What's in the works + Exclusive news

Hi peeps!

I don't know if you are interested in those longer word-heavy update posts I do every so often, but hopefully you don't mind them. I find it important to keep you updated, and not make you feel like I've forgotten you if I don't post for a little while. I know most of you are the best, and trust me, but it's more of a personal standards thing. It's a matter of personal and professional pride for me to keep you in the loop. :)

I will have a second post in a few days to say thank you and to detail where your money goes, how it helps me, and how my life is structured and what my schedule generally looks like.
Transparency is incredibly important to me, and I want you all to be certain of how I use the support you lend me. Last month was also a bit of a financial milestone thanks to you all, and I will go into more detail as to why soon.

In the meantime, here are a few updates!  ♥

I just got back from the post office and have sent all of the physical rewards for this month!
As always, do let me know if you receive them safe and sound, and don't hesitate to get in touch should there be any issues.

Here's a little break down of all the things I have planned.
As always, this isn't necessarily all for this month, as it all depends on how much time I have, but these are all things I will definitely be uploading at some point, sooner rather than later.

I wanted to apologise for not having been able to upload a few of those, some of which I have been talking about for a little while. I promise it isn't due to me being lazy, but quite the contrary ; I tend to overwork myself and overshoot when it come to how much work I can fit into one week!
Everything I ever announce is something I am working on, and will upload. As soon as it is published in a post, I have seriously committed to it and it is now on my to-do list. It's just that sometimes things come up and come in the way, I hope you understand. My next update post will go into my schedule more in detail, if that's something you'd be interested in knowing more about.

Anyway, enough babbling (I go on sometimes, don't I...), here's a peak at projects in the works for you!

Already mentioned in previous updates :
●  The real-time video (only the voiceover left to do)
●  A timelapse of my first ever still-life painting
●  A post of my experience painting in plein-air for the first time (with successful and failed paintings)
●  I am in the process of painting my big piece for this month, hoping to get the PDF done by the end of next week
●  Still planning on doing those hand paintings, but they have been put on the back burner for a bit because of stuff I talk about in the "Fun News" section. I do want to have them done this summer though, so we can get another sticker design on the way.

New things :
●  I will be painting an exclusive Patreon piece that will be part of a giveaway to celebrate reaching our $250 goal!
●  A detailed post about how I make your prints, just so the info is out there and clear and all
●  A master-post about how I stretch my watercolour paper
●  A master-post about how I transfer my sketches to the final paper to paint
●  I will be paintings a few more things that you will get first peak at, as well as wip shots (see "Fun News" section)
●  I would like to upload an extra sketchbook PDF of one of my old sketchbooks full of weiiirddd sketches at some point! I didn't manage to upload my old art when I was home, as I had promised, as my parents are in the process of moving, so everything was in boxes, sorry!

These are projects I haven't told anyone about yet, and won't for at least another few days, if not weeks!

❶  A few weeks ago, a filmmaker friend of mine got in touch and asked if I would be interested in him doing a little short docu about me and my work, to which I said yes! It is only going to be about 2 or 3 mins, and will be all sleek and fun and artsy and he's coming over this week end to film, and I am genuinely quite excited!
I am also ever so slightly terrified, since I'm not used to being in front of the camera, hahaha!
I think it will be fun though, and a good little thing to put up on my website and on my Youtube as a channel trailer, if all goes well. Would you like an exclusive preview of it when it is all done? ;)

❷  This second news is still really quite uncertain, since I still haven't signed a contract, but there is a chance I might be part of a group show in October, in a gallery in Orlando, Florida.
The gallery owner got in touch a few weeks ago (thanks Nadia!♥) and asked if I would be interested. I am still in discussion with him about it, as there are a lot of details to work out before I officially agree to it, and he is working on a contract, so a lot will depend on that too, but I am starting prep on that either way, since I would need to create between 5 and 10 paintings for it, which is...a lot.... and if I want those done by the September deadline, I need to get on it right away. (It might not sound like a lot in 3 months, but I'll explain more in my next post.).
And if you're wondering why I would start working on something that isn't confirmed yet, well, whether the show goes ahead or not, it is a good incentive for me to crunch down and get a lot of work done, which means more art, which, ultimately, is what I'm here for, isn't it? :)
You guys will obviously be privy to all the behind-the-scenes for that prep, the sketches, the concept, the wips, and all that!  ♥

Right, I think that's it for me for this post!

