Innocent Devil’s Harem Ch. 215

Miriam’s blonde maid was completely focused on me as she approached us in the Dining Hall...

December 8, 2025

NOTE: I am about halfway through the next Combat Healer chapter (been working on it when I can over the last couple of weeks and was hoping to post it, but couldn't get through a whole chapter). So assuming I can finish it this next week, then that's what I'll be posting.

Because of the feedback in the last few chapters, I've become very uncertain every time I post a chapter (because it's only requiring 'minor adjustments' to go from 'not fine' to 'fine' and that makes it feel like I'm walking a very fine line between 'hate this direction' vs 'love this direction').

So I'm not 100% sure how you guys will feel about this chapter. I 'think' you'll like it, but there were also problems with the last two that I hadn't anticipated.

If you need me to clarify or modify something, I can certainly do that, but I'm hoping we are past the point of this general idea being a problem (after the changes I made the last few chapters). But if not, let me know. If all it requires is a simple adjustment to a sentence here or there, then I can certainly do that.

At the end of the day, the entire point of this 'ruse' is to be a 'fun thing,' and so if it's not fun then I'm clearly missing the mark. Sometimes it's just a mismatch of what I 'think' is being communicated vs how it actually comes off. Just let me know.

Hope you enjoy!

FEEDBACK: Thoughts?

1. Thoughts on Amber's games? (We've got three of them introduced in this chapter.)

2. Thoughts about Amber's reaction to realizing he's part-incubus? (It will be addressed again, but Miriam's reaction kind of saved the day.)

3. Thoughts on Miriam hiring Cherry and/or Candy? (Even if part-time, the goal would again be meant as a fun thing.)

4. Any concerns with this chapter, or have I resolved the issues? (I can make adjustments if needed. Ideally, I would hope you guys are enjoying the story, not having reservations. So let me know which way you're leaning with this chapter. And yes, the goal is to get back into the main plot soon. These chapters are partially meant to get a feel for who Amber really is as a person, something that may help them gather some important clues.)

#1- Amber's games feel almost typical of a fem-domme. Even 'Choke the Snake' could be about her forcing a submissive to not cum while she teased him by deep throating him. I guess it makes sense that some succubi/kitsune are hyper focused on controlling their partner's orgasms if that is what their whole existence is predicated on. I would say, Deliah and Rebecca feel like that at times.

Christopher Miller

#2- It kind of feels like he's enthralled by Miriam and so, since super cautious Miriam doesn't fear him, Amber feels safe around him as well. After all, he's in the only home Miriam has known for the last thousand years, and physically near the only people that Miriam really cares about. This probably gives Amber a ton of confidence that Miriam is super sure Kai is no danger too them.

Christopher Miller

#3- I think that hiring ANY of the girls and using the rings on them would be fun. Especially the ones that can be dominant at times. It would be fun to watch someone like Natalie be turned into a good little kitten.

Christopher Miller

#4- Amber is a bit of an enigma ATM. That might be partially because Kitsune aren't as maternal as humans and succubi? I know if I knew my adult children were being traumatized I would be much more upset than she seems to be. It makes sense that Amber is not hostile at this point if she and Miriam have been lovers for 15 years. Miriam, and possibly Gwen might be the only real friends she has. That is quite a bond, possibly her only legitimate connection to anyone.

Christopher Miller

Hard tell if she's friend or foe is definitely my goal at this point. And you're right, they are taking some significant risks. I'll try to point out in the next chapter 'why' they aren't taking the situation more seriously.

