Finished Mini Paintings! + Tote Bags

Hi peeps,

I finished the little paintings I shared the work in progress pictures for a few weeks ago, so here are the final pieces!

These will all be with me at the market on Sunday, and any unsold items will go on my store after that.

I also filmed my process and the video timelapse will go up for $5+ patrons later today. <3

I'm still scrambling to get everything ready for the market, and while I enjoy doing these, I look forward to next week when things will calm down a little and I can start focusing on other work again. T_T

First off, the little swallow :

This one feels like a piece that, while I personally love it, might be less appealing to others? Not sure. It's always a difficult thing to judge. But usually, if something is a personal favourite for me, it garners less general appeal, which is fine, but is a funny tendency I have noticed XD

Swallows hold a special place in my heart, as I grew up having to regularly save them from my grand-mother's attic, in which they got stuck. We would have to chuck them from the roof, and it was always an experience.
Their song was also synonymous with summer, days spent outside bare foot, and fruit ripening on the trees. Light until late, dinner outside, and bats at dusk.

I really like this little piece...I want to paint more birds...

Next up,

The little unfolding frame with the deconstructed hand :

I really like this one too :)

And I am really chuffed that I managed to find another frame like this!

I am excited to explore this sort of deconstruction imagery more in depth in my work. I think it could work so well for so many different visual applications!

Wouldn't it be neat as a pendant?
A shirt?

A series of paintings?
I dunno, I have lots of ideas. :)

(Trying to photograph these clear glass pieces is...an adventure...XD)

And finally, the little box frame!

I ordered 0.05 micron specifically for drawing on these little lace papers, and I thoroughly enjoyed working so finely.
This piece is probably the least in line with my current body of work but I think it fits well with the kind of frame and paper is was meant for.

And finally, I just wanted to share pictures of these trial tote bags I got made for the market!

I ordered the bags in small quantities, and from 2 different companies, to test out the products, and each company presented with some pros and cons.

The white bag is probably the best quality out of the two (Vista Print), and was also the most expensive (twice as expensive per bag in fact).
The cotton is thick and feels very good, and the print came out beautifully.
The main cons for that one are that the design max size is a little smaller than I would ideally want, and the bag itself is a bit smaller that ideal too (14x14). It is wider than the black bag though, with extra panels for the bottom and sides, as opposed to just a front and back panel sown together like the other bag..

The black bag on the other hand is bigger (16x14), and the design could also be printed bigger, but is of a lesser quality.

The material is thinner, and the print quality is rougher.
But they were half the price, so I can't say I'm unhappy. You get what you pay for and I'm perfectly fine with that.

White printing is also trickier than colour printing so it's more similar to a vinyl transfer than a printing job.

I ordered 10 of the white design and 16 of the black design, and I will be bringing them all to the market to see how they perform.

That's all for now!

I apologise for the lack of posts this month, every time I need to focus on special events, or anything on top of my existing workload, things get all out of wack. I have a few things I want to implement to try and regulate all that so that Patreon doesn't get affected too much, and I'll talk about those things soon!

In the meantime,

Thank you for being here and being amazing,

Sending you all my love,
M
