Outline - Thief In The Mind

This is the original working outline that I used to create the Thief In The Mind story stories, the first chapter of which can be found here: http://www.spiralsnightclub.com/2018/03/thief-in-mind-part-1.html

(Please note the final stories varied drastically from the version in the outline, but this was the basics of what I worked off of while I was writing.) (also spoilers)

Thief of the Mind Outline (working title)

Hypnotists journal entry monday

• Talks about finding a woman at a fancy ball
• Notices her necklace very expensive
• Asks her to dance
• Uses the dance to hypnotize her. 
• Takes her off necklace in the dance. She is too dazed to notice. 
• Slips away from the dance floor leaving her hypnotized and dancing. 
• Ends journal entry with a comment about how lovely it was to see her show up at his hotel room. 

N.C.P.D. case file Wednesday

• Opens like a police file, complaint filed by an insurance company
• Details how a necklace insured by a visiting heiress went missing
• Describes video of the dancing. The man whispering into her ear. 
• There was not clear view of the necklace being removed, it was just there one minute then gone the next. 
• Details how the main video was accidentally destroyed. No evidence. 
• Suspects the unknown man may have actually hypnotized the heiress
• Interview do detail her being remarkably quiet that night when she is usually loud. 

Part 2 (in theory)

Hypnotists journal entry Saturday

• Describes going to field museum. 
• Finds a young woman who works there (Katheryn maybe?)
• Escorts her into the hall of gems to ask her a question
• Uses the gems to hypnotize her
• Carefully escorts her off camera and steals a kiss
• Describes how lovely it was to see her come in later. 
• Describes how she was excited like a school girl to be there dressed sexy
• Bag of gems with her. 

N.C.P.D. Case File Monday Morning. 

• Report of missing gems from the hall of gems in the Field museum
• Describes going to museum and looking over the location, security footage erased.
• Details who could have actually had access
• Interviews a few people
• Notices katheryn remembers only a normal day. 
• Story doesn’t line up with others. 
• On a hunch has katheryn undergo hypnotic regression
• Memory is sanitized, hypnotic block in place. 
• First evidence of hypnosis. 

Part 3 (in theory)

Hypnotists Journal Entry Thursday

• Describes chance meeting with beautiful woman
• Has a very beautiful Ring on her finger large sparkly
• Flirts with her, holds her hand
• Directs her attention to the ring. 
• Hypnotizes her with her ring. 
• Sides the ring off. 
• Suggests she joins him. 
• They are quite the pair. 
• Make love in a picture booth
• Ends with a knock at the door. 

N.C.P.D. Case File Monday morning

• Starts with “We got him!”
• Describes how the girls boyfriend who gave her the ring reported it missing
• Interviews with the girl details that she doesn’t remember ever having a ring
• Boyfriend is angry but officer is able to calm him down and explain
• Hypnotist hypnotizes the girl and again discovers a mental block. 
• Goes to zoo to investigate, looks for security footage, nothing
• On a hunch tries photo booth records finds picture of the hypnotist
• “We got him!”

Part 4 (In theory)

N.C.P.D. Case File Monday evening. 

• Details the case so far, the three women
• Details how they found them
• Details going to apartment to interrogate individual
• Depressed about dead lead
• Person has been sick all week 
• Has doctor notes detailing it
• And evidence of not leaving
• Even had a witness to prove his statement. 
• Case remains open.

Hypnotists Journal Tuesday morning

• Explains officer coming in
• Showing him the evidence
• He has no alibi no witnesses no excuse
• Office smiles and says he is under arrest
• Takes out her hand cuffs and handcuffs herself behind her back
• Confused as to what's going on. 
• Threatens to beat him as she kneels down in front of him
• He removes her hat
• Then her gun belt
• Then her badge 
• Shows her her badge and hypnotizes her with it. 
• Comments that hypnotizing a police woman is always step one in a new city… always. 

Part 5(potential bonus?)

N.C.P.D. case file two weeks previous 

• Details small fight at a nightclub 
• Describes how a hypnotist at the club helped to calm the people down
• Describes how with the new spirals night club going up things will get weirder
• Also details that the hypnotist asked her out
• Describes “the arrogance to ask an officer out while she is on duty”
• Details how she turned him down. 

Hypnotists Journal same day

• Describes how he was hopping clubs to get the lay of the land, find the rich spots
• Fight breaks out, doesn't care till female office shows up
• Gets into the fight and hypnotizes the people there. 
• Uses hypnotic phrasing to work the cop into a light trance
• Asks her out, 
• She accepts
• Takes her to a table that he tells her is very expensive restaurant
• Orders cheese sticks that she believes is steak
• Uses her badge to hypnotize her. 
• Ends up in apartment. 
• Officer leaves. 
• Ends with “hypnotizing a police woman is always step one in a new city… always.”
