The ultimate guide to peptide bio-regulators

Peptide bio-regulators have gained a lot of traction recently in ‘biohacking community’ for good reason. Peptide bio-regulators are the child of the pioneering work of Vladimir Khavinson, a Russian scientist.

If you’d like to watch the two part full documentary on bio-regulators you can find that here

BR’s are small chains of amino acids that have been demonstrated — experimentally and clinically — to play crucial roles in modulating various biological processes related to immunity, organ regeneration and the restoration of glandular and organ function following illness and environmental insults.

Historical context

The exploration of peptide bio-regulators began in earnest in the latter half of the 20th century, driven by advances in molecular biology and peptide synthesis. Vladimir Khavinson focused on understanding how peptides derived from different tissues could regulate biological functions. His research has been instrumental in identifying specific peptides that can influence organ-specific cellular processes and in elucidating their mechanisms of action.

During the Cold War, the USSR believed that the US had ‘laser weapons’ and could blind soldiers on the battlefield. The inpetus for the early research and development of bio-regulators was spurred by the USSR’s interest in organ regeneration for soldiers. Particularly the eyes (one organ where bio-regulator treatments have a lot of clinical backing) as well as the treatment of illness caused by biological warfare and extreme environmental perturbations to the organism.

Khavinson's early work concentrated on peptides extracted from the thymus, brain, and other organs of cattle. He found that the peptides in these organs were found to have regulatory effects on cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis (in the organs they were taken from) which are fundamental processes in maintaining homeostasis and responding to injury or disease. Over the years, Khavinson and his other collaborators identified numerous peptides, each with unique sequences and biological activities, which have been tested for various therapeutic applications.

One of the advantages of bio-regulators are their extreme selectivity for their respective target organs. This is one of the reasons they have virtually no major side effects.

Mechanisms of action

Peptide bio-regulators exert their effects through several mechanisms at the cellular level. One primary mechanism involves both (depending on the peptide) binding to specific receptors on the surface of cells and or being small enough to pass through the nucleus where they can interact directly with DNA. This interaction triggers a cascade of signaling pathways that alter gene expression and protein synthesis, ultimately affecting cellular behavior.

The binding of peptides to receptors and or DNA can activate or inhibit transcription factors, which are proteins that regulate the transcription of specific genes. By modulating these transcription factors, peptides can enhance or suppress the expression of genes involved in cell survival, proliferation, and repair. This regulation is critical in processes such as wound healing, immune response modulation, and tissue regeneration.

You can think of bio-regulators as intelligent molecules that maintain cellular hometostais. Instead of inhibiting or dramatically up regulating specific cellular pathways (thing drugs and even some supplements) bio-regulators essentially help our cells to respond specifically to the demands placed on them. For example, some bio-regulators may silence genes for cancer while also upregulating cell survival AND apogotisis in cancer cells (cell death) depending on the tissue and context.

Additionally, peptide bio-regulators can influence the production of reactive oxygen species in a balance way, which play a dual role in cellular signaling and oxidative stress. By modulating ROS levels, peptides help maintain a balance between necessary signaling (think nitric oxide after exercise) and harmful oxidative stress (think hydroxyl radicals) , which can damage cells and tissues. We need some ROS for cell signaling. But too much can be bad. Bio-regulators help ‘regulate’ these delicate physiological processes.

Applications in for treating rare disorders

One of the significant areas where peptide bio-regulators have shown promise is in the treatment of rare disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa or RP (also frequently

Reffered to as rod cone dystrophy). RP is a genetic condition characterized by the progressive degeneration of photoreceptor cells in the retina, which leads to vision loss and ultimately blindness. RP is progressive and incurable. Traditional treatment options are limited.

However, research has demonstrated that certain peptides can support retinal health by promoting the survival and function of those photoreceptors. These peptides may mimic neurotrophic factors, which are essential for the maintenance and repair of neuronal tissues. Clinical studies have bio-regulators peptide for the eye can stabilize vision and, in some cases, completely restore function in patients with RP.

(Peptides on field of vision)

Stop and think about that for a second. Bio-regulators can entirely halt, and in some cases RESTORE function to an organ that would otherwise entirely lose function due to a genetic defect. This has been clinically reproduced numerous times in Russia at the Tree of Life institute as well as studies conducted and case reports conducted and collected by Bill Lawrence in the United States.

Beyond ocular disorders, peptide bio-regulators have also been demonstrated potential in the regeneration of other organs. bio-regulators can activate pathways involved in tissue repair and regeneration, making them valuable tools for restoring function in damaged or diseased tissues.

If you’d like to read a really interesting case report on this, I would suggest browsing the article I have linked bellow covering Ryan’s heart failure protocol. Ryan used bio-regulators to successfully reverse stage 3 heart failure — another fatal, progressive condition according to allopathic medicine

https://www.patreon.com/posts/113005742?utm_campaign=postshare_creator

In rodent models, bio-regulator peptides for the pancreas have been shown to ameliorate type 2 diabetes entirely. There are even some case reports of individuals reversing type 1 diabetes by restoring islet cell function in the pancreas. While I haven’t personally seen this and can’t confirm these findings, this follows with the RP and heart failure anecdotes.

