Hello my beloved patrons~  \( ̄▽ ̄)/

Please enjoy an (WIP) old OC of mine formerly known as "IOS / PHR34K-BUN" and then try to read the stuff below please. It's about money, your money and mine. I think?

I don't really know how or what to say about the upcoming Patreon changes, but from what I understand I should definitely inform my patrons. So here we go, let me try to put this into words..

Patreon is adding taxes to subs for some reason, I don't know why, I barely understand Norwegian tax laws so I can't even begin to fathom the intricacies and over-complications of the US tax system. You can (and should?) read about Patreon taxes here.

My brain literally hurts from trying to read this crap but here's what seems like the most important part for you:

Some patrons will see an additional line item on their receipt for sales tax starting July 1st. Since tax laws and rates vary from country to country and state to state, the amount  will be different for different patrons. The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws will be paid directly to local governments.

Now I, Geirzone, have tried my best to read and understand and put into action "advanced sales tax settings" in an effort to "save my patrons a small amount of sales tax in some cases". All my tiers have been adjusted to support the new advanced sale tax crap so here's hoping it won't be too much.

Phew.. Now my partner is American, from Michigan, and they've tried to explain US taxes and how people literally spend hours on them every year to send in something or other to the IRS. Some people even pay for advanced PC programs to help them or spend thousands hiring others to do it for them.

Here in Norway we have an app. The app requires me to read some numbers and if they look right, I tap 3 fields. Then I hit "send". That's it, done!
I've now filed my taxes and it'll be a year til next time.
This isn't me bragging, this is me illustrating how utterly clueless I am in this scenario.

So yeah, I can't really explain this new tax thing at all, I just need you to know that your pledges might be automatically adjusted to conform with this new US tax law thing.
Again, like in all crisis or similar, I will not begrudge you wanting to un-pledge or downgrade your pledge.

Remember when Patreon was nice & easy to use?  Seems like so long ago now..

With all this said I hope you're still with me, and thank you for reading and supporting me.
I might start looking into Patreon alternatives but from what I hear the pickings are slim.

I love you all, please stay safe and remain strong.
