Sauron. Over time, indirectly, Sauron used the Palantir to drive him mad

There's a story about Christopher Lee, the actor who played Saruman, was talking to the director about the scene where he gets stabbed by Wormtongue. The director was describing how to act after getting stabbed and Christopher Lee said "Have you any idea what king of noise happens when someone is stabbed in the back? Because I do." He was a World War II vet so had first hand experience with that so the director just let him do his thing with that scene heh.

He is such an abysmal POS!

Extremely powerful!

Yup.

Is this the extended edition?

I teared up when the beacons were lit. I think I always do when I watch this movie, it's such a momentous scene!

Ah yes Denethor the A+ parent. Also can you imagine what it must be like to grow up like Boromir. You have all this responsibility on your shoulders, and every day when you wake up you see mount doom just sitting there waiting to destroy everything you love. And on top of that you have to deal with your weirdo dad who's always putting your little brother down and placing all of his expectations on you. It's a good thing they both at least turned out to be decent people.

Cinema has arrived! One of my all time favorite movies.