I appreciate the feedback! You said: "On the other hand, it does come across slightly over-explained like trying to defend it as being "only" fun, which does kind of make it suspicious..." And I just had to laugh. I literally 'over-explained' because there was so much concern and confusion, and now I've made it 'suspicious' because I put so much emphasis on that. I feel like I can't win here XD At the end of the day, regarding the 'risk,' we are dealing with two issues: (1) They don't want to tip Amber off, and (2) Miriam is the one mainly in control of the situation, and she's perhaps having a lapse of judgement because of her tail influencing her (maybe I need to make that more clear in the upcoming chapter, after Amber leaves). Basically, this is probably the worst possible time for Miriam's tail to be 'acting up' and it's definitely changed the direction this would have gone otherwise. There have been several points where I commented that 'Miriam hesitated' and the 'implied issue' here is that she could have put a stop to it right then and there, at any one of those points, but chose not to. And you're right, it's a bit illogical and risky to put them in a vulnerable position, and maybe there will be consequences from it, but there is a stated reason for why it's happening (I thought it was fairly clear, but I suppose it must not be now that I think about it). The other issue is definitely the kitsune charm. It's already been shown how powerful Raegan's charm is, and how it has a bit of a unique effect (it is 'like' a succubus charm, but it has a powerful effect that deviates and is even strong enough to affect a succubus). Quite a bit of time was spent on that 'issue' though I admit it hasn't really been brought up recently as a main focal point. But I'll definitely have to bring it up later, but the sense of 'low risk' they are currently experiencing is absolutely because Amber does have a very powerful charm that has the effect of preventing her from being viewed 'as a threat' by anyone (similar to Raegan, though much more powerful). There's a lot of this that has been heavily implied, and I feel like all the pieces should make sense, but I suppose it's something that only makes sense in hindsight (after it's been pointed out). I'll try to keep that in mind for the next chapter.

Author Kaizer Wolf

But she is relevant to the plot. Someone who looks exactly like Amber has been revealed to be a true threat, with her having a very severe negative reaction to Kai. The fact they have no idea who this person is, as they can clearly shapeshift their entire appearance, kind of explains why Kai and everyone else are being cautious around 'this' Amber; additionally, it makes sense that they are taking extra precautions and steps to ensure they can find out who she truly is, whilst at the same time keeping everyone, especially Miriam, safe from harm, seeing as if 'this' Amber is truly the threat, then she can seemingly effortlessly bypass the mansions barriers and fool/manipulate both Miriams soul-scrying and Gwens mind reading abilities. At least thats my view on why this current plot point is taking a bit more time to resolve itself, with the amount of chapters almost mirroring the wariness which Kai and the rest are exhibiting.

Carl

I'd like to, respectfully, say that i personally disagree with this statement. Just because certain characters havent been at the forefront of the story recently, doesnt mean that there has been no progress regarding 'relationships'. As the story has progressed and the world Kai knows has expanded, he's been introduced to both new and past faces, which has perhaps meant less time spent on the women he has already deeply connected with, such as Serenity and Gabriella, but that has been needed so that we can get to know and understand who these new women are as people. As far as relationships, we've seen Claires progression from being seen by Kai as a 'bratty, selfish and narcissitic' person, into her becoming someone who he can truly love. Brooke has been introduced and we've seen her devotion to Kai as one of his longest serving allies, with her even manipulating Kais father in the past, all for the sake of Kais future. Also, Petra, has been shown to be someone who has watched over Kai his whole life and come to love him, with us also finally understanding who Ariana is and what her past relationship with Kai was. The author has also made it clear, in past comments and chapters, that he is now beginning to bring the focus of the story back around to the more "important" women in the harem, with even this plot that involves Amber being used to help showcase some of Miriams past and how much of a sexual deviant she truly was before meeting Kai; additionally, whilst Amber may be 'leading' the current sexual escapades, this whole scenario/situation is also being used as a way for Serenity, Gabriella, Miriam and Kai to have some fun together and perhaps even to help them 'reconnect'. So whilst i do agree with you that "certain relationships" havent been the focus of the story recently, to say that "relationships" in general havent been present within recent chapters is, again for me personally, not exactly true.

Carl

I think the games Amber plays make it hard to tell if she is a friend or foe. She obviously isn't as naive as they thought. Something tells me she would remember Kai from his smell if she did nurse him. And how could they overlook Kai's cum being an issue? I think Miriam letting her guard down and being alone with Amber might be an issue. We still don't know if Miriam herself can be controlled or not. She still doesn't have Kai's blood. I guess with all the bad that has happened so far, it's hard to really trust Amber. Especially since her or a person looking like her tried to set Kai up. They might be underestimating Amber's ability to go with the flow until she can strike.

