I’m almost a month late to this but I’d just like to say- Rhaenyra’s children aren’t bastards. They are acknowledged by the King, Laenor, and Corlys as Laenor’s children- that makes them legitimate. Harwin Strong may be their father by blood but with the acknowledgment of the King, they are legitimate.

What my other point here was if you are alicent, and you have heard even once viserys talk about his own vision of a male heir yet never heard of song of ice and fire,,, Its possible she MIGHT have thought about the male babe dream but in no world is it possible she couldve thought about a song of ice and fire. In conclusion, I am not saying THAT is what she thought. Maybe she just took it very literally that he is saying aegon should be king without thinking about male babe dream but in NO world is she going to guess he is talking about ASoIAF

Laughing at something doesn't draw attention away from the thing - it's literally the opposite, laughing CALLS attention to it. Daemon giggled because the situation is funny and absurd and he is Deamon who doesn't give a shit about decorum.

Not everything has to be some kind of calculation. Also, laughing at something doesn't distract from it - quite the opposite. Anyone who wasn't listening or was lost in their own thoughts would have perked up and started listening. Deamon laughed because it was funny. No distraction.

The entire fight started because he was putting down the girls dead mother, he hit both girls, calling the boys bastards and was threatening with a rock. Yes, the girl hit him first....after he provoked her...but she's a GIRL. I can't speak for anyone else but where I'm from...if you hit girls and then have a rock intending on busting skulls......you'll be lucky to only lose an eye. Aemond absolutely earned the dragon, though. He could've given time for her daughter to grieve and attempt to claim it but he claimed it properlyeither way. When talking to Vagar, he says, "Dohaeris" (serve or obey) "Lykiri" (calm down) and "Soves" (fly) I also think Alicent's kids have just had all of the succession and threats on their lives shoved down their throats for so long they can't get past it long enough to have a positive relationship with the other kids. Even Alicent wants to make peace and accept Rhaenyra as queen but Otto will not let up. Since Aemma passed....Otto's main concern in every choice he's made is achieving power by getting the throne. He's so much like Littlefinger.....or should I say Littlefinger is exactly like him. I mean....what kind of man pawns his teenage daughter off on a grown man like that for power? (Corlys wasn't any better) Otto was very manipulative moving in the shadows. Viserys obviously treats Rhaenyra differently. I believe that's because she's Aemma's daughter. Emma was his true love. Rhaenyra is also 100% Targaryen while his other children are 1/2 Targaryen and 1/2 Hightower. He's partial to her though it is unfair. 2 more to go....they're really good episodes so I'm excited! Great reaction! As always!

2024-06-20 12:47:29 +0000 UTCyou do have to remember back in episode 3, viserys told alicent that he had a dream that a male babe born to him wearing conquror's crown as he placed him on the iron throne. He told this to aemma in ep1 as well. who knows how many times alicent has heard that dream from viserys in all those years other than ep3. So if he randomly says another prophecy to alicent about song of ice and fire without context, in her mind he is still talking about the dream viserys had about his son on the throne and then he said the words like "You must do it" , "Aegon" etc. Its not far fetched that alicent assumed he wants prince aegon to be king after him.

It was to distract the attention off Rhaenyra and the kids to Daemon and to let Vaemond know Daemon sees what he's doing.

Did you notice how the people stood on opposite sides when Alicent sliced Rhaenyra arm. Blacks and the Greens. I can't stand Cristian Cole. I know that Rhaenyra had illegitimate children but Alicent her best friend was seeing Rhaenyra father and not telling her and doing her daddy's bidding, she knew it was wrong, if it wasn't wrong why not tell Rhaenyra. Viserys said my only child when he saw her after 6 yrs.

Ambition is not his downfall but the way he tries to obtain power. Instead of proposing the king marry alicent like every other lord did with their kids, he sends alicent in hours after the queens death to pretend like she cares. He cares for nothing but power even at the expense of his daughter. Yet you question lord corlys ambition even though he is willing to accept a bastard child as heir. It was not just to keep the bloodline going but he clearly stated he didn’t want to cast a dark shadow over Luke and Jace. His son claimed them as his true born sons and he is honoring that.

Just because they showed her pregnant belly first before showing her other two kids with Deamon doesn't mean there was yet another time jump within this episode. There wasn't. They did the same thing in the first episode with the adult Rhaenyra (ep 6). They showed her giving birth. Then when you get to her quarters you see that she already had Jace and Luke.

Couples are allowed to disagree or argue without their marriage being put into question. Sorry but it's wild to me that you think he doesn't love her because of a single convo.

She is a true born Targ in his eyes, from a marriage of love not a political one, hence he called her “his only child”. Viserys dont care about Alicent’s kids. Btw in the throne room you can see “the blood of the dragon runs thick”. Basically all the Targs stood up for each other for Luke.

Viserys was close, but he is also too accommodating to keep the peace. When everyone is so flawed, as these characters are, it is hard to find one worth rooting for. I like Daemon, he is the most compelling character, but he is still a jerk. This show lacks and needs a Jon Snow...

Since Lucerys is betrothed to Rhaena who has Velaryon blood the next heir to driftmark would be a velaryon in name and blood so Vaemond just wanted the title and didn’t let it go lol

Viserys seems to favor rhaenrya more than his other children. He even tells rhaenrya, “my only child.” Which is pretty sad for his other kids lol. Plus alicent had her kids out of duty (I’m not saying she doesn’t love her kids, she does) and rhaenrya had hers out of duty as well but also for love. And idk it just goes to show how the kids were raised. Also aegon and heleana are married if you guys didn’t know, that’s why she says what she says when she’s toasting to baela and rhaena. And why jace asked to dance with her because he felt bad. Also, sorry one more thing, aegon and heleana already have two kids together, just in case you guys get confused later when they show them.
