Daily Doodle Diary 2022 - #6

Hello peeps, 

I've been functioning a little slower than usual lately (I think I am in one of those slight energy slumps from not having had a break in a little while), so my daily doodles haven't been as consistent as I would like them to be but I did manage enough pages to gather a little batch for you. ;)

Whenever I am struggling to keep up with the practice, I mostly try to work direct from reference. I don't try to push myself to create anything too detailed or in-depth, and I stick to an amount of effort that feels comfortable. 

I will always need practice drawing faces so portraits are often my go to for small practice doodles. 

When my energy levels feel a little healthier, I try small concepts, but I usually stick to my comfort zone still. 

The key with trying to keep up with this habit for me is to always make sure I allow it to fit within my practice and daily life easily and without strain. Allowing myself to make messy lines, mistakes, and not question whether it feels "finished" or not is crucial and something I am trying very hard to become better at. 

Sometimes, I try to make things a little different in small ways, in order to keep them feeling fresh. It might not seem like a dramatic shift, but even something as simple as taking up two pages two days in a row, and overlapping the drawings helped me connect with the fun of the exercise for days when I really wasn't in the mood. 

Monochrome images are something I find quite soothing and pleasing, so that is another technique I like to have fun with on days when drawing itself isn't all that attractive to my tired brain. 

I think that spread might be my favourite. I quite like the colour combination!
