Harry Potter 6 & The Half Blood Prince (2009)

This one was insane ya'll! & extremely sad! We are happy to be here for more Harry Potter <3

Harry Potter 6 & The Half Blood Prince (2009)

Comments

If you want more Hufflepuff, you guys should watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as the main character is a Hufflepuff. =D - The first one is really good.

Betwixt Tales

as far as favorites go, order of the pheonix is without a doubt my favorite movie. i think that is true for a lot of men with harry losing his paternal figure and the coming of age feeling it has lending to that. This one, half blood prince, is without a doubt my favorite book. the backstory on Voldemort and the flashbacks and dumbledore's research into voldemorts life while searching for horcruxes is the most interesting stuff in the series to me and I think its a shame it wasn't fleshed out even more than it was in the movie. there's other details too that are really relevant to the end of deathly hallows and the connections with harry voldemort and their wands that really feels crucial revealed in this book. On the other end of the spectrum, goblet of fire is widely regarded as the worst film. Its the longest book and A LOT was left out, wont spoil in case you want to read em, but simply the amount of characters and really entire storylines left out is insane. That's my humble opinion since I've enjoyed yours. Happy Holidays everyone

Mitch Wells

I would LOOOOOOVE to see Mr O play DBH! Love that game. It's so good, and different every time!

Hope S

He did show some slytherin traits, like sneakily extracting plants for his own financial gain, even though its almost definitely not allowed, and his segregation of allowing only brilliant wizards into his dinner parties, whilst being dismissive of others. But yeah hes an example of a slitherin worth keeping around

Klaus

unsure if anyone mentioned but ginny year younger, she started Hogwarts in chamber of secrets, year after harry. in books wasn't as much of a surprise with Ginny. great reaction as always.

Lisa - Marie

For sure I love ur reactions. Get on the Hogwarts legacy train it's so much fun! Slytherin and Ravenclaw common rooms are so awesome!!!!

Natsu Dragoneel

Lmao real ones know!

Christian Tidball

Lol I was fixing to comment "remember people say Homelander is their favorite too" and then yall went ahead and said it! But there ya go.

ShittyShittyGameGang

Love your profile pic! Representin' Malibu!

ShittyShittyGameGang

Dark shadows too!

ShittyShittyGameGang

Mrs. O is correct that we would love to watch you play Detroit: Become Human

Miguel Lugo

His parents picked the two best names I think haha

Mr. October

None! She is pregnant

Mr. October

Spoiler free! I always loved this "if Harry Potter was a Romcom" Trailer! https://youtu.be/c_ubmjE21SY?si=DKScCxKELiMQtd9C

Josh Viz

think you guys may have been mixing up edward scissorhands and sweeney todd?? LOL. both have johnny depp wielding blades, but sweeney todd is a musical, while edward scissorhands isn't. sweeney todd is also the one with helena bonham carter (bellatrix) in it, not edward scissorhands (also has alan rickman aka snape!).

alayah

There is an receipe for butterbeer alcoholic or nonalcoholic on Pinterest

Christina Connor

Hey guys just a heads up.. Lily Potter and Hermione aren't muggles, they were born from muggle parents but are witches. Muggles are ordinary people with no magic.

Irving 🗡

An apple nose print? How many edibles is Mrs. October on?!!?

Kale

alan rickman is also in sweeney todd

Mitch Wells

Edward Scissorhands is not a musical. It has young Johnny Depp and young Winona Ryder (Joyce from stranger things). You guys should definitely watch that, it’s early Tim Burton. The musical you’re thinking of Sweeney Todd, which is a musical that has Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Belatrix. Both are directed by Tim Burton, which is why they both have the same look. Helena Bonham Carter was also in Fight Club. She has the same look as Winona Ryder, but that’s the Burton aesthetic. He likes his female leads with big dark eyes. (Think Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, Helena Bonham Carter who is also his baby mama)

Jean Choi

I worked at a preschool for a while. There was a Rowdy and he was! But we also had Aiden and Jayden and Zayden and Laiden. All great kids just so confusing.

LyssaBarr

I think maybe this one is my favorite.

Jean Choi

They"ll certainly satisfy Mrs. O's need for new creatures.

Jim Schmitz

Besides Sweeney Todd, Helena and Johnny have a history of appearing together. The live-action remake "Alice in Wonderland" and sequel "Through the Looking Glass" and the forgettable "The Lone Ranger" from Disney come to mind.

Jim Schmitz

I hope they watch at least the first one

Jonny

awww Gio i hope your day gets better!

Mr. October

Have you both given any thought to watching the "Fantastic Beasts" movies (Harry Potter prequel series)?

Ron Hubbard Jr

I'm with you Mr. O, I can't do musicals.

