And Luna's dad is Otto Hightower

Ser_Nox

she became the minister after Shacklebolt according to the Cursed Child which according to JKR is canon

CountFurfur

Yes! This really annoyed me as well. Him just throwing it away, when we know from the books he could have mended his own wand first, and then thrown the elder wand away. Such a small detail that would have meant a lot to keep in the movie, and they just ... didn't.

Betwixt Tales

She just works for the ministry. Shacklebolt is Minister. https://www.harrypotter.com/writing-by-jk-rowling/ministers-for-magic

Betwixt Tales

You can't see it on this version of the movie, but there's a clip that shows Draco tossing Harry a wand as he jumps out of Hagrid's arms. That gave me a bit of the character develpment that it seems like you were wanting to see as well. There's quite a few deleted scenes that show great characfer arcs, even with the Dursley's. Even if you don't react to them, you all should definitely check those out.

MsFrizzle512

My reaction to seeing Snape's memories were the exact same as Mrs. October's. Snape will forever be my favorite person in the series!

MsFrizzle512

You guys have to watch the anniversary special next!!!!

Jess

PLS WATCH THE ANNIVERSARY

I tend to be a quiet one and not comment much, but I would like to see you do Fantastic Beasts, there's only three and you could get through them quite quick. I've seen others mention this as well.

Edward Martin

I would love for you guys to watch the 20th anniversary special

Iriana F

I'm glad you enjoyed the series this much. On another note, I just gotta say that you two look like genuinely nice and sincere people. Rare qualities to come by these days. Wish you guys all the best.

Mustafa Efe

As a Slytherin I hate the constant bashing in the films and books hahaha Tho love your reaction 🫶

Jule

Great reaction!! I love this conclusion, but there are several critical details from the book that were for some reason excluded from this movie. For instance, in the book, Harry's survival when Voldemort attempted to kill him in the forest has nothing at all to do with the Resurrection Stone; the Resurrection Stone does not bring people back from the dead (there is no magic that can do this), it only brings back a brief image of them that can speak to you, but they do not belong in the mortal world. Instead, Dumbledore left him the stone in the Golden Snitch for one specific reason: to be used once Harry knew he needed to die, so that he could summon his loved ones to give him the strength to face death and sacrifice himself willingly. Harry actually survived due to his mother's sacrifice. Dumbledore told Harry early in the story that when Lily gave her life up for Harry, her love manifested as a kind of magic more powerful than any other: that is what saved him the FIRST time. Later on, Voldemort used Harry's blood to remake his body when he retuned in Goblet of Fire. By doing this, Voldemort absorbed part of Lily's sacrifice, meaning that for as long as Voldemort was living, Harry was also tethered to life. Dumbledore knew or suspected this, so he wasn't really betraying Harry; it was more so that he just knew what needed to be done. So in the end, the killing curse destroyed the Horcrux, but Harry was allowed to return to life. The Elder wand also refused to kill its true master, which saved Harry in the final showdown with Voldemort. Additionally, Harry's own sacrifice had the same effect that Lily's did. After he willingly chose to give up his life to save everyone at Hogwarts, no one else at Hogwarts died (none of the good guys anyway lol). Sadly, this movie does not explain any of this; they could have just added 2-3 mins onto the 'purgatory' scene with Dumbledore and had him flat out explain it all lol. Lupin and Tonks die off-screen (or 'off-page' lol) in the book as well. As does Mad-Eye Moody, as this displays the suddenness of war; people doesn't always get the chance to save their friends. However, Harry (and therefore the reader) is present when Fred dies, as are Ron and Hermione :( Remus and Tonks' deaths also symbolize and re-establish the Orphans of War trope; Harry was orphaned in the first Wizarding War, and Remus and Tonks son in the Second. I love the 'You remind me of him' line from the Gray Lady. Harry struggles with his similarities to Tom Riddle throughout all of the later books, but its true. Harry and Voldemort (and Snape) are all lost and lonely orphans who found their true home at Hogwarts. They all possessed the magical skill necessary to become powerful dark wizards (Harry even uses Curcio a few times throughout the books/movies in moments of rage), but ultimately Harry chooses not to embrace his darkness. They also reflect the story of the Three Brothers/Deathly Hallows; the oldest brother (represented by Voldemort) died for power (Elder Wand); the middle brother (represented by Snape) died for love (Lily, Resurrection Stone); and the youngest brother (Harry) evaded death before ultimately greeting Death willingly, like an old friend (Invisibility Cloak). Glad you enjoyed! Rant over lol

Neville L

Please play Hogwarts Legacy! You will love it! I also suggest the audiobooks. I listen to them while sitting in traffic. :)

Melanie Loukes

Read the books. You'll think differently about many characters. The worst thing that happened to any of the characters was how the movies completely ignored the story about Harry's Aunt and cousin.