As always, let me know what you think in the comments, and don't hesitate to tell me what you'd like to see, or what you're excited about...or how you are in general!

I'll see you soon with another novel, and hopefully some wips too ;)

Love you all,
Have a wonderful day,

Myr

PS : Don't pay any attention to my ever-changing header designs, I'm experimenting...XD

Comments

Oh, I'm not going no, haha, absolutely cannot afford it, although I would love to! Hopefully one day :) Thank you for your kind words lovely!

Ditto to all the good things said! I wish I could go to Florida (provided you’re going...) and meet you and see your art in person. Oh well.... & CONGRATULATIONS on the boyfriend & flat situation... 😊

That was quick! I'm glad you like them lovely Kristy!

I received my beautiful print and postcard today - thank you so much!

Oh woaw, what a comment, thank you Liyums! Lovely to meet you by the way, I hope you guys are all well! I'm glad you liked the portrait, I had never done a portrait in my style, so it was tricky, but you were the perfect subject to try this on, as you are so lovely and interesting. :) I don't necessarily feel "obligated" to update you guys, not in the sense that it feels like a chore, I really enjoy writing longer posts and updates for you all, I just sometimes wonder if those posts aren't somewhat boring since you are technically here for art, not babble, haha. I'm glad a bunch of you seem to be enjoying my ramblings though, I feel like I can share a bit more of me like that! You guys are all so sweet, telling me to take care of myself an all, I really appreciate you all!! I definitely need to be careful, I am quite good at pushing myself a bit too far sometimes, but I think this summer will be a good test of my limits and good training as far as finding a good work-life balance will be. I definitely want to be able to find a good rhythm. I have no intention of neglecting Patreon, something I really like doing in trying to find ways to make everything work together, so I'm excited about showing you guys the work I will produce for the gallery and getting your opinion on it. It will be the most work I'll have produced in such a short amount of time, and that means I should have a bunch of cool content to share with you, which makes me really happy :) I'm so sorry to hear you are in pain, I get sciatica and wrist pain nowadays, so I can relate a tiny bit, and I hope you have some time to rest and take care of yourself <3 I LOVE gardening though, and I can so TOTALLY relate to your excitement about the strawberries! I was so upset about the gardeners cutting down our blackberry bushes in our garden, I so look forward to those berries every year! And I went for a walk the other day and found some wild grapes and wild garlic, and I honestly can't tell you how excited I was. Like a little kid. I love it. I hope you'll get to enjoy those strawberries!! All my love, M

Oh, I'm glad it got to you well, thanks Ana! And if the show goes ahead, I would be happy to share my experience with all of you for sure. I think the gallery is quite new, and more used to doing photography shows than fine art, so they are themselves a bit inexperienced, which is making communication a bit all over the place, and perhaps not the best representation of what being exhibited is like, but I'd be happy to do a post about it detailing more of it all :) Great idea, thank you!

Thanks Taylor, it makes me very happy that you are so enthusiastic about this! :)

Hehe, your comment made me chuckle, I am so good at giving advice I don't follow! I suppose we are well placed to know the effects of not following said advice ;) I'm absolutely the worst at taking time off, and thrive under pressure, but also get really stressed about it, so maybe it'll be good training to be better with myself!

