Cid may have been no match, but Shadow took care of business nicely on this idiot! Poor Sherry, though!

There’s also the fact he opted to not tell Sherry the truth about her father reasoning that it’s “better this way”. If she found out her father is her mothers murderer and was only using her then she would be devastated. Not that she would believe him given the fact he killed bin but still.

Cid does actually care, despite his best efforts. Like he mentioned he 'trimmed the fat' from his life when it comes to attachment, but his actions speak otherwise. Asking that question and killing him the way he did was completely unnecessary and gained him nothing, nor did it add to his Shadow persona, but he did it anyway. Theres a couple moments further down the line that hint at this as well, suffice it to say that there is a part of Cid that still cares about people, and its whats holding him in check

See my interpretation of it is that as long as it even remotely furthers what he considers the plot he's free to do whatever he feels like, and that he doesn't get found out by the so called "Protagonist" of the current plot. Edit: well I guess maybe not, I'm not gonna say anything cause it's later in the story but there is something he does that kinda goes against what I was saying. It is kinda confusing now that I'm having to think about it lol.

It's actually interesting, how left open to interpretation a lot of this is.

On a big sidenote: I'm really uncertain on this "Eminence in Shadow" really means. Looking at the scene before the fight between Coughing Baby vs Atomic Bomb, Sid specifically asks him if he was using Sherry and specifically kills him in the same way he said he killed Sherry's mother. At first, I'm thinking this is Cid showing his true feelings but then the thought crosses my mind, what if this is just another thing, he did to play his role. This is when I started really thinking about this "Eminence in Shadow" and realizing it's a very broad thing, like I understand doing all this grander stuff in the shadows, under the guise of an overly cool phantom figure but I'm not quite sure what I can really say what the Eminence in the Shadows would really do so I'm having a hard time really knowing what something this unclear would do. Like we got a good idea of what the Hokage was in Naruto but here it's a lot more difficult to pin down for me.

Honestly, I never really trusted that father character. From the start I just figured he was a character who was secretly evil or someone who was gonna die tragically early on. I figured out he was the red knight guy in this episode though. Firstly, the scene where we first saw Sherry's mother getting killed, we see a very clear silhouette of him. It became much clearer when the Red Knight coughed (which is a pretty big hint given the fact we know only one character who has a bad cough because of mysterious anime disease 9879) and then we get a very clear view of him and his mustache smiling. I feel like the plot really wanted the viewers to realize it was him given the number of big hints they throw at us.