Ron Hubbard Jr

A lot of people didn’t like heathy hallows part 1 they said it was too slow but It has one of my favorite scenes can wait!

Gio Bellisario

And yes if you wanna see the audition tapes you can watch the reunion special on Max 🤍

Gio Bellisario

Today was probably the worst work day and it’s not even Christmas yet I’m bout have dinner relax and finally watch this reaction 🫶🏻

Gio Bellisario

Love your reactions. This is probably my least favorite movie, but still fun to watch with you guys. Butterbeer is supposed to be slightly alcoholic in the books, but I don't know if it is in the movie. Hermione does act kind of tipsy after that scene and they do have the mead later on that poisons Ron. At the park it doesn't have alcohol, which makes sense because kids are drinking it.

yrag

i LOVE mrs. October's sense of humour, she's fabulous and so funny :P

Ulie Pavone

This one is my Second fav!!!

Gio Bellisario

Hey guys I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it but when you've finished all 8 movies, there's a 20 year anniversary reunion special. Its a absolute must see. All of the cast getting back together, talking about their experiences. Its phenomenal. You will need tissues though!!!

Melanie Vine

Saying your child's name is Nolan and that you think that name inspires kindness is slightly funny to me!! First off I love the name I think its a strong name! its only funny to me because one of my favorite characters in the super hero world is named Nolan and he's VERY not kind 😂 I won't say who he is tho cause I want yall to watch that TV series one day and thats a spoiler!!

Josh Viz

Love y'all lol I'm so here for these reactions, can't wait for the next — my absolute favorite movie in the franchise, as a book reader/fan it captures the best tone since Order of the Phoenix, keep shining! 💛

Jeremy Shay

Post the last 2 back to back please if you can

Christian Tidball

Mr.October is funny😂😂, he said I wouldn't play games like Harry and Ron when it comes to the women. Mrs.October then followed up with you see why we have 3 kids🤣

Nick

Some Game of Thrones crossovers I don't think you noted in this movie: Professor Slughorn was played by Jim Broadbent who played Archmaester Ebrose, the one who forbid Sam to try and cure Jorah at the Citadel. And then Cormac McLaggen (the one who tried to get handsy with Hermione) was played by Freddie Stroma who played the original Dickon Tarly when Sam and Gilly stopped off at his house. Keep your eyes peeled, there will be a few more GOT actors in the final two movies! Awesome reaction to this one, the part where all the teachers and students raise their wands to get rid of the Dark Mark in the sky after Dumbledore's death never fails to make me cry even though I've seen it a million times!

Brieanne

Prof Slughorn is a slytherin, pef example that not all slytherins are evil or bad :)

Elena de Haan

thank you for everything you guys do!

Alexander Summers

OMG, I love this movie! This one is a very close second to Prisoner of Azkaban for me, practically tied. The back story for Tom Riddle and introduction of horcruxes make this a wonderfully dark movie.

Ron Hubbard Jr

Oh Mrs O, i just knew this movie, especially the last part would hit your soft and gentle heart. I’ve seen this movie a 100 times but i cried along with you🥹🫶. Mr. O, i always notice you have like this particular anticipating smile when a specific set of characters appear on screen together, like you know something good is about to happen like scenes between Ron and Hermione or between Dumbledore and Harry, it’s really funny to see hahaha. Also the way you both jumped when the thing in the water grabbed Harry😂 loved the reaction!

Julia Miala

Also forgot to add it was funny in the weasley’s shop when you hear the voice say “ I will have order” that is something making fun of Dolores umbridge not their mom. I think it’s so funny and such a great further burn to her.

Kelsey

And also as someone said here I would definitely recommend watching the last two movies back to Back because they’re from the same book. It’s like one half of the final movie and then the other, they doesn’t feel like two movies in a weird way, hope yall know what I mean <3

exuray r6

I can’t WAIT for those last 2 movies OMG😭 I’m from Germany and I only watched it with the German voice actors so it’s like watching these movies for the first time again with you. I know y’all got some stuff happening in real life but I’m begging I need these reactions ASPA. But take your time to get all your stuff done guys, love yall an your reactions 🫶

exuray r6

A lot of the death eaters are in a sense hypocrites. Including Voldemort himself. You may not remember but in the second film Voldemort says that he abandoned his real name (Tom Riddle) because it was the name of his father, who was a muggle. Voldemort himself is not a pure blood wizard, he’s half-blood. In fact the entire reason he hates muggles is because he hates his father who was a muggle. I actually think there are very few death eaters who are fully pure blood, off the top Bellatrix and Lucius are the only ones that come to mind for me but I could be wrong on that part.

MadeByMali

omg yes sweeney todd

Mr. October

Unrelated to the movie, but since you were talking about names I have to tell you that my husband's name is Ryan and his youngest brother is named Nolan, so every time you mention your kids' names it makes me chuckle. Congratulations on the new little one!