We are always always interested in updates no matter how short or long to be honest we prefer the long ones because it gives us a bigger insight into you and your ways plus we love to read things from you because we look up to you I understand it's more of a personal standards thing that you like to keep us up to date and you feel obligated to do so but If work gets to much and writing or posting on here prevents you from having down time (yep I'm joining the band waggon) Then I think we would all prefer you to have the Down time and post when your next able to and just saying something like you wanted to post but we told you to have some down time so you did that instead (I believe all your patreons would understand you doing this and approve of it) the last thing we want is you making yourself ill or worse (sorry lecture over) 😉 Don't feel you have to but i personally would be very interested in how the patreon supporters help you financially I mean we don't expect you to tell us how you spend every penny and we know you bought your printer which was helped by us and was a massive step that seems to have paid off already (correct me if I'm wrong please) But I understand how transparency is important especially to the people who are supporting you each month We would be interested in how your daily life is structured and what your schedule generally looks like We received our prints we ordered and the painting you did of us (which as unusual as it is is beautiful too so thank you thank you thank you for doing us) As for what your working on and what your 'commited' to we would never ever demand or expect something to be up and on because you've mentioned it even if you have committed to it I think we all understand that some things take longer than expected especially in the art world I think I can speak for everyone that nobody would ever think you were lazy (quite the opposite, we know that you work hard (quite often too hard) and that you do your very best and we respect that (for what it's worth) In your work to come we are very interested in the piece just for patreons (and we will hopefully win the giveaway hehe) We are also very interested in the still life painting, monthly PDF, how you transfer your price onto the final piece, especially your old sketchbook PDF (with the weird art) I'm soooooooo excited for you to be doing your own mini documentary video (he's very lucky to be working with you) and don't be worried about being on camera your beautiful (don't let anyone tell you any different) not that I can give advice in that department, you must be beside yourself with excitement for this little documentary it will look so good i know it will and it will be very good for your website and YouTube channel as well And lastly the most exciting new that you might be doing a gallery in Florida (I really hope it works out for you, that you get the contract signed and all the pieces confirmed soon It sounds like such an amazing opportunity for you and your art work But I'll be honest 3months doesn't sound like that long to do 5-10 pieces when you counter in coming up with the ideas sketching them out in rough then doing the actual piece as a final each ones can take a long time in itself plus you do so many other things but if/when you sign the contract you should definitely work dominantly on those pieces (even if it does mean not posting on here as much) this is a massive opportunity for you and we would hate for you to drown yourself in to much other work and not get all the pieces done on time just because you was worried about doing things for your patreons (of course we would be over the moon to see the works as they progress into thier final pieces if your allowed to post them but only If your allowed and maybe an update on how your doing every so often but honestly this is a big thing for you so ciese the opportunity with both hands and (well don't forget about us but put the gallery first) we will totally understand honestly Thank you for a lovely update Sorry I'm doing a you 😉 with the essay hope it's not too long but as you can see I wanted to cover everything lol Love Liyums (One of Lexies alters) p.s. I love the headers In this update Oh as for us we are doing ok I guess (in quite alot of pain at the moment (just about to dose up on some more orahmorphe for my back) mainly In more pain than usual because I did some gardening today (we are trying to get a nice garden but it was extremely overgrown (I mean like 2-3 feet overgrown) but I had an amazing surprise while I was taking up some of the weeds (I found to my ultimate surprise 4 little strawberries growing under the massive weeds) thank you little dicky birds ☺ I can't wait til they are big enough to eat I just hope the birds or other wildlife don't eat them first 😂 because they are only tiny right now but they already look sooooo good maybe that's because they are growing in my garden so I'm biased 😁 Sorry I will go now Night Love Liyums

It all sounds very exciting :) but I agree that schedule relaxation is a must! If I may add to the list - it would be interesting to know about your experience talking to the gallery (on what things somebody need to pay attention etc ). I know that I maybe never come to that point but I’m curious about things behind the works. And in other news my order came safely ;)

I'd LOVE to see the mini documentary! I think it'd be very cool to see what you do and how you work- it would be cool to see it from someone else's perspective! And I'm very excited about seeing how you stretch watercolour paper and transfer sketches!!

aw that's so exciting! Good luck with flat hunting :D congrats ^_^

Gosh, how very exciting and how terribly busy-sounding! I hope the gallery show comes through for you - that will be fantastic! I’m also looking forward to reading what your days look like - because I am incredibly nosey! :) Good luck with the flat move as well - and do try to take some down-time - this is very hypocritical of me to say so because I don’t do it either.....

My boyfriend mentioned taking a couple days to go to the sea at some point in June or July, plus we need to take a few days to hunt for a flat (we are moving in together end of July), so hopefully I'll be forced to take a few days off. Because I literally need to be forced to to do so XD

Seconding what sofie said, schedule down time for you :P but this all sounds amazing! Good luck :D

I'll show you guys an early preview for sure! I think it'll be cool, he's really good :) And thank you lovely, I will be honest, I am quite tired and stressed by the amount of stuff ahead of me this summer, but thankfully, it all means work is going well, so I can't really complain too much, hehe :)

It all sounds amazing! Would love to see the little documentary as soon as possible. How fantastic! It all sounds so good and the best of luck to you with it all ❤️ Remember to take care of yourself and have a break sometimes. You are amazing!

Sofie
