Shining Force II – 1993 Developer Interviews

http://shmuplations.com/shiningforceii/

These four interviews chronicle the development and promotion of the Mega Drive strategy-RPG Shining Force 2, the hotly-anticipated sequel to the critically-acclaimed Shining Force and the third home title for Sonic! Software Planning (now known as Camelot), whose Shining series had rapidly grown to cover both console and handheld entries, one of which is also addressed in the course of these discussions.

Appended to this collection is a translation of the liner notes to the official Shining Force soundtrack; producer Takahashi’s predictions about the ambitions of composer Motoaki Takenouchi turned out to be correct, as he left the video game industry in the late ’90s and is currently working on non-commercial traditionalist art music.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Attack Special 2 scans I've just been provided have another excellent SFII interview, so if people are interested, I can translate that in the next round of voting. I also found some SFIII interviews recently (from the guidebooks uploaded at archive.org) which are crying out to be translated, hehe

Thank you very much for translating this game, Blackoak! Shining Force II is my favourite RPG game on the Mega Drive. It's a shame we didn't get Shining Force IV. On Materclaws' Tumblr, there's a screenshot of the original team eating in a restaurant, said that they wished they could make Shining Force IV, if SEGA gave them the rights to the series. Well, SEGA did gave Deep Silver the rights to Shenmue series, which we got a sequel (regardless of the mixed opinions). If SEGA does give the Shining series' rights to someone, pray it involves the original team, or someone who is keeping faith to the game's theme. If there's anyone who wants to vote another interview that involves the Shining series, you have my vote.

I will read that tomorrow (it's midnight here), but I wanted to say "thank you", because I am delighted to be able to read some "Shining Force"-related content. "Merci beaucoup."