Desiree Mclaughlin

1). Hermione and Lily potter are not muggles. They are muggle born meaning they can do magic, but they have non magic parents. Muggles cannot do magic at all so big difference. 2). Butterbeer is non alcoholic butterscotch soda. They sell it in three different versions in universal Orlando. Its great! Mrs O can drink it! 3). You are thinking of the movie Sweeney Todd that is a musical with Helena (who plays bellatrix) and Johnny Depp. Edward scissor hands is not a musical.

Kelsey

Lmfao. After Hermoine sent the birds after Ron, Mrs O said that’s me too, APUGNO! Y’all’s love for each other and comments like Apugno, are why I subscribe.

Teenus

Time to start a gaming channel. I would be so down to watch ya'll play Hogwarts Legacy!

Veronica Lamonica

I really like this one! I think I was always more interested in the over-arching story than the slice of life Hogwarts stuff and this has the perfect balance for me. This is probably an unpopular opinion but it makes Order of the Phoenix feel weird to me in terms of overall pacing because the tone we get here is what I would’ve expected there. I get wanting to do the fake news/ministry censorship stuff but I don’t think that’s an engaging enough story on its own (as evidenced by the amount of montages we got in the last one). I think it would’ve made more sense if they had that theme underlying the events in Goblet of Fire and the triwizard tournament was set up by the ministry to be a distraction. I think Goblet of Fire and OOTP kind of served the same purpose of maturing the characters, expanding the political/diplomatic world, and an “oh no Voldemort’s back!” ending that I found the series getting a bit stale and drawn out by that point. We always knew this war was coming so it’s just odd that it didn’t actually start until the end of the series and we didn’t get a lot of the backstory stuff until then either. It makes me think JK was stalling a bit in 4 and 5 and didn’t know where she wanted to go with the story yet. I love the world building of this series but I do think the actual story suffers in some places for it.

jenna marie

Dumbledore's death is without a doubt one of the most impactful moments for me. I still remember when the book came out, someone spoiled it for me, so i couldn’t resist nd i skipped ahead to that part, read it, and cried for days. I had to take a break before I could bring myself to read the rest of the book. Something that really bothers me (and I think most people who’ve read the books would agree) is how Harry and Ginny’s relationship is portrayed in the films. Their romance is so beautiful in the books, but in the movies, it feels so awkward. There are so many little details: how Harry realizes he likes her, Ginny’s popularity and beauty, Harry’s jealousy, and the inner conflict of liking his best friend’s sister. All of that gets lost. On the other hand, I feel so sorry for Malfoy. It’s clear that he’s under pressure, tense, isolated, and overwhelmed. He’s been a spoiled boy from the start, sure, but I don’t see him as someone who could truly kill another person. You can tell he’s scared and full of fear. This part of the story really captures that awkward phase of adolescence when teenagers are navigating romance and don’t quite know how to handle it. There are so many details missing from this movie, I really recommend watching some explainer videos after finishing the saga. It’s also great to hear that Mrs. O is doing better. Keep us updated on how things are going. Sending you all a big hug!

Loren

That game was so damn fun. One of the better experiences in gaming recently just getting to run around hogwarts.

Christian

You guys HAVEEE to watch the 20th anniversary after you’re done the movies!! It’s amazing

Sarah Wevers

I agree it’s definitely worth the watch!

Viking1723

Hope you guys picked up that Bellatrix is Draco's aunt. That's why she kissed him on the cheek affectionately. It wasn't a weird thing. Cuz I saw Mrs O face. She is after all his mother's sister. Her name btw is Narcissa.

Jonny

I did mention in the previous movie's comments that Neville's parents aren't dead. Check back. Butter beer is on tap at Universal's Wizarding World. You're now close to my favorite movie of the series, and some of your wishes will come true.

Jim Schmitz

Draco is a really complex character. His character isn't black and white. His character is grey. He is a classic school bully, but with a father like that who teaches him these horrible things, that is what comes out of it. However, he is not an evil person and is not cut out to kill or take anyone's life. Also, you guys should definitely check out the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter. You would definitely love it, and I would love it if you guys react to it.

