Love watching movies from when we are 2! This was a good time!
Thanks for recommending this one!
If you're really interested In having a list of movies you've watched check out the Letterboxd app, that's what I do to keep track of all the movies I've watched or want to watch.
Eta: the first marvel movie I actually sat down and watched (in the theater too) was infinity war. One of the best experiences I've ever had watching a movie as well, immediately hooked on marvel.

1994 was one of the best years for cinema in modern history no matter what your taste in movies was. Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, The Lion King, Clerks, Ace Ventura, Natural Born Killers, Speed, The Hudsucker Proxy… just an absolutely unmatched year maybe ever since. If you’re game to continue your Tarantino journey, I’d suggest Kill Bill (Vol 1 & 2) next - also with Uma Thurman, then Once Upon A Time In Hollywood with Brad Pitt and Leo, then Inglorious Basterds which is a great WWII movie (also w/ Pitt). If you watch Tarantino’s movies closely enough you’ll notice he LOVES one-takes, but they’re not showy. They’re simple and elegant and don’t distract from the story. I’m glad you liked Pulp. I was worried with the language it might not be up your alley.

True Romance is one of my all time favorite movies! The cast is amazing, the writing is so good, the score is on point, it’s all just so cool 😁
I hope they are able to watch it at some point, it is truly a Tarantino classic done right by the awesome directing talents of Tony Scott!

An often forgotten Quentin Tarantino film is “Four Rooms” from 1995.
Tarantino is actually one of four different directors that worked on this film.
The movie is broken up into 4 separate short stories/films that all take place in one location on New Year’s Eve.
Each story was written and directed by a different creator.
The film got mixed reviews, but I have always enjoyed its talented stacked cast and quirky dark comedy. Might be worth a watch for New Year’s.

That was so much fun!!!
I love watching first time reactions to this movie!
This movie was definitely influential to the film industry and pushed some movie making boundaries for sure.
It was also a critical and commercial success and earned 7 Oscar nominations, including a best actor nomination for John Travolta, best supporting actor nomination for Samuel L. Jackson, and a best supporting actress nomination for Uma Thurman.
Tarantino won the Oscar for best original screenplay and was nominated for best director and the film itself was nominated for best picture.
Pulp Fiction wouldn’t be the last of Tarantino’s films to earn major awards, he has had multiple nominations and wins over the years for his writing & filmmaking.
Samuel L. Jackson was famous prior to this movie, but this was the role that really launched him into the superstar stratosphere and cemented his persona as the coolest actor working in the business to this day!
Tarantino had actually wrote the character of “Jules” with Jackson in mind, however the studio still made Jackson audition for the part. When Jackson showed up for the audition they mistook him for a different actor.
The identity mixup made Jackson so mad that it helped him get more into character and nail the audition, proving that NO ONE else could ever be “Jules Winfield” except the man Tarantino had envisioned in the role from the beginning, the one, the only, the ultimate “Bad Mother Fucker”,
Samuel L. Jackson!
-Favorite Samuel L. Jackson movies:
“A Time to Kill” (1996)
“The Long Kiss Goodnight” (1996) this is a good one to watch for the Christmas/Holiday season.
“The Negotiator” (1998)
*my other favorite Sam Jackson movie is listed below under one of the other actors, I will let which movie be a surprise for when you guys get around to watching it 😉
-Favorite Bruce Willis movies:
“Die Hard” (1988)
“Color of Night”(1994) I prefer the unrated extended director’s cut of this movie.
“12 Monkeys” (1995)
“Die Hard with a Vengeance” (1995)
this is the 3rd installment of the “Die Hard” franchise.
-Favorite John Travolta movies:
“Grease”(1978)
“Look Who’s Talking” (1989)
“Michael” (1996)
“Face/Off”(1997)

Agreed. Kevin Smith is another film maker that had his big break out in the early 90’s and also helped to normalize everyday conversations in film dialogue and writing, imho anyway 😉
I would love to see the Octobers check the View Askewniverse at some point.

Can’t wait to watch this after work!
I LOVE Tarantino’s movies!!!
I was 13 or 14 years old when I first watched “Pulp Fiction”.
My older Sister has seen it in theaters and said I just had to see it!
So when it came out on home video she rented it for us to watch. It was the first Tarantino movie I ever saw and I loved it! I have been a fan of his movies ever since.
My all time favorites of his works are “True Romance” from 1993, and “Reservoir Dogs” from 1992.
Tarantino didn’t direct “True Romance” he only wrote the script/screenplay and ended up selling it in order to help fund the making of his directorial debut and my other favorite film of his “Reservoir Dogs”.
Tarantino is one of the best and most influential directors/writers of our time. I’m very happy you guys are dipping your toes into his filmverse!

He’s gotten a lot of criticism for that in this movie in particular. I think he just tried really hard to be edgy as he was still a new writer and director at this time or even just to make you understand these characters are not good guys. He’s obviously the type that pushes stuff like this to the max especially in Django but I suppose it makes sense in that movie.

OK I love Tanrantino movies but I absolutely think there is an issue with his overuse of the N-word. I was around in the 90s, even then, it was NOT common (at least in my world) to hear white people use the hard R. The way he crammed it into his own lines at the end was just over the top and seemed like he was just getting off on being able to say it.

The thing that was kind of "boundary pushing" for its time in Pulp Fiction was the dialogue. It was very natural feeling in a way that wasn't really done pre-90's. Before then you would never see a scene with two guys talking about burgers that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie, but it humanizes the characters to a degree and just makes it feel very real.

I was living in Japan in the early-mid 90s so I had never heard of Pulp Fiction, and I went to the video store and saw a movie with Bruce Willis on the cover and brought it home to watch, having no idea what I was in for (I thought it was just some random Bruce Willis movie), and I was blown away. I loved it.

One of the things you might have missed though is just these older movies aren't really going to lay it all out for ya. They're so talked about to this day because when they came out it was novel and buzzworthy. People could spend forever discussing themes and theories, conclusions, meaning etc. And they didn't have the Internet to do it faster or with specified groups hyperfixated on dissection.
In this day and age of mostly nods and remakes, you can't always know how heavily influencing these novelties were to culture and zeitgeist in general but I'll shush now.

I've watched others say they flat out "hate musicals" and everything you're saying, but they appreciate Grease 1 at least. Give it a shot, Brooke would love it. It's silly only in a dated kind of way, but a good story and such.

Haha I get it im about to bring out the bong for Pulp Fiction later when i get off work. I bet Scorsese has all sorts of bangers that I'm forgetting but Goodfellas is probably his best work in my book! That or Wolf of Wallstreet.
Tarantino Is harder to vote on...I say the full Kill Bill story so part 1 and 2 together would be my favorite! How about you?

I almost could recite this entire movie. It gets even better each time you watch it. However, as a fellow editor, it’s like seeing it 20 times anyway during the editing process.

Can't wait to watch later! Since relatively new here, not sure what Tarantino movies you may have seen, but be sure not to miss his "Reservoir Dogs", "Inglorious Bastards, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", "Django Unchained", "The Hateful Eight" and "Death Proof". He wrote and starred in the action-horror film From Dusk till Dawn, really good!
