Life-Drawing Sketches

Hi everyone,

I went to a life-drawing session a few days ago and thought I would share my sketches with you!

I can't afford these very often, but when I do manage, I always love it and feel energised and inspired after. I enjoy the social aspect of them too, and god knows I need more human interaction in my life, reluctant though I am to seek it out.

I used my Prismacolors for this session, which I had never done before, and absolutely loved it.

I tried to organise the drawings in the order we did them, and the circled number is the minutes and the roman numeral is the number of the pose (as in whether it was the first, second, third...etc...pose we did...).

We started with a few 5 minute poses.

My first one went surprisingly well, and then the second one punished me for my hubris. XD

I started to feel like I was hitting my stride around the 7th pose, perhaps because we switched to 10 min poses by that point.

The ninth pose (right, above) was the toughest one this session because of the angle I was sitting at, but it was great fun!

I definitely feel like I am improving with foreshortening!

Our last pose was 20min, and I was a little disappointed that she chose a pose she had already done, but it was a good opportunity for me to try and avoid the mistakes I did with the first version of it she did.

As you can see, I went wrong at first (pink lines) and went over everything in blue to correct, a technique I really like to use instead of erasing.

I don't like erasing much with figure drawing as it takes up valuable time, and I also like to use pencils that are soft which means they are more difficult to erase.

Overall, this session felt wonderful, and it also helped me fill out a few pages of my sketchbook, and I am now pretty much all done with it, so I should be able to post a full PDF of it and perhaps a Youtube tour soon!

I finished it off with a few sketches which I'll be sharing with you tomorrow, a few of which will allow me to get some pending print designs for rewards ticked off, so I am closer to printing and packing your packages!

Thank you for reading this post,
I hope you are well,
See you tomorrow!

All my love, M

Oh you should if you find some! I've never been to a session I disliked honestly. People can be a bit focused or a bit quiet and shy, but they warm up once you see the same faces a few different times. It's such a nice environment. I hope you'll find some to go to!

These are so wonderful! I'd loooveeee to join live drawing sessions so much as it's something I'm genuinly interested in, but also because I have 0 social life in my town. Even after living here for 4.5 years. And I want to meet more like-minded people in real life. That 9th pose surely is challenging, but I think it looks amazing!

Thank you Daniela!

Wonderful drawings and glad to know you had a great time!