The snape reveal always is super emotional, glad you guys reacted the way you did

Montana Bruce

Now react to the hunger games pleaseeeeee

Julia Miala

Hermione became Minister for Magic btw :)

CountFurfur

Oh OK, I understand. Yeah it was his voice but then I've watched GOT 27 times o I probably know his blood group lol

Melanie Vine

Love is definitely the biggest theme in Harry Potter like even what u were saying abt Voldermort and having no love but fear its even deeper than that. he literally was conceived w/o love not even lust. his mom spiked Tom Riddle sr with a love potion and did it for a while and when she stopped he was terrified of her and left. if u remember in half blood prince prof slughorn said love potions dont create real love. so he was screwed from the beginning lol.

Mari

Need to watch the 20th anniversary special. So good

Ruben Becerra

With movie endings, marvel will never get brought up because its still going on, but the infinity saga did have the greatest ending in cinema history for me with endgame. Harry potter is a veryyy close second

Klaus

It took me like 50 viewings to come to this opinion: Draco joining his parents, but only after his mother told him to do so, is good enough of a redemption for me. Tony u said it yourself how the mother has been hostage this whole time. Shes only been a death eater because of lucius, shes actually alright. And its taken draco 8 movies to finally stop listening to his father and only 'join' voldemort once his mother told him to. It was like the mother was finally taking control

Klaus

great reaction as always. Jurassic park and world series are great ones to react to next.

Lisa - Marie

Slytherin's common room is in the dungeons- that is why she sent them there

CountFurfur

Hi i m French and I would like to say you should watch the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary movie just to complete the journey

Syrielle Smagghe

You could do group family reads or listen to the audiobooks with your kids while baking cookies or whatever. I have a friend who started reading the first few books out loud with her kids before bedtime. The way the books are written progress with the child who is reading. So the first book is when harry is 11 and the plot is relatively simple and straightforward, but as Harry and his friends get older, the way the books are written, the dialogue and the plots become more complex and mature, so by the time you get to Order Of The Phoenix, it’s like you’re reading a proper novel not a kids book. The first 3 HP books feel more like kids books, but as soon as Cedric dies, there’s clearly skin the game and writing reflects what the characters are old enough to perceive. JK Rowling must be so freaking smart!

Jean Choi

Neville forever!! ❤️ Snape is an iconic role, and most actors are lucky to ever have one, but Alan Rickman who plays Snape also has a second iconic role, going back to 1988 in the movie Die Hard. That’s all I will say in case you decide you should watch it (you should 😉).

I can’t believe I never realized

I watched this the other day before yall posted, I couldn't wait. So I bawled my eyes out watching alone and then again watching with yall. I immediately went and watched the 20th anniversary thing. Here's my link for what I want yall to watch, it's been stuck in my head for years and now it can be in yours too! https://youtu.be/Tx1XIm6q4r4?si=bydsN8lOXtrZr32a

ShittyShittyGameGang

Loved this. I grew up reading the books and watching the films and it is precious to me because it’s one of the few things that my dad was also into. We have, dare I say, an estranged relationship but harry potter was one of the few things we were both geeks about. So an important detail as to why Snape died the way he did: Voldemort believed the Elder Wand’s allegiance at the time was with Snape. He feared that had he attempted to use the killing curse against Snape the wand would have rebounded the curse and it would have killed him instead. Which is ironic because that’s exactly what happened when he attempted to use it against Harry while not knowing the wand’s allegiance was with Harry. Also in the book, the dursleys (well aunt petunia) did apologize to Harry. They cut it out the movie for some reason though. Lastly, I don’t think Draco intended to follow his father. When Lucius called for Draco to come over he didn’t budge. It wasn’t until his mother called for him that he went over and he went directly to his mother. He never viewed his mother as an evil woman and he loved her deeply so I believe he simply felt he needed to stay by her side no matter what.

