Dev Update – R6 Progress #1

Hey all. As promised in this post I’ll be going over how R6 and beyond will be fit around the holiday period, and a little progress report on something I’ve been working on.

Release Schedule  + IRL

So important bit first. This Christmas I’ll likely have to have to travel to visit family which will bring development around the new year to a halt for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately working on L&V while I’m away will just be impractical.

This affects whatever comes after R6 a lot more than it does R6 itself. I haven’t decided what I’ll actually do at that point, likely another .5 release (Atonia maybe?). But it’s hard to say until the disruption actually happens.

For R6 though, all I decided to do was just elongate the development a little. Right now I’m planning on having it out for mid December. Which should allow as much time for R6 as possible while also leaving a little time to do post release patching/support before I have to disappear. I figured it would just be best to use up all the time available for one release then start work on the next once I was back.

So basically as far as R6 goes, it’ll just (hopefully) be a bit bigger than usual with a slightly longer wait.

Progress so far

So since starting work on R6 I’ve just been hammering away at the party content I mentioned last time. It’s ended up being… quite a lot. I’m honestly a little worried at how you might have to do it several times just to see everything. I’ve just about finished all the writing, just got a little bit more to do, so hopefully I’ll have a proper in-game preview of it ready for the next dev post.

Subject to change but the current structure of the party goes like this:

Intro/mingling with people → Drinking game → End options

The drinking game mechanics aren’t finalized but they will likely throw a bit of randomness into the mix that you’ll have to work around depending on your goals for the evening. I am also looking to have some cheats that should help you out if things don't go as planned.

Ultimately the end of the party is where the best stuff happens, and I’m hoping to have the options available reflect what you did during the party. Like what questions you asked, if you encouraged somebody to do certain things… It should all help determine what the important guests end up doing (or who…). Featuring Lydia, her friend Krissy, and some generic random girls.
