FEEDBACK: Thoughts?

Well, that happened.

1. Thoughts on the brief phone call with his father?

2. Thoughts on the 'big reveal' about his origins? Did you expect it? Does everything kind of make more sense now?

3. Thoughts on Petra or Natalie? Or thoughts on 'waking up' Elizabeth? (That part was supposed to be kind of funny...and relatable.)

4. Thoughts on how this chapter ended?

Now we are getting somewhere great. Excellent. Almost getting to meet Eve. Don't know why Kai assumed Eve was sabotaging the deal. We can always be wrong. Absalom's threat was great. LIke an angry child trying to get their way not knowing how the system works. I hope this ends with hugs and kisses. Well and just a bit of the old ultra violence. Thank you.

I forget the exact dates, but Wolfgirl's Pet Witch takes place in the 1600s, and Liz is roughly 25 years older than Ariana.

For the sake of not ruining the ability to even have a plot, Claire's predictive ability would almost certainly have to remain somewhat unpredictable. Certainly, there are ways where someone being able to 'see the future' could be used in a plot and have it be interesting to see how the 'foreseen events' perhaps change on the fly in ways that are 'unexpected' and make the original prediction obsolete (or the prediction itself result in a worse outcome that has to be resolved), but that would require way too much thinking than it's worth, especially since it could open itself up to accidental plot holes. Alternatively, there is the tendency for stories (movies, anime, etc.) to introduce a powerful ability and then just...never use it again. I want to avoid that too, which again means that Claire's power would need to remain unpredictable so that it 'makes sense' that it is used infrequently to resolve situations.

Everyone has touched on my thoughts of the chapter. And as I have said many chapters before regarding an elusive and very dangerous enemy who has knowledge of him and has also influenced disasters in the past without him realizing its all coming from the same enemy source. The genocidal attack on Gwen's family and people, etc. It might even be possible that one or two of the splintered false GODs individual souls he/they took down survived and have been accumulating power as their knowledge of spell craft and memory predating who knows how long before the entity tried to become a god. This is the type of enemy that can actually pose a real threat to Kai with the knowledge and know how to end Kai. And not like all the threats thus far which haven't been much of a threat to him physically at all. This type of threat has the capability and knowledge of possibly turning off the servant bond spell created by Kai on Eve and Roland and corrupting even those who love and submit to him willingly. An enemy like this would constantly keep its existence a secret and attack Kai through influence and triggering disasters that Kai would not be able to stop. Even the Werewolf attack, this entity would definitely have been the controlling influence behind that attack giving that Alpha the cursed dagger that could cut through other wise impenetrable magical barriers to get at Kai and his woman. All knowledge and power not even an old Werewolf Alpha would have.

#1- I think that phone call reinforces just how arrogant Absolom is, and just how clueless he is about his true place in the supernatural realm. Yes, he and the other incubi have unimaginable wealth and the control of governments and the world's economy. But in the grand scheme of things there are powers, like Zephon and the Shadow Trinity that are capable of having him snuffed out with all the effort of stepping on a bug. And he is completely oblivious to this.

Christopher Miller

#2- As to Ariana being his mother, it fits. As to whether Ariana didn't WANT to raise him, or whether it was Kai didn't fully trust her to protect him while he was at his weakest since she feared him so much?

Christopher Miller

#3- Petra has to be terrified that her family that has lasted hundreds of years is disintegrating. Her reactions feel very realistic considering the circumstances. I love how Natalie has become attached to all the MILFs (Rebecca, Michelle and Liz) as surrogate Mom's, and her bitchy attitude was just a desperate attempt to save Elizabeth.

Christopher Miller

#4- I think it's possible that Eve is running a psy op to prove Ariana isn't trustworthy and Kai needs to deal with her. Or possibly this was a ruse to force Ariana to see Kai in all his power so she out of awe accepts an oath of loyalty. But honestly, I don't think that is the most likely outcome. If I was Kai, the first thing I would do is get on the horn to Roland and confirm that the souless clone that was set aside was still secure and not stolen away by an enemy like the Blood Trinity. If I was an opponent of Kai's, the smartest play I could think of would be to go to Kai's strongest ally and whisper all the things in her ear that scare her most to feed her paranoia and turn her against Kai. At the minimum, Kai loses Liz, Bethel and Ariana as allies and is much weaker for it at no cost to this theoretical enemy.

Christopher Miller

"What makes Kai more important than Absolom's other sons"? You mean other than the fact that his compulsion was surprisingly strong, even though he was barely an adult? Or that his mystical senses are so strong that that he can detect things like curses no one else can? How about that he is powerful enough to laugh at Absolom's most powerful artifacts, and cast spells only the most powerful entities on the planet can. How about the fact that Kai can seduce away his most loyal women from him, even though they have been with him for hundreds or thousands of years? From Absolom's POV, if Zephon is in fact possessing Kai, and he is indeed forcing Kai to do these things in opposition to Absolom there is a huge opportunity here. That is assuming that Kai does in fact have this incredibly rare potential that Absolom's seen so far, Kai could end up being one of the most powerful people on the planet, and potentially under the control of Absolom himself. That is my thought. Plus possibly, deep down, he does feel a degree of affection or responsibility for his offspring.

