Daily Doodles Diary - 2021 #3

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to have this batch uploaded last week but I was unwell over the week end and didn't manage to draw let alone post, my apologies.
So here are the last few days of Daily Doodles for February as well as a few into March!

I am thinking of making a small painting of this above idea.

While I am finding the process of drawing in my diary a lot smoother and easier than I did in 2020, I am still finding it a little difficult to do so during the week-ends. I think it stems from my routine being very different during the week. It is now ingrained in me that I should do my daily doodle first thing in the morning while at my desk, and my diary has a dedicated spot I always know to find it in.
During week-ends, I try to avoid going into my office if I can help it, to maintain a healthy-ish work-life balance, so I often forget to retrieve my sketchbook during the day.

That's the next habit I will be working on I suppose :)

My favourites from this batch are probably 20-21 (the spread with the moth-eaten character). Although I also enjoy the bright colours of 23, as well as the concept of 26.

Do you have a favourite page from this batch?

I hope you are all doing well <3
Best, M

To be honest, I think you are right, and I am considering doing that. Being able to step away from any activity related to work, no matter how enjoyable, is probably a good way to get some healthy rest. Thanks Dawn :)

(hit enter too soon...) In the interest of keeping a balance between work and life, I would be tempted to abandon the weekend doodle and call it a 5 day a week challenge. I say Never smash the healthy habits we form by accident.

I would say that the leave the weekends for respite is a fabulous habit to have developed. I understand committing to a doodle-a-day but, in the interest of keeping a balance.

Yes, same here!! Thanks Jeske :)

I like that one, and I actually drew it out in the diary because I wanted to keep the idea somewhere to revisit later. Glad you like it too!

Yes, I have been enjoying playing with light, colour and values lately ^^

I would love to see where you take 26; it probably grabs my attention the most, though I enjoy all of them. Thanks for sharing!

I totaly feel you about the weekends! On weekdays I manage to draw something pretty much every day, despite being busy all the time (studying and work which are pretty much the same thing and take up all my time). While on weekends, especially Saturdays, I just don't manage to draw or sketch anything. Sunday evenings are usually better. The first time I missed a Saturday I was beating myself up because I was very aware of missing out, but I'm at peace with it now. Having fun is still the most important thing! I absolutely love these portraits where you play with light/shadow, but the concept from 26 is my #1 favourite!

I feel like there is more focus on light/shadow contrast on these, I love them all!
