Hey peeps,
I just finished my Redraw of my Inktober 2017 Day 11 piece (as you had all voted on this one). I gave it a title this one, and called it "Fortitude".
I was both excited and also scared to redraw this one, because it was one of my favourite from my 2017 series. I was intrigued as to how I could revisit it, but I also was very happy with the original one.
The only thing that bothered me with the original drawing, was that the arm proportions were off, and the pose felt a little static, so I mostly revisited those aspects, keeping more of the composition and gesture the same.
I obviously am more comfortable with anatomy now than I was 2 years ago, so I went into more detail with the shading of the body also.
All in all, I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other. More than a redraw, I think it is just a different take on the piece. There are things I love more in the original, such as the tranquility and peacefulness of it.
I experimented with adding more life and movement to the redraw, and I think that, rather than improving it, it mostly made it look different, gave it a different atmosphere.
The redraw is somehow busier, more active and full of tiny details. The original one is calmer, more peaceful, and a little darker, in my opinion.
And I like them both. They give me different feelings, and I feel like I need them at different points in my mental state. I like that.
That is something I love about redrawing old pieces.
It does allow me to see my improvement in various areas (in this case, anatomy and risk taking mostly), and also shows me how I've personally changed, what I'm feeling like at this point in time, and what I needed to create.
Revisiting a beloved piece is scary, but I think that if it is taken less with the idea of improving on something, and more with the desire to explore ourself, then it is really interested, and very beneficial to self-improvement.
You can see the original piece below.
I'd love to hear what you guys think. :)
I have submitted the piece to the book, along with a few other Inktober 2017 pieces. I don't know when I'll hear back, but I'll keep you all updated. Fingers crossed!

✦ MAY PHYSICAL REWARDS
I am currently in the process of packaging all the physical Patreon rewards for May, and I will be sending them all out (along with anything any of you may have ordered in the sale) next week.
✦ MAY STEP-BY-STEP
I was hoping to have the time to put together the Step-by-Step for this month today, but unfortunately, this step-by-step of Moondust is turning out to be very intricate, so I'm afraid I might be late with this one, and will probably have to upload it in June, maybe even July, depending on how much work I manage to get done before my bf and I leave for our holiday, mid-June.
I'll aim to upload the June Step-by-Step of Unravelling in time, but Moondust will take me a little longer to put together.
I hope that's ok with everyone, and I am so sorry for this delay!
I might explore making the step-by-step in video form next month, as it might be more efficient to showcase my painting process, but I'll keep you updated.
✦ ANNIVERSARY Q&A AND GIVEAWAY
The Q&A video is nearly finished, I have filmed the Q&A portion, and now need to edit it, which I will be doing today.
Again, as above, I overshot somewhat on the amount of work I thought I would be able to fit in this week, so I might have to upload it next week, I'm so sorry!
I will be announcing the winner of the giveaway in the video, and will send that out with the May rewards.
UPDATE : Patreon isn't happy about my offering a giveaway of the hand painting and has asked me to remove the giveaway. I have gotten in touch with their team, as this giveaway is for existing patrons only, and was not created or advertised as an incentive for others to sign up to my page (which is what would be a problem), but while I wait for a reply, I'm afraid that I am going to have to cancel the giveaway.
I am so sorry everyone, I don't want to get in trouble with the platform, I hope you can understand. I'll keep you updated!

I am so so sorry for the delay on this content, I was a little too ambitious in how much I aimed to get done this month I'm afraid. I hope you can forgive me.
✦ JUNE
June will be a little weird, and I'll have a full update post about it next week, but basically, my boyfriend and I are going on holiday for the last two weeks of June, so I will have to fit most of what I usually do in one month, in two weeks. It's going to be intense.
Not only that, but I will also be trying to put together content to schedule to upload while we're away (Patreon posts and Youtube videos mostly), so I'll kind of have double the workload I usually would.
I'll update you soon about the details, but I wanted to warn you early on too that June might be a little weird! I'll do my best to keep all the regular content coming, but I might have to push some stuff back to July. I'll do my best not to, but I just wanted to be fully honest with you before it all kicked off.
I'm really looking forward to our holiday, but I am not looking forward to the amount of work I'll have to do to make up for the time away, haha.
Anyway, that's all for now,
I apologise again for the couple of things that will be late this month, I am so sorry everyone!
I hope you are all well,
Have a wonderful week-end,
Love,
M
