Dev Update – R7 Plans

Thank you all for the extremely positive reception to the 6.5 Release! And welcome to everyone signing up to support for the first time, or are returning once again. Seems I managed the impossible with this one and got all the new content near bug free as well (though some still linger in the older stuff…). Trying to not rush the release out the door seemed to pay off.

It’s quite nerve wracking to release a character without much sexual content, so all the feedback has been wonderful. Hopefully we’ll be back to getting some more Atonia content soon!

Sorry for this first R7 post taking a little long than usual. I’ve had to migrate over to a new computer, and a faulty power supply made that process rather slow and painful. But it’s all good now, and I’ve already started working on R7.

R7’s Core - Lydia

Those of you who have been following the project for a while would have likely guessed this, but R7 is going to be another one focusing on Lydia.

Another content stage, with story, new sandbox events, party content, gym stuff… It’s all quite a lot to get through. Even so, there are some new (but also old) things she could possibly get involved with. We’ll just have to see how things go… This one is going to be quite significant for the character as is ;)

Christine & Krissy

To go along with Lydia, we’ll be getting some new content for those associated with her. I may in fact be putting up some polls about it at some point, so keep an eye out for those.

I did receive some requests for Christine to have her own progression system, so I wanted to touch on that quickly. It’s something that I wanted to do as well, give her some story events and the like alongside Lydia. Problem is, there just isn’t really enough time in a release cycle to actually make this happen. At least not in a way that’s actually up to standard.

I will however, look at adding at least a couple story events (so like 1 for each path) at a later date. Likely when Lydia is nearing completion. So outside the scope of this release. We’ll just have to settle for a few sandbox events for now!

Gallery Feature

Much requested, pretty much since the game’s launch. I’m going to try and make this happen in some form for R7. Very likely it’ll just be limited to story events at first, but hopefully I’ll be able to get the stories from all the characters in for viewing.

Just wanted to explain a little why I haven’t done this yet and why it might be slow-going (Warning: Boring nerd shit ahead). Due to a lack of foresight in the early days of the project, and ignorance of how a gallery system would even work, pretty much all the story event code isn’t suitable for it. They all have bits of code to set triggers, manipulate stats etc. So just calling the “functions” again from another menu would cause all kinds of nasty bugs.

So I pretty much have two options. Go back and edit all the code, or just rebuild a new set without all the nasty parts. The first is a nightmare for testing, as I’d have to go back and playtest literally everything that gets changed. Even then, it’s not guaranteed it will be bug free. The last thing I want to do is break old content.

So that leaves rebuilding a new set. Lots of copy pasting, editing and testing the result. On top of that, I have to put together a decent menu, multiple characters with multiple stages of content could get cluttered very quickly.

It's just going to take a little while. And I’m sure you don’t want me spending loads of R7 dev time just getting this one feature working. Once it’s up and running, I’ll add to it with each Release until you can view anything of relevance again.

Release Window

Given the shortness of this month and the workload, we’re looking at this coming out in April. Hopefully the first half. You’ve all proven a very patient bunch, and it seems like the time investment pays off with better quality releases. So until then, thanks again for your support, and I’ll do my best to keep you updated on progress along the way!
