***Early Access*** THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER 1X5 Full Watch Along

Comments

I loved it when Isaiah Bradley (actor Carl Lumbly) mentioned looking in the sky and watching the "332 Red Tails" flying overhead. That was a reference to real world history, and another example of leaving Black people with no support or acceptance after having taken on heroic acts. The WWII 332nd Fighter Group was better known as the Tuskegee Airmen, and there was a LucasFilm movie made about them called "Red Tails".

Exactly 💯

Ironic that Walker took the serum because of his inferiority complex - only to have THAT magnified as well.

I LOVE your guys comments! Keep 'em coming!! ❤

Unrelated note, I want Bucky's custom Sig Sauer P226. (His looks cooler than mine.)

John Walker got off lucky, especially going all Brett Kavanaugh. Had he been court-martialed, the maximum sentence for voluntary manslaughter (unlawful killing in 'the heat of battle) would have been Dishonorable Discharge, which is the worse of the 5 types of discharge. Other Than Honorable is 3rd, below General under Honorable Conditions, and above Bad Conduct Discharge. He also would be serving 15 years in prison. The only part of the sentence that stuck was the loss of rank and pay. While war can change a person, it doesn't change everything about them. Psychology is complicated, but it's like personality disorders, where part of being a sociopath is genetic (since birth), while the rest of its developmental. Where as something like PTSD is developmental only. The serum is different matter altogether. Part of me thinks that if Sam or Lemar had taken the serum, their reaction to it (in terms of psychology) would be similar to Steve Rogers. Then again the serum is fictional, but I imagine it to be similar to Trenbolone Acetate (a steroid that possession of is a federal offense). -- I've never taken steroids, so I can't imagine what "roid rage" feels like, or how it would change a seemingly harmless rational person into a violent threat. -- What I have heard and even seen, is that steroids will not cure things like immaturity and insecurity, and that steroids actually amplify those. It might be why Schwarzenegger and other action movie actors and bodybuilders took it without any (reported) issues. The main reason I never took them was the sexual side effects. Just to be honest. -- I'm somehow getting the idea that the super solider serum doesn't adversely affect that lol, so the sides (as Lemar says) makes someone 'even more of themselves'. Which explains the insecurity bit. Walker had those before and after.

BTW "Keep 'em" with regard to Torres and the wings... oh yes.

LOL "Val's" business card is blank because she knows if you want to contact her so she can contact YOU. She is a DEEP DIVE Marvel character. Nick Fury's ex-girlfriend, and one of the most ambiguously treacherous characters in the Marvel Universe. What she means to the MCU is so enticing! The most heartbreaking part of this ep is Isaiah Bradley. He was persecuted for doing EXACTLY what Steve did: violating an order to save his brothers. It is a perfect illustration of the double standard we have in America. It is, IMHO, one of the most painful honest scenes in the MCU. And Sam being Captain America is already being met with huge resistance from the right. Which I find DELIGHTFUL. Because the MCU could care less about their opinion. Sam is everything Cap should be. He is as honest a human as Steve Rogers. His strengths are different, but he is as noble and true as Cap needs to be. He is exactly what this country should stand for. I LOVE Sam identifying himself to people as "Paul's youngest boy" That is who he is. Humble, and with pride. And I LOVE seeing Bucky smile. More in. this single ep than in his entire MCU career. The absolute purest scene in this is the therapy advice Sam gives Buck. Once again, he is the healer. African Americans talk of the concept of "Knowledge." It is a word that has almost holy meaning. And Sam has Knowledge. He is a healer. He is a communicator. He is so worthy of being Captain America, and I cannot wait to see that.