Christopher Miller

It's kind of weird that Absalom is so upset over one of his many sons... What makes Kai more important than the others.. I mean to the point he threatened Kai, who he knows can kill him at will. Why does he keep threatening Kai over and over... Kai's emotions are all over the place. It's been mentioned several times now. He can't control his temper. I wonder if that's what happens when you put a cursed ancient being inside of a new body... Or did he want his new self to feel too much. Because his old self couldn't feel anything. Kai not being able to tell Elizabeth had been captured shows a major weakness in their bonds. I hope that gets resolved. We know that Eve can't act against Kai's interests. So I wonder if she's trying to talk some sense into Arianas....

Had to go back and check Ariana's storyline. I don't remember thinking that Rose's mother was called Liz, at the time, but assumed it wasn't they same person, similar to observing the name Trey on another person. I thought it was probably to other way round, with Liz being one of the Trinity's offspring amd named after Rose's mother. Makes much more sense why Liz was so vague about her daughter, to Kai, though. Interesting to hear how Ariana's attitude towards her changed over time, though, as maybe she has been influenced for a long time. I'm also now completely unsure of everyone's age 🤣. I thought Ariana was much older than Liz, more towards Miriam's age and that Liz was only a few hundred years old. Intrigued by how this plot will unfold in the other version of the story but will wait and see how you adjust it over there.

As Raul mentioned, I could understand Eve doing this, if it is her, based on original instructions or even expected instructions based on previous history, plus Eve's whole character / lack of appearance is very confusing, but I'm expecting the last lines to indicate it isn't her. Wonder, if it is a shape-shifter, if it's also related to the original Kitsune issues.

Great chapter, some thoughts from me: 1) The phone call with Absalom was interesting. Considering he's a fairly ancient being, one that has created an empire for himself, it does seem rather foolish for him to openly threaten/antagonize someone as powerful as Kai. I wonder if he would go to these extreme lengths for all of his sons, or if Kai is special in that regard; maybe there is some reason, unique to Kai and his birth/life, which is causing Absalom to act this irrationally. 2) Arianas justification for her actions, to me, makes total sense. If this was a case of 'he might kill us to destroy the evidence, so i'll threaten those he loves' , then i would totally accept Kai not being able to forgive her. However, the thing she fears most has actually happened multiple times to her own family, with Kai not only carrying out the deed, but i can imagine he simply saw the deaths as a necessary action, carried out ruthlessly and without compassion/empathy. The fact shes willing to sacrifice the love of her two wives, in order to keep them safe, shows someone who i believe can totally be redeemed/make up for her actions thus far. Although, she may be in the dog(wolf)house for a while, especially with Rose. 3) So Eve finally makes her appearance, or does she? It could be her, however the addition of "Or at least, it was someone…who looked exactly like her" seems to imply otherwise. My crackpot theory is that this person is perhaps a 'shapeshifter' (or something similar), one that is manipulating Ariana into incurring Kais wrath, effectively causing her death. This could then result in a collapse/vacuum of power within the supernatural world, one that the person wishes to use to increase their own power/standing. Of course said person would have to have some kind of knowledge about Kai and Arianas past, as well as Kais current situation and new body, but it could be a cool way to introduce a new enemy. 4) Some final little thoughts. Serenity calling Absalom out/insulting him, then hanging up, was great. Overall, i loved how protective everyone acted towards Kai during this chapter. The Natalie/Elizabeth interaction was awesome. It always seems like Natalie knows exactly what to do/say in these crazy situations. I also liked the look back on Kais history with Elizabeth and his feelings towards her and those memories. Finally, I believe that i commented on this on the previous chapter but, as far as Claires premonitions, i personally would like to see them be a bit more rare/unpredictable, rather than something she can 'activate'; this way, i feel as though they will carry even more meaning/significance when they do occur, especially if she only has them when they regard truly dire/life threatening situations.

Uh, I might have to clarify the ending. The Werewolf Queen does not look like Eve. Rather, he was expecting to see Ariana in the room, and when the person comes more into view, he realizes it is someone who looks like Rachel. Maybe I should just have them both be visible or something. Ariana and Eve are not the same person.

Author Kaizer Wolf

Natalie taunting Elizabeth was pretty funny. I am a bit confused about the Werewolf Queen being Eve or an Eve lookalike. Does this mean that Kai and Rachel are biologically siblings? How does Roland fit into this if he is Eve's father?

slugbiscuit

My thoughts would be that she's trying to get Kai to destroy them all for betraying him, kinda like a zealot wanting their god to smite perceived evil whilst trying to keep to their role.

So many questions! The absolum thing was expected, the twist at the end however, was not. The origins didn't have too much weight to it but it did explain the reaction. I would very much like to know the why, and events that happened leading up to the result at the end of the chapter