Iriana F

they dont say it in the movie but at the end when hermione is talking to harry in the books she had finally found out info about the half blood prince. snape is the half blood prince because his mom was a pureblood witch whose last name was Prince and she was brilliant but settled for a muggle life with a man named tobias snape. (for some reason they made an article about this) but its more of a moniker snape gave himself taking on his mothers name “Prince” as a kid who was half blood but probably had the same pureblood purism (just like voldemort who is also halfblood) as some of the other sytherins had especially during that time when voldemort was coming to power damn near all the death eaters that we know went to school with snape and were in slytherin (except wormtail who was gryffindor and i think even professor quirell from the 1st movie was a ravenclaw)

Mari

So a few (minor) details the movie left out from the book, or vice-versa (obviously, no spoilers for the last 2 movies, just book/film adaptions for this particular movie). 1. They mention love potions in this movie, and while it does work for the Ron storyline adapted from the book, it's also revealed in the books during the flashbacks with the pensieve, the first memory shown in the books is a ministry visitor to the house where we first see Tom Riddle's mother. Afterwards it's explained, Tom's mother, while not being particularly gifted magically, managed to brew a love potion which she successfully tricked a handsome man from the village she lived near (Tom's eventual father, different man to the previous memory), to parch his thirst with a drink spiked with LP, she eventually thought it had been long enough and they'd had a child together (Tom) that he would stay, but when she stopped spiking him, he left her. There is more on this, but I'll leave it at that for now. 2. Ginny is invited to that first slug club meeting, as Prof Slughorn saw her hex someone quite impressively and invited her, rather than punish her. 3. Cho Chang throughout the rest of the books is basically reduced to a friendly, nod when you see her, character. They did leave out in the last movie that it was her bestie, (who was reluctant to sign up to DA in the first place), who ratted them out through veritiseum (truth potion that Umbridge was using). But, because it was Cho's bestie, that was enough to disintegrate Cho and Harry's relationship. But yes, also Cho's mother I believe was in the ministry and Cho was threatened with that. 4. I feel they don't delve deep enough into Draco, as they do in the books, for this movie anyway. Though, the books I suppose are more written in Harry's POV, so the movies kind of add more in, through screentime, but Harry's obsession with Malfoy was more intense in the book. It's handled well, but more book focus would have maybe showed more. 5. The fight scene around the Weasley's at Christmas was just an action scene addition to the movie? 6. Harry only actually used a few hours worth of Felix Felicis, he made the DA share the rest as they helped TOOTP gang to defend against the Death Eaters. Also not mentioned in this movie, relevant in future movies but they just forgot to add? Is that Bill Weasley (Ron's older bro) was attacked by Fenrir Greyback (a werewolf) and bitten during then battle (he's the long haired, dirty looking death eater that attacked Ginny earlier), but Fenrir was in human form, and so Bill only partially contracted lycanthropy, and preferred his steaks on the rare side. 7. Mrs Oct. is actually bang on the money with Tom's nose actually. It's explained in the books that the more Tom split his soul (the book contained memories of Tom during different acquisitions of horcruxes), and mentioned he looked less and less human, the more horcruxes he made. 8. Last but not least, and probably the most important context left out due to the book/movie's title. Yes, Snape is the half blood prince, he called himself that as he was a half-blood (witch mother, muggle father. Same as Tom Riddle). And, his mother's Maiden name was Prince, Severus despised his muggle father (like Tom, it's a bit of a running theme) and so at Hogwarts, Snape referred to himself using his Mother's maiden name, rather than his father's surname within that potions book that used to belong to him. It's no deeper than that, but it is left out in this movie. (Also, it's never actually mentioned in the movies, it is in the books, and it doesn't affect the rest of the movies. Tom Riddle is half blood. His father Tom Riddle Sr. was the muggle Tom's mother hit with the LP).

Aaron Patton

After y'all started this series... I am doing another play-through of the Harry Potter game with a different house.

Preferred User

Butter beer is essentially butterscotch root beer/cream soda

Michael Shelton

Oh I 100% agree, if you really want to experience and get the most out of the movie franchise that's the best way. I remember when part 2 first came out in cinema over a decade ago and even then, the midnight premiere started way earlier as they did part 1 first, then had a half hour intermission and then part 2 at midnight.

Aaron Patton

Atta, Brony, waste no time!

Jim Schmitz

Stop it. I was hoping all day your HBP reaction would drop in time for me to watch it along with you guys for dinner (Australia, so it's just after 6pm here). Timed this one bloody well, can't wait!

Aaron Patton

After watching this series, there is a reunion movie sort of documentary with behind the scenes and whatnot that's really good

Michael Shelton

harry's mom is not a muggle; she was a witch who went to hogwarts. voldemort calls her a filthy muggle at some point because, like hermione, she had non-magical parents (he's basically calling her non-magic because she's not "pure" like he is / wants everyone to be).

xandre

You guys are a three person reaction channel right now 🤔

Jesse Lee

Deathly hallows next, might be too much of a commitment for y’all but I feel like you’ve got to watch part 1 and 2 back to back on first watch. Obviously doesn’t have to be uploaded straight after eachother tho

Harvey

Aghhh I wasn’t ready! I’m dropping everything to watch this!