In the liver and heart, peptide bio-regulators have been experimentally shown to stimulate the proliferation of hepatocytes (the primary cells responsible for liver function) and cardiomyocytes (heart cells) This can aid in liver and heart regeneration following injury or surgery. in cardiac tissue, peptides can promote angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) and enhance repair after myocardial infarction (heart attack)

The regenerative effects of peptide bio-regulators are attributed to their ability to activate stem cells and influence their differentiation into specific cell types needed for tissue repair. By creating a favorable environment for regeneration, peptides facilitate the healing and restoration of those damaged tissues

Pseudo gene therapy

The ability of peptide bio-regulators to modulate gene expression and cellular behavior aligns them with the principles of gene therapy, albeit through indirect means. Traditional gene therapy involves the direct modification of genetic material within cells to correct or replace faulty genes. In contrast, peptide bio-regulators alter gene expression through signaling pathways without permanently changing the genetic code.

Don’t worry. Bio-regulators aren’t going to ‘change your DNA’ lol. They’re simply performing epigentic modifications, identical to exercise and other lifestyle decisions.

This approach offers several advantages, including reduced risk of immune rejection and the avoidance of potential complications associated with integrating foreign DNA into the host genome (hello COVID vaccine).

As a form of pseudo gene therapy, peptide bio-regulators may be a less invasive alternative to traditional gene therapy, offering the potential for precise modulation of cellular functions without side effects or long term complications. This makes them particularly appealing for conditions where altering gene expression temporarily or in a controlled manner is desirable.

How to use bio-regulators

There are two primary kinds of bio-regulators

1. Animal based (cytomaxes) derived directly from animal organs. These are typically taken in a capsule.

2. Lab synthesized (cytomines) which are made via recumbant and other techniques. This is how most peptides are made. These are typically injected although some are also avaliable via a capsule (pinealon, ovagne etc)

The form your choose will depend on the severity of your condition as well as the speed at which the results are desired. It’s often said that cytomaxes take longer to work (but have longer lasting benefits) while cytomines work faster but have shorter lived benefits. Although there’s still a bit of ambiguity around this. Cytomines can also be injected at much higher doses, making them particularly advantageous for individuals with serious conditions.

Think of cytomaxes as a health tonic and cytomines as powerful medications. For most individuals looking to achieve the benefits of bio-regulators for general health, cytomax capsules will usually suffice. I prefer to buy and inject mine (think injections always tend to work a little better) but this may not be suitable for everyone

(Unfortunately, some bio-regulators like the muscle BR, adrenals, testicals, and the bone marrow are only avaliable as cytomaxes (capsules) and not injection. These have to be taken in capsule form).

Here is the full list of the cytomaxes and their associated organs. You can find them purchasable here. Some you may not be able to find. In this case, you can get them from other online vendors (they’re all the same product). They’re usually doses between 2-6 capsules for 10-30 days.

In Russia, four cytomine (injectables) bio-regulators have been approved by the Ministry of Health as pharmaceutical drugs. These are thymalin (for the thymus gland/immune system ) cortexin (for the brain), Retinalamin (eyes) and Prostatilen/Vitapros for the prostate. You can get these shipped directly from a trusted, reputable Russian Pharmacy (SampsonMed) via Cosmic Nootropics.

Most injectable bio-regulator (the ones listed below) dosages range from 1-5mg, while the four listed above range from 5-10mg. Again, these are some as subq injections with bacteriostatic water. Higher dosages are usually used for more serious issues.

You can watch my educational guide on using peptides bellow. This is not medical advice. It’s for educational material only.

The other bio-regulators you can get from CanLabs (one of my favorite trusted sources for clean, pure peptides). They are as follows

1. Pinealon (also for the brain)

2. Cortagen (brain but also has benefits for heart and nerves. This is a fragment of Cortexin peptide)

3. Cartalax (for connective tissue and cartilage)

4. Vilon (immune system as well as blood, heart, and capillary health)

5. Vesugen (blood vessels and arteries)

6. Ovagen (liver and GI)

7. Cardiogen (heart and prostate )

8. Chonluten (lungs)

9. Brochogen (lungs)

10. Pancreagen (pancreas)

11. Livagen (liver, heart, GI/gut)

12. Testagen (thyroid)

13. Epitalon (pineal gland)

14. Prostamax (also for prostate)

15. Vesilute (urinary tract, bladder and prostate, spermatogensis and fertility in men)

16. Normoftal (eyes)

Cycling time

Most bio-regulators are used for anywhere between 10-30 days. Lower doses (typically 1-2mg for injectables for longer lengths of time) or high doses (10mg in the example of Cortexin or thymalin) for shorter 10-15 day courses. For capsules, it’s usually recommended to do 2-6 capsules for 10-30 days. I like lower, longer dosing for capsules personally

Truthfully, many of the parameters related to dosing aren’t well defined, and benefits seem to be achieved at a variety of dosing lengths, frequencies and administration (injectable and capsule)

As a general rule of thumb, bio-regulators can be ran more frequently for those with severe or specific conditions (every 1-3 months until a functional stabilization of the disease condition or symptoms has been achieved) or once every 4-6 months (for maintiance thereafter and or general health purposes and disease prevention.

