My favorite part of the show is how they humanize the clones. It makes their impact in the franchise so emotional.

“We’re all just numbers!”
“Not to me, you’re not.”
One of my favorite quotes in the entire show, because it really does hammer home that no clone is just merely a clone. They’re a living being.

Yessss I love that this is a early episode. I grew attached to domino squad only problem is when I saw it for the first time the episode called Rookies was first and then this episode happened much later in season three. Idk why they choose to go this route with the original release cause Rookies spoiled this episode.

99 actually probably isn't that old, the thing about him is he was born with a defect during his cloning process, that's why he has a hunchback and the left side of his face droops, so he never even had a chance to prove himself, he was sent straight to maintenance and clean up because he was "defective". It's actually really sad when you think about it, especially when you remember that Clones in this series have accelerated lifespans. By the way, Jango Fett the source of all the clones is Boba Fett's father, Mace Windu (Samuel Jackson) killed him in the second film, that's why they don't have a fresh DNA source for clones anymore.

All the clones are made from the DNA of one person, Jango Fett, who was a skilled bounty hunter that was recruited to be the original of the clone army. However, as they stated here, he was killed (another reference to the prequel trilogy) so they're running into complications without a source of fresh DNA.
That said, introducing a replacement could have its own problems. Everything from diet, to armor size, to training, was designed with Jango Fett's body and mentality in mind so they would have to redo the program from the ground up if a new original was selected. Not to mention it could create problems in terms of discipline. Since all the clones consider each other brothers, they naturally work well together. If an entirely different set of clones is introduced then it could end up with damaging the sense of cohesion and moral that makes them so effective.
