Hello everyone,
The 3rd painting is done!
Here's "Struck"!
This one went through a good amount of changes from the initial concept to the finished piece.
As you can see, I didn't end up following the branches/mushroom-head line of thought, and ended up turning the character into a stump burning up from the inside, in the manner trees struck by lightning do.
This makes the piece even more reminiscent of "Kindling" (below), which I like, as I am finding myself more and more attracted to the idea of creating a few series of paintings along similar themes and symbolisms.
Maybe I could create a series of small zines around them too....but I have quite a few projects to tackle first, haha.
It's also interesting for me to see just how much I have evolved since July 2019, both in style and skill.
This piece is my favourite in the series of 5 paintings so far.
I love the blustery atmosphere set by the sky and field, an effect I wasn't all that confident I would be successful in achieving (the field was a CHALLENGE XD), and how it contrast with the stillness of the cottage and character.
I think this is probably the most narrative-based background I have painted to date, and I look forward to experimenting with that style of illustration more.
I have a strong affinity with loneliness related themes, and this piece strikes a chord in me somewhere deep and familiar.
I hope you will enjoy it too!
One more painting to go and I will be able to send all pending Patreon rewards.
I am so sorry for the wait, I am working on putting a new system in place so I don't fall behind on paintings as much, but in the time being, thank you all so much for your continued patience and kindness, it means more than I can say.
I hope you are all well,
Happy Halloween!
I'm off to take a bath because I'm achy and exhausted after this long week. XD
Wishing you all the most wonderful week end,
Love, M