My bio-regulator cycle

I like to do two yearly 30 day cycles of the following bio-regulators for general wellness

10mg for 10 days twice a year

Cortexin

Thymalin

Retimalanin

2mg for 20 days twice a year

Cardiogen

Cartalax (2mg for 20 days twice

Livagen

Epitalon

Vesugen

Vilon

Muscles (capsules so I do 4 capsules for 20 days)

I like to choose bio-regulators that focus on big, key organs like the heart, brain and immune system. Because there’s many bio-regulators to choose from, these are the most important for anyone looking to use BR’s for general wellness and or get their feet wet. Then, you can choose specific regulators for organs you have issues with and or based on known genetic weaknesses. I think all foundational health protocols should prioritize brain, heart, vessels and the immune system (these are also the most well studied bio-regulators). From there you can branch off based on affordability and your unique health goals.

I also like to prioritize cartilage/ connective tissue regulator and muscle regulators for training purposes. Active individuals and athletes who want to use bio-regulators for performance and recovery should consider these a top priority

One bio-regulator to rule them all?

The single most ‘bang for your buck’ bio-regulator is thymalin. Because the immune system is directly involved in virtually all diseases of aging, restoring immune function and homeostasis is critical. Thymalin does this by restoring immune tolerance, but also by directly repairing and ‘de-aging’ the thymus gland. The thymus is responsible for producing and maturing out T cells (white blood cells). T cells are crucial for attacking cancer cells and fighting disease and infection. Thymus involution (shrinking) occurs rapidly after the age of 30. By keeping the thymus gland healthy and viable, we may be able to prevent many age related diseases like cancer and even Neuro degeneration.

Thymalin is well studied and has been shown to be effective for:

Arrhythmias

Heart disease

Periodontal disease

Cancer treatment

Sepsis & severe infections

Post surgical complications

Diseases of aging

Respiratory illnesses

Inflammation

Wound healing

Fungal infections

Anorexia

addiction & withdrawal

Covid

Long Covid

Brain damage and TBI

Blood clots

Post vaccination injury and fatigue

MCAS

CIRS

Mold recovery

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Autoimmunity

Sleep/Jet lag/CR dysfunction

Arthritis

Exercise recovery and sports performance

I have seen some phenomenal results using thymalin with my CFS and my chronically ill clients.

Are there any risks?

The associated risks with bio-regulators are exceptionally minimal and truthfully, almost non existent. With capsule based bio-regulators In particular, the only know contraindications are those with allergies specifically to bovine sourced or derived products. This also applies to thymalin and Cortexin potentially.

With peptides like thymalin, there is a *theoretical* possibility that they could exacerbate severe autoimmune conditions (at least acutely) due to their impact on the immune system. In practice, however, I have actually seen the opposite to be true. Because peptides like thymalin help balance the immune response—something we observed particularly in studies related to COVID and cytokine storms, as well as thymalin's positive impact on mast cell biology—many individuals with diagnosed autoimmune conditions find tremendous relief from peptides like thymalin in tempering the immune response. While I have seen nothing but positive results with thymalin in my practice, even for those with severe autoimmune conditions, it is important to exercise some caution, particularly if you are dealing with issues related to MCAS and CIRS.

If you’re currently taking medication for an under or over active thyroid, it is possible you may need to talk to your doctor about lowering your dose of thyroid medication when using the bio-regulators for the thyroid. The same may apply to diabetes medication and insulin with the thyroid bio-regulator. As the thyroid and pancreas begin to heal and produce their own hormones, this may be necessary. While this isn’t a direct side effect or contraindication with bio-regulators, it is something you might need to consider. For testicular bio-regulators the same may be true if you’re on low dose TRT.

Truthfully, bio-regulators are probably way safer than most of the supplements you have in your cabinet. Bio-regulators do not have a lethal dose (meaning you could inject an entire vile and be completely fine although I wouldn’t recommend this lol). The only risks with bio-regulator peptides are sterility with injections sites. Not being sterile or clean is always an infection risk with injectable compounds

Sourcing is also important to consider with the injectables. Peptides in general are often frequently contaminated with LPS and other fillers when purchased from unreputahle vendors. You’ll notice that many bio-regulators are labeled ‘for research purposes only’ on the bottle, expect for the bio-regulators aquired through cosmic nootropics and pharmacies in Russia (cortexin, thymalin etc) and the capsules. Because these are technically considered ‘research grade’ peptides (they can’t be legally labeled any other way even though they’re exceptionally safe when purchased from good sources) you can’t buy them from just anyone. This is why I recommend sources like CanLabs that test for purity, bacterial contamination and LPS. Anyone claiming they got side effects from bio-regulators likely got hit with a hefty dose of LPS from a low quality source.
