Holiday Plans/Complications

Happy December folks! This is a unique kind of update since usually I prefer keeping things in the dark while working on new projects until there's something solid to show. In this case, it's more of a good news/ bad news / worse news situation.

The good news is I wanted to get a video out for all of you by Christmas! Had the script written up and a fairly simple shoot planned with a new face to our model roster. Unfortunately, a medical emergency has come up and the model we hired is no longer able to film for many weeks. We wish her a swift recovery and hope she can get back to work soon.

This does mean we're left without a lead for our holiday video. Right now, I hope to reach out to other models/actresses and see if they're available on short notice. If not, then it looks like we'll be left without a live-action short this year again.

I'm going to do my best to make up for this setback, but hope you'll understand if these complications escalate as they usually like to do -_-

Now on to the worse news. Many of you have been asking about "What Are Friends For?". The truth is, that film has been a thorn in my side for ages. I planned it out with Explicit Haru to be a very VFX-heavy project similar to old size films we love, ending up with the most dialogue between a VFX tiny person and giantess in a film of this nature at 28-30 minutes in length.

The downside is that this would take an extraordinary amount of post-production work. With initial photography done in February and the Greenscreen shooting completed in June due to delayed arrangements, we've been sitting on a completed rough cut of the film for the better part of a year with basic keying and minimal sound design to give us an idea of what the final product will look like. As of September, we were geared up to plow through the rest of the VFX and have it done by this month!

So why is it still taking the better part of a year to make?

Short answer, Haru is gone. Haven't been able to reach him since October. I don't know if personal matters came up or if he decided to leave the scene without notice, but the result is the project being left in the water with no lead on the VFX. We wish him the best in whatever he's moved on to pursue.

Since then, I've been reaching out to other creators and artists with a background in VFX keyframing, tracking, and compositing to help finish this film, but haven't settled on anyone who has the time in their schedule to take it on anytime soon.

In the meantime, the VFX is 45% done, with a full 90% completed with Haru which I'll continue seeing if I can get a hold of. I know a lot of you have been sticking around exclusively for this film, so I want to be upfront with you about the state it's in and why we've been unable to get it out to you after all this time. Along with my IRL work picking up and seasonal paramouth projects demanding our focus, it's been a hard time of year for me to balance everything as a mostly one-man show. We've by no means ever been a professional operation, just a guy and the friends he hits up working hard to put together things we like to share with you folks who share a similar appreciation for this niche genre.

But the work continues. I won't let unfinished business loom over me for too long, doesn't sit right. In talks right now with some promising creators to bring this production to an end as early as January, and keeping up with development on the Cat and Mouse game with new programmers at the same time as well. At this point, I want to just plow through these projects and move on to newer ideas I've been excited about for a while but unable to pursue, so your support and understanding will be crucial at this time to get us to the finish line and bring these great stories to you!

tl;dr Life happens, we adapt, thank you for your patience. the vorny will be ready when it's ready.
