π [Update especially important to $20 tier patrons!] π
Hi all!
( Novel incoming....sorry....)
Here is a little update to explain my lack of activity on social media, and my lack of new sketches and original art, and to let you in on some changes I want to implement on here!
As you know I am currently in France for a quick last minute trip home, and it is proving more difficult to fit drawing in than I thought, as I obviously don't have all my supplies, as well as a proper set up (I have to work from the living room, so admin is fine but drawing and painting are more difficult).
However, I have been thinking about how to improve my Patreon a lot, and I have come to a few conclusions that I would love your point of view on, given that you are the primary people affected by those decisions!
First of all, I have decided to invest in a proper printer, so I can start making my own prints. This will be a significant chunk of money to spend, which stresses me out a lot, and I was planning on taking that step a little later, but I think it is time. Having my own printer will allow me to have sales on my shop, and also offer more physical rewards on here.
Which leads nicely into my second point ; I will be changing some existing tiers (subject to your input, obviously) and adding new ones!
Here is what I need your opinion on, especially $10 and $20 tier peeps:
β½ How interested are you really in real-time videos? I am getting the feeling that these might not be a priority to anyone that pledged, so I was thinking of perhaps changing those to irregular rewards available to some of the lower tiers too (akin to my irregular portrait timelapses and the like). Instead of those, I might work on putting together some tutorial PDFs (written down versions of my video tutorials basically), that would be available for download by your tier whenever I release a new tutorial.
β½ Similarly, how interested are you in the "Submit work for critique" reward? I haven't had any submissions so far, so I'm assuming this wasn't why you signed up for that tier? Would you all be ok with this reward just being deleted altogether?
β½ Instead of entering your name in a monthly giveaway, I would like to upgrade the $20 tier to a monthly print. It would be an 8x11 print. You would get a choice of 3 pieces every month (one study, one sketch, one painting) from which you could vote for the print of the month.
The $10 tier would retain its giveaway reward.
β½ I will be adding a few tiers above $20. I am still fine-tuning those, but here's the gist :
β€· I am thinking of adding a $30 Collector tier, that would get a 5x7 print and an 8x11 print (plus stickers and pins when available) (in addition to all other non-physical rewards). Slots would be limited.
β€· I'll also be creating an Advice Tier for $50 that will offer patrons the opportunity to exchange emails with me for critiques and advice every month (in addition to all other non-physical rewards). It would be limited to 2 slots a month.
β€· And finally, I might add a Commission Tier (in addition to all other non-physical rewards)(its availability would fluctuate) . It would be quite an expensive tier (between $300 and $500), as commissions are not something I usually do, and can be a tricky thing to fit in a busy schedule, and slots would be limited to one person per month. This is the tier I am least sure about, and I might give it some more thought, but I would be interested in your opinion!
These changes would all come into play for May, hopefully (if I manage to get my printer set up by then).
In the meantime, I will still be uploading the real-time video I promised you all, and the giveaway print rewards will go out as planned.
PS : Stay tuned for a few thumbnails for my next big painting! I'll be uploading them on here for your eyes only, and would love to hear your opinion on your favourite composition! Also to come will be reference packs, still-lives timelapses, heart sketches for a painting series and stickers, and a bunch more... β‘
Well done and thank you if you got through this behemoth of a post!
I hope you are all well,
Let me know in the comments your thoughts and opinions, I always love hearing from all of you!
All the best,
M
