Enjoy the new episode!

Edit: I've been informed of some corrections I need to make to this episode (thanks for spotting them). These revisions will be in the public release!

EARLY ACCESS: The MacBook Air Changed EVERYTHING (Here’s How)

“You don’t use optical media on your new computers anymore”… I feel attacked… my pc has a 5 year old case just so I can keep my Blu-ray drive because I still use it a lot… still great video though! Keep up the great work!

Well... I should've probably said hookless latch, and not magnetic latch. I edited my message to reflect that.

Regardless, you're right about the MacBooks (I just tested it—oops). Well spotted! I'll edit that part out.

Are you sure the Clamshell had a magnet? Wasn't it just some fancy friction-thingy that the hinge used?

Ken Doe (Computer Clan)

One thing I should point out at 6:06: The MacBook Air wasn't the first Mac notebook to have a hookless catch—that accolade goes to the iBook G3 Clamshell. Since we're talking about Intel-based Macs however, the MacBook Air also wasn't the first to have a hookless latch either—that goes to the 2006 MacBooks.

Oh! That odd duck. Well spotted. I'll add in a disclaimer.

When Apple introduced the cylinder-shaped Mac Pro that did away with the optical drive, Apple was still selling the 2012 MacBook Pro (with the built-in optical drive) back then. At timestamp (9:15), you were still technically correct when you said that the Mac Pro was *the lasted updated* Mac to do away with the optical drive. I thought I'd clear things up for you.

Sorry, but I don't understand. What does that have to do with this episode??

Ken Doe (Computer Clan)

Technically, Apple was selling the 13-inch MacBook Pro from June 2012 for years before it was discontinued in October 2016. That model had the HDD configuration.
