Laying in my bedroom, I listened to the familiar sound of Lloyd scampering about the house. He gets the zoomies at night, and he doesn’t hold back with his parkour kitty attempts. Bouncing off the walls, sliding down the banisters, leaping six feet into the air… it’s all par for the course around here.
When I made my way downstairs to get a cup of water, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Was I being watched? I approached the kitchen with trepidation, tiptoeing across the floor. Suddenly, two yellow orbs glared at me from up high. A rat? a bat? A raccoon? See, I live on a mountaintop, and wildlife is common around here.
Bracing myself for whatever fresh terror awaited, I flipped the light switch.
The yellow orbs faded to blue. The shadows became the kitchen appliances. And none other than one mischievous Lloyd stared down upon me with the face of innocence. There he was, nestled between the top of the fridge and the bottom of the cabinets.
Lloyd: the stuff of nightmares.
