The Merger - Spirals - Part 1 - Bonus Scene

Veo blushed as Midnight carefully lifted the completely drained patron over her shoulder. “So where did Xander ever end up?” the succubus asked her friend as she carried the sleeping patron into the back with the rest of her…guests.

“New Chicago.” Veo replied with a smile. “He even found a version of the Spirals Nightclub there, so he seems happy at the moment.”

“Still haven’t hooked up yet, have you.” Midnight said in a matter of fact way, knowing the answer before she said it. She laid the unconscious woman on one of the chairs in the back. “Well, who knows, maybe this will be a new chapter for you and him.”

Midnight swore she heard Veo respond “And for you too.” Midnight turned to see her friend holding up one of her cyan colored necklaces. She recognized it immediately, she used a special kind of wire and coated the stone so that it would refract light as it reflected off of it, making it more colorful and hypnotic.

“Shit!” she whispered under her breath as she realized what was happening. Veo didn’t need to say much. She knew that Midnight had a weakness for things being dangled in front of her eyes. All she had to do was stand there and let the beautiful necklace simply swing back and forth…

“You’re…not going…to get me…” Midnight said, struggling to tear her eyes off of the pendant. But the harder she tried the more her eyes just seemed to follow it…back and forth, back and forth. Her face remained defiant, but she could feel her shoulders slumping just a bit. She tried to shake her head, but instead simply found her head following the pendant…back and forth. This was not an improvement.

Veo moved a little closer to Midnight, close enough to move her free hand to her friend’s shoulder and give it a gentle push. The push caused her to sway, which caused any tension left in Midnight’s arms to simply melt away. Her hands fell completely limp at her sides, while her jaw clenched. She was still determined not to give in.

“I…won’t…give…” her voice trailed off. The expression of resistance slowly faded away from her face. Her jaw muscles, which had been clenched tight, started to loosen little by little. Her eyes would glaze over briefly, then refocus. But every swing took her deeper and deeper. Her lips remained sealed for a time, holding her jaw closed as long as they could, before the relaxation became too much and her jaw too heavy. Soon what tension was left in her jaw faded away as her lips parted slowly and a soft sigh escaped. A pleading look crossed her eyes for just a second, and then, as if something had been switched off in her mind, her pupils slowly dilated into deep black saucers. As she stared helplessly at the hypnotic necklace she herself had created.

Veo kept the necklace dangling before her friend’s eyes as she leaned in closer, careful not to look at the necklace herself. She leaned in and whispered softly into Midnight’s ear. “Sleep my friend…Sleep.”

Midnight sighed and went limp instantly. Her head fell back as her legs gave out, sending her on a one way trip towards the floor. Fortunately the angel had Jedi reflexes and was able to catch her helpless friend with the edge of her wing, guiding her softly into a chair by the front counter.

“That’s a girl. Just take a nice, long nap…” Veo whispered into her friend’s ear as she slowly laid her head down on the counter. With that, the angel set about her tasks…she had three patrons to return to their homes. Her wings made short work of that.

She then had to move Midnight’s entire store…every item, every board, every piece of tile from Yoto, its original city, halfway around the world to New Chicago. How does she do this you ask? Does she use some kind of magical portal to transport the entire store? Does she fly it across the world piece by piece? Or use an army of angels to lift it into the air and carry it to New Chicago?

The honest answer is….fuck if I know?! Veo is owned by my girlfriend and she won’t tell me how she did it! All she says is “she has her ways!” It’s driving me nuts, too. Maybe I’ll have to hypnotize her to find out…hmmmm.

Anyway, once the store was nicely nestled into its convenient new home in New Chicago, right by Spirals I might add, Veo walked out of the store with a smile. She could now keep on eye on her two best friends, Midnight and Xander, without having to fly around the planet. But she realized that Midnight might be a bit…angry…or offended. She knew she’d brush it off in no time, but she still wanted to give her something as a ‘thank you’. Or, more specifically, an apology. But what could she give Midnight as an apology?

As if on cue, like someone was writing this story, Laura and Rayne stepped around the corner and started to walk down the sidewalk towards where Veo was standing. Funny how that works isn’t it?

Veo smiled as she saw the two girls walking down the street, bickering back and forth about something she didn’t care to involve herself with. “Perfect!” she said with a smile.

Neither of the college girls seemed to notice the angel simply situate herself in the middle of the sidewalk, waiting for them with a smile. They managed to nearly bump into her before Rayne noticed her first and stopped short with a gasp. Laura stopped even closer to Veo, never really seeing that she was there, just staring at Rayne with a confused look on her face. It wasn’t until Veo cleared her throat that Laura even turned her head to see the angel standing there. She jumped back out of surprise and ended up right next to Rayne, who was still in shock at having this person appear before her.

Before either of them could say anything, Veo opened her large blackened wings and let them spread out to form a half circle around the two girls. The burnt and slightly withered feathers of the wings all came to life, each one flashing with hypnotic energy. It was like staring into a thousand Christmas tree lights all blinking at high speeds.

The two coeds just stared at the sight in front of them. Although angels were rare, seeing one was not unheard of. Having one appear directly in front of you, however, was enough to be more than a little surprising. The moment her wings opened, the girls were covered in the glow of the ever changing lights. Their entire bodies were instantly drowned out in a brilliant array of reds and blues, greens and yellows, oranges and purples. The display was easy enough to overwhelm the strongest, most focused and prepared minds. Let’s face it…Rayne and Laura didn’t stand a chance.

Their arms sank to their sides almost instantly as the lights continued to flash across their faces. So fast, in fact, that it caused them to sway on their feet as they kept staring ahead and watching the lights flicker from one color to the next. Their expressions of surprise melted away, leaving a blank expressionless look that just seemed to glow with hypnotic energy. Both girls were quite lovely like this, actually.

Veo smiled at her two helpless captives. “You two should be a good enough apology.”  Without so much as a word, she stepped aside and motioned for the girls to move toward the store’s door. Both complied without so much as a blink.

Awesome! I'm glad you finally merged the two series. It's cool to see that you have your own universe going now, you've come a long way since Xander was just an OC in your HBL fanfictions.
