I liked this episode eventhough i do think it didn’t deliver enough as the finale of a season. And Rhaenyra and Alicent’s scene was also really absurd to me especially Alicent agreeing to the execution of her son eventhough she literally forced him on the throne bc of supposed danger that he would be in if Nyra became queen, which he didn’t even want in the first place. But oh well, it was well acted but very poor writing imo, and Alicent saying ‘come with me’ to Nyra was my final straw🤦♀️

2024-08-07 20:32:29 +0000 UTCYeah they became dependent on action because they could not write a story as good as George so then the action had less pay off or meaning. The brilliance of early thrones was we had a whole season of incredible politics and great dialogue pushing a story but the season would end with some action event to cap off that story that had been building (Ned, blackwater, red wedding, the wall). HOTD just kept building with no capstone to ignite the next part of the story, at least not as well as I'd hoped. Its like a run on sentence now, There isn't an obvious change in where season 1 ended and where season 2 ended. It's still just war is coming and I think they could've escalated the tension a bit more.

2024-08-07 18:48:33 +0000 UTCI personally loved this season, I don’t need explosions and battles to find the story entertaining (just my opinion.) Wasn’t the greatest, but I can see the vision they’re creating. When I rewatch the episodes, I pick up on little things and Easter eggs that I appreciate. Major difference between GOT and HOTD logistically is all the dragons. Those are really really expensive and time consuming. I have to cut them some slack because I know they were under budget and time constraints (booooo to HBO for that). The writers strike didn’t help either. Next year, we get to go back to Westeros in a new show, Knight of the 7 Kingdoms, so that should tide us over until til HOTD S3. Great reaction guys!!!

2024-08-07 17:02:12 +0000 UTCWhat’s crazy is when I’m re-watching GOT, the first 3 seasons are pretty slow comparatively (up till the RW)…it was a lot of strategy and politicking. Still entertaining, but nowhere near the blockbuster action of the later season, which ironically are panned as being the worst.

First, Rome, 2 seasons great historical fiction about Julius Caesar (aka Mance Rayder from GOT) Second, Deadwood, 3 seasons and a follow up movie, more historical fiction about the gold rush in the Dakota territory. Most realistic 'western' I've ever seen, great characters and story, definitely worth watching.

You have to ride your dragon after claiming it to solidify the bond so Rhaenyra used it to her advantage to bait him.

2024-08-06 22:07:10 +0000 UTCThe problem isn't we need battles to be entertained, it's that it feels like there was no pay off for any of the tension built up for 2 months. We got blue balled big time lol they skipped and pushed multiple battles out of order as well. IMO season 2 is inevitably gonna be viewed as the weakest by a mile even tho the episodes are all mostly great, it just lacked some substance. Season 3 is going to be total chaos because all these battles have to happen right now, they cant push stuff anymore

If this finale had some big battle at the end it would have tied it all together and made the last few episodes serve their role as table setters. But it was just more of the same. Also - season one ends with "we are on the verge of war" and season two ends with "we are on the verge of war". They really should have moved the story along more.

For all the girls you traumatized, I yelled HA 😭 call me evil but I do not feel bad for him. Yes he’s struggling, and at times do feel bad for him.. but for that.. I was like.. you get what you deserve 🤣 that part couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person, to me anyways.
