Yes, I agree. James is James "Bucky" Barnes - not the "Winter Soldier" anymore. I hope the writers will acknowledge that in the next season, which will give him the dignity he deserves.
Also, when I said Sam is a much better Captain "America", I wasn't referring to Steve or even John Walker. I was referring to being the Captain of a country that has - in the past - done some horrible things to African Americans and Native Americans, in particular.
I hope this country can stand for UNITY now - no matter what part of the aisle people find themselves on. I know both Liberals and Conservatives that want (and are desperately working toward) Unity....despite what the media wants us to believe.
Love and hugs 🤗💜

America as it stands deserves some slagging. What makes America great is that it has almost always, even though it may not seem it, tried to be better. The ideals this country stands for should never be confused with where it is actually at. You can say you're for something and not actually do it (hypocrisy is one thing we have mastered). When this country actually turns its back on those ideals and really, as a whole, steps backward, then we will not deserve Sam or Bucky. Because right now a whole segment of America got the Captain America that they have deserved since the start.
I think that Bucky has healing still to come (who doesn't?), but he has finally allowed his Winter Soldier past to no longer haunt his present. He will always be troubled by it, but I think he no longer fears BEING it. He's James "Bucky" Barnes 100%, not the Winter Soldier in the slightest. I don't think he ever wants to forget his past, but he has found solace in knowing it no longer holds sway over him.
But I think he sleeps better at night now. No more nightmares every night.
Oh, and luv you too, my friend!

I luv you, Joe!!
Ever since Steve gave Sam the shield, Sam has ALWAYS been Captain America to me. Black, white/European, Asian, Indian, Indigenous, Latin, etc, should not matter. Sam IS actually far better than what Captain "America" is/has been. And that's why I fully understand his hesitancy in not accepting the title immediately. That right there is one of the reasons why Sam is the perfect Captain America. Although, I still think he's too good for it, LOL.
I also think Bucky is too good for America as well. I do also think Bucky needs some more love. He is suffering and I really don't like to see that. I hope the writers will empower him a bit more in the next season 🤗✌🏼💜
(I don't mean to bag on America. It's just some of the history is heartbreaking - starting with the Native Americans. And yes, I know all about those experiments you're referring to. My mentor insisted I study them 🤮)

Kazzy, It was SO good seeing Sam as Captain America, but even better seeing Isaiah getting the recognition he deserved. As a character, he stands in for so many African Americans who have served with honor that was so often not returned. As has often been said, they fought for a country that never fought for them. Let alone the horrors of the Tuskeegee Experiment (a shameful part of American history that I cannot believe existed for more than a full tenth of my lifetime).
My two regrets in this episode in this episode are that Bucky's scene with Yori seemed cut short and that the end title, "Captain America and the Winter Soldier" should have been "Captain America and... something else." I want the former to have more attention given to this important moment in Bucky's development, and I wanted the latter to recognize that he, as much as Sam, has become a new hero.
I wish Batroc's death was less... smeary? It seemed a bit indecisive, which, if it means The Leaper shall live to leap another day is fine by me because he is a fun villain.
I think Val is not looking to kill Captain America, but I think she'll never be above killing ANYONE. She's a truly anarchic figure who is all about doing whatever works to gain her goals. It makes her all the more dangerous. Similarly, Sharon seems to have cast her moral compass to the wind. BUT I have my doubts that we have seen everything we know about Sharon and her newly minted persona as the Power Broker. We'll have to see.
But the greatest thing is Sam as Cap. It's so marvelous. I LOVE that it has enraged a certain segment of the population. That's a good thing. He's exactly, as I have detailed here before, the perfect choice for a new Cap. Where Steve was the example of nobility and purity of a good man, Sam is a good man who is a healer and a speaker of knowledge. He's the Cap that the world needs. No apologies over who he is and what he represents. That the media keeps referring to him as "Black Captain America" is ironic since the show plays much on the "Black Falcoln" monicker. That latter is a play on the old trope that Black comic book heroes weren't easy enough identified as Black unless it was in their character names (though Falcon actually was the exception).

Hell yeah, here we go ! Wanted to binge watch this when you put this up. Since it's middle of week tho, might be just this weekend. Still dropping a like. It was overall a pretty good series. Of the 2 Marvel series so far, still prefered "Wandavision", but pretty sure "Loki", starting June 11 will be pretty amazing. Season 2 finale of The Boys will also be great to rewatch. Then it's on to whatever wins the polls !!
