Dev Update R7 #3

Hey all, I’m back again with an update on R7’s progress. Things proceed, though I do have to start off with some disappointment.

Delay

I’m going to have to push the release date into May, back from the 20th April as I was aiming for. Though everything should be ready for an early date, say the 2nd May. I don’t do this lightly, and am very disappointed, but the alternative was cutting content or having to deal with an immense amount of end of month double charging.

The end of the month is a really terrible time for me to put it out, so around the 23rd is about the latest I could usually do. Reason being, each release sees a large influx of supporters (~100+) who all get charged up front then will be charged again (if they stick around) on the first day of the next month (only on patreon , btw). So if this happens right at the end, I’d be double charging a load of people. I don’t want to scam people, or process a hundred refunds. So I try to schedule with this in mind. Unfortunately I just won’t be able to meet the 23rd deadline, so I have to push it back past the 1st.

I’m quite proud of the content of R7 so far. l’ll outline progress below, but I think it deserves to not be rushed out the door, just as you deserve the same level of quality as normal. The delay sucks, but I can assure you any extra time I might get will just mean extra content.

So what went wrong? It was an ambitious deadline, though most of mine usually are, and I thought I could make it with some serious grind as is typical of the end of the dev cycle. But I was testing the party content, the drinking game specifically, and it just wasn’t good enough.

I’ll go into details in it’s own section, but basically I’ve made it a bit more dynamic than last time. But when I played it, there were a lot of repeating events, and a distinct inability to progress as much as necessary to the good stuff. No biggy, just meant I had to add some more events, rework the mechanics a little and change the way the game actually ends. Polish it up to a quality you expect. But this was a couple days of extra work that sealed the fate of that deadline. I can only apologize, but I’m not going to put out stuff that’s broken after so much work.

TLDR: Have to delay because of quality control, and delay some more because of charging nonsense. Sorry I’m dumb.

Hopefully I’ve explained this well enough. I only do this with good intentions, and I’ll do my best to avoid it again. Maybe try strictly scheduling all releases for the early month or something. If you have any more questions about this, don’t hesitate to ask.

Party Drinking Game

So what did I actually do here to cause a fuss? Well I tried to make the drinking game a bit more dynamic. Instead of having most of the dares available up front, you’ll have different options depending on how much clothing a character still has remaining. With the ability to strip them further, how lewd.

Each stage of stripping will also affect the dares others can make. So with each stage you obtain, you should see some new stuff happening. I’ll likely carry this forward into the next content stage for Lydia, only going further or perhaps with different outfit sets.

To help make it all work, I changed the way the game ends. Past a certain amount of turns you can now end it manually, or keep going to see as much as you like. At least until you drink too much. Basically, the MC’s intoxication now serves as a limit on the game, quite generous, so it’ll largely be up to you how much time get spent there. A nice improvement I think.

You’ll also be able to invite some bonus girls along, with their own dare sets. One a returning face, another new. Doing so will unlock them at the end of the party, assuming you got them to ditch enough clothes.

Lydia’s Story

Big happenings, and a return to form in terms of quantity. Each route will have two story events, and a shared intro (with variance, like last time). So a total of 5 up from the 3 of last time. Another part of the higher burden of this release’s dev time. But I’ve already finished 3 of 4 of these, and I think it’ll prove very worth it.

Jen Sister, & The Poll

I imagine that primarily you’d want to know when this character will be introduced, and right now all I can say is whenever the time is right during the next few releases. After the scheduling fuck up of this one I can’t really commit to something solid, but I want you to know I’m looking to get it done at the first good opportunity.

With that aside, I wanted to thank everyone who’s voted in the poll so far, and also for all the feedback regarding the character. The poll itself seems quite split, but I won’t know for sure until the final results and voting weights are applied etc.

The feedback has been a great boost to figuring this out. It seems most are quite happy to let me do whatever seems best for the character, and I have plenty of ideas that I could now start committing to thanks to that. I’ll wait for the poll of course, then when we have the results I’ll start sharing some of these ideas.

In Closing…

So expect R7 at the start of May. I’ll have more posts to make in the mean time, and I’ll try to make up for the delay with some more of the good stuff.

Sorry again for the fuck up. If it might help at all, I will provide a sneak peek into my plans for R7.5. I’m hoping it’ll be a very strict 1 month cycle kind of deal, and focusing mainly on the club. There’s a lot of work to be done there, and it deserves a release of it’s own. But we can talk about that more once I’ve finally finished R7 ;) Until then, thanks for your support!
