Werewolf By Night (2022) Reaction!

Comments

The Blood Stone doesn't connect to anything else that we've seen in the MCU. Moon Knight is the only connection to Werewolf by Night which is where that character debuted in the 1970s.

Ron Hubbard Jr

In the comics, Ted is known as Man-Thing and has been around since the early 70s.

Ron Hubbard Jr

Elsa reminds me a lot of Jessica Jones (from the MCU Netflix series).

Ron Hubbard Jr

Moon Knight first appeared in the Werewolf by Night comic book series back in the 70s.

Ron Hubbard Jr

okay okay! understandable lol we don't blame you on that

Mr. October

Oh ive seen it, in full for the first time last year. But i was like 'meh' about it, so with this reaction i just skipped to y'alls review. If there will be a yt vid of this, i might watch it, but i dont feel like pumping an hour into this one.

Lifehouse

Ok, so, good little show / reaction. Gael Garcia Bernal (Jack) is a favorite of mine. Tony mentioned "Goosebumps" and it made me wonder if you've seen the 2015 movie. If not, could be a good one for October.

Jim Schmitz

Respectfully, Chase, I don’t know what you were expecting. I’ll just say that Ryan Coogler did the best he could out of a sad situation. I enjoyed Wakanda Forever for what it had to offer, but I’ll leave my thoughts for the reaction. At least Guardians Volume 3 is gradually getting closer.

ted/man-thing is actually incredibly strong in marvel comics. he is a nexus being. He is awesome, and one of my favorite characters. Theres a horror/darkside to the marvel comics. a whole untapped side of marvel that is starting to come out.

Phil Tilly

it's kinda cool ya'll! give it a little chance, it had some good to it! but it wasn't THAT bad!

Mr. October

Ouch. They're in for a rough couple of weeks then until Guardians 3. Those 2 films were just awful. Was really hoping Wakanda Forever would be great as a way to honor Chadwick, but it was a huge swing and a miss.

Chase Schleich

I didn't even do that lol. This is and Secret Invasion are the two Marvel projects I literally have zero interest in. I stopped watching any of the shows from this point on as well, but I'll watch them here when they get to them... other than Secret Invasion. Heard how absolutely terrible it was and put it out of my mind. I just wont' watch it. I heard Werewolf was ok, but as I said, zero interest.

Chase Schleich

Yes all of these things are so connected! It's not obvious right now to people who don't know the comics, but there are so many ways they can tie these different projects together in the future!

Emili

This is definitely one of my favorite new mcu projects. Such a breath of fresh air! And I love Elsa and Jack. Marvel has a corner of its universe that is all supernatural, and it crosses over a lot with the normal superhero stuff. It's pretty amazing. And you easily get people like Wanda and Dr Strange crossing into those things too. I wouldn't be surprised to see these characters pop up again. Ted has some multiverse connections that I won't get into here! Love the reaction as always

Emili

I just skipped to y'alls review at the end. Ive never really got into this movie. Its a really weird one-off. Maybe it will make sense in the future but currently its a 'whatever' haha. Im glad you guys enjoyed it. For me its at the very bottom of the list. But héy, we all like different things right.

Lifehouse

I love you two and sometimes you drive me crazy! LOL! I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to ST4/8 last night, but never expected you to drop another reaction, my bad. This is 'how you come back' from She Hulk Tony, or more accurately, not everything in the MCU has to be some mega spectacle. Remember, these are comic book movies/shows and there is room for a wide variety of storytelling. I've seen my fair share of BAD movies and shows, and honestly, nothing in the MCU is all that bad. Given they have put out over 30 movies and shows, I'd say 80-90% are really good, and that is a hell of a batting average. Just saying...

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you......the Man Thing (Ted). Man Thing was a scientist named Ted Sallis (hence, the name Ted) in the comics. He was working on a super soldier serum and was hunted by the Feds, or Hydra (I can't remember. You comic book geeks help me out, I can't remember exactly. It's been so long since I read it). Anyways, Ted injected himself with the serum, then was shot and fell into the swamp and the swamp water mixed with his enhanced blood and turned him into the Man Thing. Man Thing was created in the early 70's to capitalise on the Bigfoot craze that was sweeping the country at the time. There is only so much you can do with a big swamp monster story so a new writer (Steve Gerber) made Man Thing the Nexus to all Universes. Man Thing could manifest all kinds of beings from all points in time and in different realities and the stories really got out there................(this is where Howard the Duck came from. He was accidentally plucked from Duckworld, so Man Thing has ties to Howard the Duck.) Jack, on the other hand, has ties to the Darkhold (family curse) and was turned into a Werewolf. MoonKnight was introduced in Werewolf by Night (issue #32) as a mercenary to capture the werewolf, so there is a connection here. Where does this all fit in? We don't know yet but I think they are building thier little corner of the supernatural universe which will lead to the Midnight Sons. (Dr. Strange, Blade, Ghost rider, Morbius, and others including MoonKnight, Man Thing and Werewolf). Kind of a Monster Avengers, if you will. The only thing I have against this show is calling Man thing "Ted" and making him kinda Groot like. Other than that, I think it is unique and really shows Marvel spreading their wings to give us something different than the regular superhero fare. You probably didn't notice, but in Thor: Ragnorok, when there was a close up of the tower of all the past champions on Sakaar, you see Man Thing on that monument. Kinda cool for us comic book geeks.

DarrellWaller

Wait, they did? Did I somehow miss that? Welp, guess I'm watching that now.

Jason Rogue

They already reacted to the Holiday Special. So after Wakanda Forever, Quantumania is next followed by the long awaited Guardians Volume 3. Same goes for Emme Reacts.

Aldo Gonzales

Oh, after Black Panther, I believe it's the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special then Ant-Man.

Jason Rogue

I suppose you are just scratching the surface of Marvel. Marvel is about heroes, but there are also supernatural heroes and villians. Blade a half vampire hunter, Elsa Bloodstone a monster hunter. Ghost Rider, I won't spoil what he is. If you really pay attention the MCU has been expanding the universe. From Iron Man to Winter Soilder it was focused down to Earth. Came Guardians of the Galaxy we expanded to Cosmic side of Marvel. Doctor Strange expanded to the Mystic side of Marvel. And now we're expanding to the supernatural side of Marvel.

Jason Rogue

Figured it out! Gonna go watch now ahhh

Serenity La’sandra

That’s so weird I do not see it. I scrolled on ur page and just don’t see it.

Serenity La’sandra

yes its right before this!

Mr. October

Wait the stranger things finale?? Did I miss the upload for the one before?

Serenity La’sandra

What I loved the most about this special is that it pays homage to a lot of monochrome horror/suspense films that many have enjoyed in their youth. Horror isn’t really my genre, but my favorite “horror-themed” movie continues to be Young Frankenstein. This movie was directed by longtime composer Michael Giacchino. In case you don’t know who he is, he’s the man responsible for composing scores for a number of hit films. As for the MCU, he previously composed for Doctor Strange 2016, the MCU Spider-Man trilogy, and Thor: Love and Thunder. He even put together the opening anthem we’ve been hearing since Doctor Strange. And yes, he worked on the score for this movie as well. Growing up, Michael and his brother Anthony would make Regular 8 and Super 8 home movies together with their family and friends. He even went to film school at one point. So even though this is his big directorial debut for a movie, he already had experience of working behind the camera. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige approached Michael and asked if he’d like to direct a project. Michael responded saying that he liked fringe characters. He liked the ones that were off the beaten path because there are a lot of interesting things to do with them. He happened to have grown up reading the Werewolf by Night comics as well. So this project was definitely right up his alley.
