Dobby wouldn’t have died if Harry got serious about S.P.E.W. Heyyyy Brother!!!!! I have been watching SCB for years and love the podcast! Your theories, deep dives and meticulous attention to detail keep the wonder of this story alive and reminds us that there is so much yet to be discovered about the wizzarding world. For instance, I am fascinated with house-elf lore and how their powers seem to exceed wizards, especially in the case of apparition. Unlike wizards, house-elves can apparate and disapparate on the Hogwarts grounds, Voldemort’s cave, Malfoy Manor and most importantly, Dobby was able to disapparate alone while Harry had a hold of him. When Dobby visited Harry in the hospital wing after he lost the bones in his arm, Dobby was able to disapparate while Harry had ahold him. BUT when Yaxley grabbed Hermione while she was disapparating, she accidentally brought him inside the Fidelius Carm’s protection. The Trio knew that they couldn’t go back to Grimmauld Place and Harry was worried the Death Eaters might be torturing Kreacher. It was decided that they would not summon him because they thought he might bring Ministry Death Eaters along with him… But Dobby showed us, elfish Apparition seems to be free from the threat of unwanted side-along-apparition. My questions are, could Harry have summoned Kreacher back without fear of bringing deatheaters? Could Kreacher have helped the trio overcome anti-disapparition jinxes? Could Kreacher have saved everyone from Malfoy Manor? Did Dobby have to die? What if Harry got serious with S.P.E.W. and truly understood house elfs?