MadeByMali

I would highly suggest getting the Audio Books. I prefer Jim Dale version as he was the one I grew up listening to, but Stephen Fry is also VERY good. There is SOOOooOOooooOOO much more details in the books that will help you understand things more. and you'll be introduced to so many characters left out like Peeves the poltergeist who is always snitching on harry Ron and Hermione and causes mischief . he was an important character. you'll really get to know more about Arianna and Dumbledore and his brother, you'll get more insight into snape, lily, and aunt petunias past. you really get a dive into the wizarding world. and now that you know what the characters look like, it'll be more fun when you're listening to it,

Alexander Summers

If you guys are interested there are a few scenes that were taken out of the movie with Malfoy in it which might help you round his character arc out :) Also one with the Dursleys was cut out from Deathly Hallows part 1. <3

Dan Tydeman

Now you have to watch Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts!

Natalia

The 20th Anniversary reunion is a must watch. It'll give you the behind the scenes on it and it's done very well.

Foof

I always hated the end when harry throws the elder wand. I was so disappointed . In the Book at the end he is talking to Dumbledores portrait in the headmasters office . He and Dumbledore start talking and about the elder wand. Before Harry leaves Dumbledore , he takes the elder wand and mends his own wand that was broken from Nagini . He then sets the elder wand on the desk and takes his own wand and leaves. It was such a beautiful part in the book and happens to be my fav part in the series. I really wished they would’ve kept that in the scene instead of him breaking the elder wand in half and throwing it away.

Alexander Summers

Also kind of funny at the end that you mentioned in lord of the rings that the hobbits in the shire thought, well y'all were off just smoking that weed when Marry and Pippen find what they are smoking after defeating Sauruman, they name it longbottom leaf... like Neville

Michael Shelton

Before you go too far, you need to look up the hidden Snape moments, starting with the very first words that snape speaks to Harry after entering the classroom in the sorcerer's stone. The 2 questions that he asks him, tell him exactly what he finds out in the last movie. But no one including us understands...you should look up the significance of what Snape asks Harry. It's quite beautiful how much forethought was put into Snapes character.

Michael Shelton

Something I read online years ago that I thought was super interesting to consider about the Dursleys was that they were living with a horcrux for years, so that maybe could explain their nasty attitudes during that time. Anyway, that’s what is cool about these books and movies is there are always so many things that can be explained or interpreted differently after all this time since their release.

Nicholas Crowe

funny how you say you were invited to see this with a friend but didn't go because you hadn't seen the rest mrs october- I was not so lucky.. my whole family wanted to see it, and I was made to come along even though I hadn't seen any of the movies... LMAO. I'd only ever seen the first two movies since then and now I've watched the rest with you guys for the first time, so thanks for the ride!!

alayah

Omggg can’t wait to watch after a tipsy brunch 🥳

KP

i cried again and again this is my million times of tears hhhaha. thank you mr and mrs october!!! hope you find time for the 20th anniversary special youll find answer how and why they were casted. also fantastic beasts some how 40 years earlier before harry potter

Harvey

definately watch the 20th anniversary. and the deleted scenes. They contain a few of the things you wanted.

Marinda

best intro EVER 😂

Ulie Pavone

There is a deleted scene for Part 1, where Dudley and Harry talk when the Dursleys are moving out.

Ron Hubbard Jr

Every time I see the scene where Harry is talking to his family before going to die it just hits so hard in my chest lol when his mom says they were always with him, my god how much heavier does it get

Christian

I love these movies. I will say that the books add SO much context that you just don't get in the movies because of time restraints. The Dursleys do show up at the beginning of Deathly Hallows, and they shot a scene that didn't end up making it into the final cut. Throughout the series, there are several characters and subplots that are reduced or not included at all for the same reason. Neville, Hagrid, Dumbledore (and Dumbledore's Army come to think of it), and Tom/Voldy in particular have a lot of backstory and depth that just doesn't makes its way into the movies. Again, it's understandable. They have to make cuts. But if you feel yourself yearning to revisit the world, the books are a great way to go. I think the best movie is probably Prisoner of Azkaban, but my favorite book is either Goblet of Fire or Deathly Hallows...it's been awhile since I've read them so it's difficult to definitively pick one. Hope you and your family have a nice visit with family and a good holiday!

