***Early Access*** STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI Full Watch Along

Comments

Hey guys, It was pointed out to me that the timecode was not working in The Last Jedi. I am so sorry for not noticing this before now. Hopefully not many of you have watched it yet, or you were able to use the visual queue. It is being fixed now and should be up tonight ❀😊✌🏼

Wow....you just echoed SO MANY of my own feelings about this movie. I will be recoding more of my thoughts on this film tonight. Thank you so much for sharing, Patrick πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€—πŸ’œ

Thank you for letting me know. I will investigate and fix.

Your timer is counting very slowly. Each second is actually 2-3 seconds. For instance, when your counter read 47 minutes, my counter was 1 hour 34 minutes. Not sure why.

I liked a few of the visual effects in some of the scenes. Story and character wise, I just really wasn't a fan of the 7-9 trilogy. In short....comparing the final trilogy to movies like Rogue One and The Mandalorian series, feels like a contrast between 2017 Justice League and the Snyder Cut.

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. I thought Canadians could heal really fast? Or maybe that's just Wolverine? Mixed feelings is spot on. This movie got great critical reviews and poor audience reviews when it came out. Poor Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) had to delete her social media accounts in real life because of the hatred she received for her character. Here's what I liked about it. The visual design and cinematography was stunning, this is one of the best looking Star Wars movies. The performances were all terrific, especially Adam Driver. I appreciated all the subversion that Rian Johnson went for, it was unexpected and kept me guessing. The movie had a strong central theme of failure, "The greatest teacher, failure is." Everyone's storylines and plans all combined right in the climax of the second act. Everyone's plans failed in this movie, all at once, when Admiral Holdo launched into hyperspace through the First Order fleet. Every single character dealt with failure and either learned from it or let it consume them. As a standalone movie, I loved it. Here's the problem: as the middle part of a new Star Wars trilogy, this is no place for a total subversion of characters and storylines! It's great to have some unexpected plot turns, but this was basically a deconstruction of the Star Wars saga. To be fair, the biggest problems I had with the new trilogy's story started in The Force Awakens. Ben's fall to the dark side completely broke Han, Leia, and Luke before that movie even began. Han and Leia would never have split up and given up on their son, and Luke would never have abandoned everyone and gone into hiding. Also, we will never get a scene with the three of them together as we should have. Ben's fall to the dark side and Han, Leia, and Luke helping Rey to redeem him SHOULD have been the whole trilogy! Tell that story! The First Order should not have been so powerful to begin with; THEY should have been the underdogs, fighting guerilla warfare against the republic, to mirror the original trilogy. It would have all been more dramatic and the stakes would have been more engaging. The first movie should have been Ben's training, fall to the dark side, and Rey should have been Luke's only surviving student. The second movie could have shown the growth and advances of the new First Order, the blind spots and hubris of the new Republic, and ended with a major First Order victory and Kylo's murder of Han. Instead, we have this, and J. J. Abrams was left with a lot of work to do in Rise of Skywalker. Like you said, a lot of wasted potential, unfortunately. I just can't understand why they didn't have a coherent storyline in place for a new planned trilogy! By all means, bring in new directors and screenwriters to give each film it's own flavor, but you've got to stay true to the established characters and history with a property like this. My thoughts when I saw this in the theater were, "That was a good movie, but it was a terrible STAR WARS movie."

I agree

This was my least favorite Star Wars movie. The director took some liberties and while I must say, some were good in thought ( like going to a whole new planet for a "side-quest" ), the execution of those ideas were a bit meh.. It's not a total flop and not unwatchable, special effects are very good, action scenes are well shot, dialogues are not as cringey as the prequels.. But the way they turned the very optimistic, caring Luke into, whatever this is, was to me, pretty bad. Would not have been of J.J. Abrahms trying to "fix things" in the next movie and the excellent Mandalorian series, this would dimmed my interest in Star Wars by a lot..