J Bone

I must admit I'm not that big a fan of Amber. I don't have a big negative reaction to her like I thought I might from the early descriptions, but she's still not really a hit. I guess I feel like she's yet another example of a direction the story has taken for a while that I just don't find as enjoyable. Things have focused so much on the sex and the plot, that I feel like the *relationships* are barely present. Serenity and Kai's relationship was one of the things I loved early on, and I think it's been quite a while since they did more than have kinky sex, at this point. Feels like the grounding in who they are and why they love each other is a bit lost. Miriam overcoming her trust issues and discovering her history with Kai was good, too, but we haven't really had much of that lately either... In that context, the personality rings were a miss for me because they were leaning into that problem rather than helping resolve it. I know it's hard to keep a story going on for so long, and I don't mean to say the story has lost all interest for me or anything. I'm still here and still reading every chapter. But the last while hasn't been as compelling. I am curious why Amber isn't more worried about the whole incubus thing, but I assume that will be addressed. No concerns for me this time. The previous issues seem to be pretty well resolved. Just the bigger story direction and balance stuff.

Tejing

Three Chapters on Amber and going on a fourth is too much on a character that is not relevant to the plot is too much. I thought 3 chapters just to travel to Arianna was bad. Please pick up the pace a bit. There are still two more places connected to Kai's house we haven't even touch yet.

David Wong

I understand everything better now but kind want this to be over and see some more plot progression. I don't comment very much but love your stories and first discovered it on free site and found out about your patreon and couldn't be happier, keep up the good work.

Chad Tidwell

Thanks for the chapter! I am of two minds when it comes to this chapter and the previous ones. On the one hand, you are explaining multiple times very detailed what the rings do and what the girls think, so it dulls the edge of the personality change and I think most readers will enjoy it. On the other hand, it does come across slightly over-explained like trying to defend it as being "only" fun, which does kind of make it suspicious with the setting and characters involved, like there is a second shoe yet to drop. I don't know if I will be able to properly put into words what I mean and where the underlying issue with this scenario over the past chapters is for me, but let me try and maybe you might understand me anyway? The description how the rings function was very well done over the past 2 chapters now, they feel less incubus-control level and more "theater"- role play, rather actresses instead of mind controlled. It might help to have a more concise explanation before the encounter with Amber starts, maybe Miriam giving some examples of what to expect or something along those lines if you ever feel like re-writing. I'm personally still somewhat on the fence about the whole situation, but more because I don't see the logic in making everyone so vulnerable when dealing with potentially the worst enemy yet, one who knows private information and secrets. Yes, I get that it is very easy to revert the personalities if necessary, but it is still a risk I never would've thought Kai put his first women in, even if the suppression of their true selves is used as a protection against spilling more knowledge. At least from my reading perspective it just doesn't really add up compared to his character and worries not even that long ago, as it is a difference if he influences them or someone else does. He even admits in this chapter that he has no idea about the extent of Ambers true abilities. Between the lines one could guess at a hint that maybe she is capable of actually screwing them up in this state and there is more to her games and odd game names. That might be the me-problem, if it was only with his girls and they played around with those rings, I could see the pure fun in it and it is a safe environment. With a potentially malevolent stranger added to the mix, one who presumably and maliciously just impersonated one of the most important females in Kais life and has proven to be highly capable of manipulation, it suddenly gets slightly weird. But as I said, I think that's more a me-problem instead of a writing issue and might actually set the proper tension for the whole arc, I want to wait for the next chapters before having an opinion. I am looking forward to a clarification of Ambers position, but I suppose you might have planned that for later, considering the possibility of a third party in the mix if she isn't actually evil. And as a last point: Your writing style is very nice to read, I honestly think you have reached a new professional level in the past few chapters of both stories. Especially the non-sexual parts are getting more exciting and interesting, really capturing the reader. That's the same for Combat Healer, probably even better there. So thanks for taking your time and delivering quality instead of half-cooked quantity! I really enjoyed re-reading the whole Combat Healer story after catching up with IDH.
