i exhibited at two events this month so here's some photos and stuff of how they went!
the first one was retro creators, which was a new event just for retro game creators. i exhibited with my gb studio game (as did a few other people) but there were a lot of other stuff, like a super famicom game, chiptune music made on gameboy and megadrive, & this one guy with like a whole table of incredible homebrew gba hardware like a real-time clock module, an analogue stick, something that added tilt controls???. among other stuff.
this event was really fun because they had homebrew cartridges hanging from balloons in the middle of the venue which people could stick into their own gameboys/gbas/&c. to test game demos on, which i thought was a really cute way of doing it.
the second one was digital games expo, which had its tenth anniversary this year. i've always liked this event because it has a great variety of games with a lot of weird stuff! there's a handmade feel to a lot of things which i love.
in particularly at one table somebody had a handmade smart ball game (like an early version of pachinko) & was selling cassette tapes of their game's theme song. i like this atmosphere of game-making a lot more than events like tokyo game show & bitsummit, which feel much more 'corporate'.
i think it was a bit too exhausting though showing at two events in a row, so i won't be showing at anything for a while! i plan to show something at an event in january but i don't know what yet...
in the meantime i'll be working on some new games (:
