Some Small Hand Studies

Hi peeps,

Merry Monday to all!

I had a pretty busy week-end as I am preparing Phosphenes and The Conflict to be shipped to Bath for a show at the Fringe Arts Bath Festival, and, let me tell you, preparing big framed paintings for shipping is rather stressful! But hopefully the show will be cool.
For those interested, the show will be from the 24th of May to the 9th of June, in Bath, UK. My work will specifically be in the Fantastic and Strange exhibition.
I won't be able to be there myself, but if any of you do manage to pop by, I'd love to see a picture! :)

Other than that, I have a lot to prepare before my boyfriend and I go on holiday in June (I. Can't. Wait.). I haven't had a proper holiday, where you just relax and do nothing for a while, in over 10 years, so let me tell you, I am EXCITED. Plus, we are going by the sea, and the prospect of being able to swim makes me as impatient as a 5 year old.

I think this holiday is going to do me a world of good!

In the meantime, I still have lots of work to do, and I am trying to find my groove again, after all these past months of struggling with my art, by doing smaller studies and paintings.

I have some big concepts I can't wait to get working on, but in my current state of mind, I think I need to take some time on smaller, less pressure pieces first.

That will mean hand paintings, for one, and then some smaller concepts too, which I'll share very soon with you all.
To prepare for the hand concepts, I did a few studies in my SketcbookCo sketchbook, using gouache and watercolour.
I have been really enjoying using watercolours first, and then layering a little gouache on top to add some detail and definition.

I hope you like those little studies!

We are going to Corsica! I wanted to be by the sea...:) Your holiday sounds absolutely fantastic too!

It is isn't it! Autumn, the maker, is amazing.

Oh no, that sketchbook is so beautiful!

Ow how nice ! vacation πŸ– I wish you a fun and relaxing time. Where are you going? Mijn family and I will go to Tuscany in July. Farniente, swimming, nice food and hopefully some cultural trips to Firenze....

These studies are beautiful. I love the flat colors. And I completely understand how you feel. I have nine days of vacation to look forward at the end of June and I can’t wait. I will be a complete beach bum. Hopefully your much needed and overly deserved vacay will refresh your mind!