Desiree Mclaughlin

Just a little fun fact since you guys love Luna. Harry and Ginnys daughters name is Lily Luna Potter after Luna and Harry's mom.

DaniMarie

There are deleted scenes from part 1 and of redemptions/turn around typish with Harry’s aunt and dudley

Gio Bellisario

I agree on holding off on FB after finishing HP. You wanna savor the first 7 for a while and I think they’re so much better than the FB movies.

Jean Choi

This was an amazing journey! Thanks for all the great reactions to my favorite series of all time, so glad you guys enjoyed it too!!

Brieanne

It’s not canon and I’m glad they cut it. It’s ridiculous fan service and makes no sense. There is no need for Draco to throw Harry a wand. First off Draco has his mom’s wand and Harry has Draco’s. Harry would have no use for Ms.Mafoy’s wand and we have went this whole series learning that the wand chooses the wizard. Who says her wand would even work properly for Harry. Secondly we have seen Draco be indecisive on which side he stands these last two movies. Why is heavens sake would he run out in the middle of Voldemort and all those death eaters to throw Harry a wand surely cementing him and his parents demise if Voldemort somehow wins? I’m all for giving characters more depth and maybe even a redemption arc but not one this idiotic. Also book readers know that Draco does get a sort of redemption arc.

Kamilya Freshwater

Loved it, now we need the 20th year anniversary and fantastic beasts, keep going guys

exuray r6

I found it interesting to learn that Rowling told Alan Rickman about Snape's motivation even before the last book came out so he could incorporate it into his performances. The best kept secret of HP. The boy at the end with the Potter kids was Teddy, Tonks and Remus's son. T'was a dream-come-true reaction for my favorite HP film. Now I have a suggestion: watch the 20th Anniversary shortly after this. It'll mean a lot. But hold off on "Fantastic Beasts" for a while. I think the nostalgia value will increase for you that way. Have a safe and healthy holiday time. See y'all at your return.

Jim Schmitz

Hope you can watch "Fantastic Beasts" series, the main character was a Hufflepuff!

Riri

The hidden detail When Harry thinks the snake is the last horcrux the camera pans to hermiones face because she knew/had a feel that Harry was actually the last one and the fact that Harry told her “I think you knew too” after he finds out he’s also a horcrux makes their friendship so beautiful!

Gio Bellisario

There is a cut scene where draco throws Harry a wand all the way at the end of the movie in the court yard. So Harry can continue fighting. I am so bumbed they cut that but you can watch it on YouTube.

Slow Shadow

Eventually, J.K. Rowling revealed to us that the reason Voldemort is unable to feel love is because he was conceived under the influence of a love potion.

Elena de Haan

What do you mean, What?

Melanie Vine

Hi guys brilliant reaction! I've asked a few times but didn't hear anything back from anyone. Are you going to watch the "Harry Potter 20th Anniversary , Return to Hogwarts" It follows on from the end of this movie. It's a must see feature!

Melanie Vine

When dumbledore said "don't tell me now that you've grown to care for the boy" he didn't meant it in a way that he himself didn't but he's surprised Snape does after all this time.

Elena de Haan

I will ALWAYS continue to rewatch these movies 🙏 my favourites are also game of thrones, lord of the rings, stranger things and harry potters 😄 + arcane and attack on titan. Easily the same tier if not even higher 🔥

Monkey D. Tomy

Can’t wait to watch this!!!!🥺🥺🥺🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

Sarah Wevers

I feel for people who need the subtitles. I was laughing. It really said you seek my mother’s diet ( not diadem) lol? Also avada cadavra cannot be used with the elder wand by someone against the true owner of the wand so that’s why other deaths are sometimes used. Side note since it’s not in the movie. Voldemort assumed the prophecy referred to Harry, but it’s possible it could have also been Neville technically. If Voldemort had gone to the longbottom’s that night the main character could have been different!

Kelsey

Can’t wait to watch tomorrow when I’m home from work

Montana Bruce

What!

Hailey ✨

Loved the reaction so far. I hope we get to see you guys react to the 20th anniversary return to hogwarts sometime too

Ryan W

Guys just incase you didn't realise. Dumbledores brother is the same actor that played Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones 🫡
