august update!
Added 2023-08-02 14:00:02 +0000 UTChello! it is august and this month i'm mainly working towards a pet shop after dark update since it'll be... the first anniversary at the end of the month! π
as an overview...
- i'm working on getting translations ready for a pet shop after dark (european spanish, basque, and traditional chinese) as well as planning on making a few general tweaks to gameplay π
- i also want to update my android games because the renpy version i used for them unfortunately causes crashes on some devices, and apparently the current version 8.1 helps make them better... so that'll be a bit tedious but i'll be updating them all this month, if all goes well
- more work on marron game... i'm having a lot of fun with it right now!
- i will have a postcard for all of you as usual!!
the photos are from tokyo game dungeon which i attended last sunday to show off Marron's Day, which is the title name i have decided on for my updated version of Marron Helps a Friend! i will have the demo i shared at the event up for patrons soon so you can check out the new colour palette and super game boy frame that i worked really hard on π
in some other news i have also joined bluesky after getting an invite from a friend, and you can find me there at https://bsky.app/profile/npckc.bsky.social - i'm not sure i'll stay on there, but i'm going to feel it out a bit more first. personally i have been the most comfortable chatting on the misskey.io instance where i'm @npckc@misskey.io but the account is mostly just my daily life stuff and not much game dev haha. trying to figure out how i want to use social media for dev stuff in the future right now & i don't have a good answer yet, so i hope you'll bear with me as i test things out!
also want to say thank you for supporting me as i navigate the waters of being a full-time game dev! august marks the start of the fifth month of full-time dev life for me and i'm still trying to find a good work-life balance for myself. i'm a third of the way through the first year and my personal 'deadline' is to do this for at least a year and see how i'm faring after that. right now i think i've been doing a bit too much with attending events and juggling multiple longer-term projects, so i'm hoping to find a better schedule which is a bit less stressful... we'll see how it goes! it helps a lot having all your support as i weather on β΅

'Tis kinda incredible to me how many cons you go to, as somebody who's literally never been to one myself, but surely they're extremely fun, in some capacity... And hopefully the crowds enjoyed the Marron demo!!! Definitely looking forward to the Patreon release of it soon!!! Has development on the other two stories in it begun? I can only assume so considering it's fun working on it right now instead of struggling with GB Studio up-porting, pff. But who knows!!! Either way, yes, excited for it. ALSO OF COURSE LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS PET SHOP AFTER DARK UPDATE..... Wonder what sorta goodie'll be in store with it, but hopefully making it goes smoothly, as do the translations and the Android game updates!!! Social media tho..... 'Tis a complicated subject, I suppose, but hopefully you can enjoy Bluesky in the time you spend there!! But also hopefully the misskey'ing has been very enjoyable in and of itself, pff. Figuring out what sorta stuff you wanna post in terms of gamedev sounds like a tough endeavor, so hopefully figuring that balance out isn't too strenuous. AND YAAAA. Happy to be here, supporting!! I've been saying "hopefully" a lot in this post but... hopefully some stress can be alleviated in the near future with gamedev stuffs. Maybe some smaller projects can present themselves; that'd be neat!!! But who knows what the future has in store..... Ultimately, GANBAAAA with everything!!!
