I found it quite poetic that the pilot ended up in the engine room, and the mechanic ended up in the bow of the ship. But, that Rance was a real "piece of work", and quite the egotistical, maniacal, misogynistic tyrant right until the end.
2021-10-22 10:04:47 +0000 UTCI feel bad for Inara, but at the same time she has continued to be with clients the entire time she has known Mal despite knowing his feelings about it. Also, she was pretty clear about maintaining a 'professional' relationships with him. It sucks that she's so hurt, but she had many chances to clear things up with him, so I'm don't like the double standard many people hold Mal to, that it's OK for Inara to be a Companion but not for Mal to have other relationship when she hasn't been open with him and has kept him at arm's length. Glad you seem more understand than some other reacters about the situation. From Inara's perspective, she saw how Nandi refused to run and it got her killed. Mal did try to be honest with her, but she is scared to do what she knows she'd have to in order to be with Mal. She can't really 'be' with Mal and still be a companion. It might work with some, but it wouldn't with Mal. She might fear she'll lose who she is if she tries to be with him.
