Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9 Rains of Castamere

This episode was the most tramatic sh*t i have seen on TV so far....

wow just wow.

Had to break it up into 2 parts!

Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9 Rains of Castamere

Comments

People like to walk the line with spoilers. No foreshadowing in the comments. Got does that enough

Jay Owin

Mrs. Frey is probably the only one she helped this whole show

Milf and Cookies

yeah bad timing for sure

Mr. October

oh yeah i do remember that

Mr. October

Catelyn didn't kill anyone, apart from poor Mrs. Frey. Directly or indirectly

Victatchewan

By kidnapping Tyrion and starting a war knowing her husband and daughters are in Lannister land pretty much alone and defenseless

Milf and Cookies

I enjoyed the reaction but that’s so so whack that someone would tell you to “look out for a song” or anything big like that. Just let them watch the show y’all

All See’er

Robb😔 my goat.

Brandon Martinez

I had to wait until today to watch this, because I have to be in the right mindset to watch it again. Her scream kills me every time! This is the first time I haven't taken my headphones off so I don't have to hear it. Anyone who watches GoT reacts braces themselves for this episode from s1 ep1 so y'alls reaction is not at all off, it's traumatizing for sure. Y'all are literally doing this channel because ✨this episode✨ started react videos.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Most reactors are speechless and just turn it off, I still have a hard time rewatching. Readers said they threw their books and refused to continue for awhile. Rewatch Tywins conversation with Cersei before this, I can't remember which episode. There's also a moment way back when you can see Roose realize Robb's probably going to lose. I think you said you saw that Walder had been insulted for generations, so yeah it was a long time coming, and that's the point of this series. Actions lead to consequences. You don't really have to choose or "get behind" anyone, just observe that message. Kill your heroes, not because it means nothing, but because that's not how life works, it's more muddy than that. And at least I wasn't excited for your hearts to break, I was nervous and anticipating. I feel bad for anyone any time they become no longer "sweet summer children". GREAT REACTION! TOP TIER! KILLING IT! 😭😅

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Fair enough! I don't blame Robb for wanting to be in love, by the way. He was a good guy with good intentions. Bad timing.

Matthew Bailey

haha gotta wait a few days to even look at that one i keep wanting to cry thinking about it

Mr. October

yeah she did do that too. but why did she kill ned? i know she gave up jamie but i missed where she betrayed ned

Mr. October

i think i’ll be the same emily forever this episode will get me too lol

Mr. October

also killing Lord Karstark added to their demise little things along the way added to our pain and suffering. Also, at the beginning of the wedding they ate salt and bread it’s a guest rule that you will not be harmed in the place you’re a guest in, so Walder frey broke that rule.

StephL

Gave Jon the pox

thebirdcatcher1

Reaction 10/10. End scene hit harder now than it did when watched this alone years ago.

John H

💯 agree Mr October, the evil characters are the most engaging , as are the actors who portray them , so talented. This scene is always so harrowing, no matter how many times I've watched it.

Wendy McIntyre

Every character in this show is a murderer 😅 there are no good people. Jaime is a good character. Hero and also a villain.

Monkey D. Tomy

I have seen this episode so many times and I still cried with you Mrs. O 🤣🤍

Emily P

Yeah, Jaime had no idea

Emily P

Catelyn is the greatest Stark killer first she kills Ned then Robb and his army

Milf and Cookies

There is absolutely no evidence in the show that Jaime knew about the planned massacre by The Freys.

Matthew Bailey

Someday you guys will probably re-watch the show and when you do, you'll notice a few foreshadowing moments where you can see Robb clearly fucking up and disregarding his war to be in love instead. Mrs. October noticed a couple of them already. Love is the death of duty.

Matthew Bailey

The reason Frey could pull this off is that he violated a big rule of Westeros, as their host his duty was to protect them. It was a rule that was never violated, until then, which is why the entire army's guard was down, they all thought they were with allies. And the Rains of Castamere, as Cersei said, was about the second most powerful family in a kingdom that was wiped out by the most powerful...they played it for a reason.

Peter K

Yea you right ngl I forgot the karstarks deserted lmao

sam cameron

It’s not that ‘bad’ people are necessarily rewarded in this world. Actions have consequences. ‘Good’ people tend to prioritize love, family, honor etc over sheer strategic advantage. We saw this from Ned, catelyn, and Robb. You’ll catch more than a few Ws during the journey, just keep your head on a swivel in the meantime! Season 4 is my favorite season of any show.

Pete Befi

Man this is such an emotional episode no matter how many times I've seen it. Great reaction as always. I cried with you Mrs. October, don't be too upset with us! Lol this one is a right of passage in the GOT universe.

Erin Renee

Ramsey once said, "if you think this has a happy ending, you are not paying attention"

Flexorcist

From the end of the chapter which was written in Catelyn’s perspective: That made her laugh until she screamed. "Mad," someone said, "she's lost her wits," and someone else said, "Make an end," and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she'd done with Jinglebell, and she thought, No, don't, don't cut my hair, Ned loves my hair. Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold.

Don Rivers

Sorry yall had to see this one but also it was so good to watch! I cried along with ya Mrs. October!

ShittyShittyGameGang

After this episode, George R. R. Martin went on Conan (10 years ago) and said “now you know why your nerdy friends were depressed 13 years ago”. [Wait does that mean this book (A Storm of Swords) came out 23 years ago? OMG it came out in 2000.]

Don Rivers

If Mrs. October cries, I cry. She was right to cry. She was right to honor these characters. This was a Tywin & Vladimir Bolton & Frey Production. Bolton presented it to Jaime while he was holding him. Basically, I'll give you back to your family if your father can give me the North. Bolton knew that Frey was unhappy, that Robb's men weren't as confident and that there was a chance to take the North from Robb - with the backing of the Lannisters using Jaime as leverage. Of course Jaime went along with it. He wanted to live. And this is where I like to name that this show isn't really about war. It's about politics and sociology. The war has so often proved to be moved by tricks off the battlefield, rather than might on it. Being smart is a better resource than being good in war. Robb made a dumb mistake. Ned made a dumb mistake. Robb was a great war time strategist. But he didn't know what kind of game everyone else was playing. Ned was a good soldier. But he didn't know how politics or humans actually worked. The only person in this show using muscle to CONQUER - is Dany. Because Dany don't live in Westeros.

Crissi

I can't remember any scene in any movie or TV show as savagely brutal than the last one. It's haunted me since the first time I saw it. It's now known as "the Red Wedding".

Jim Schmitz

Robb had double the men before any battles which lost him over 2000 alone. Then the Karstarks abandoned him which was half his forces. Robb needed Walders bridge and men, he even said that in the tent with his wife when he first decided to take Casterly Rock.

Gnarlybudz

This is exactly what I couldn’t find a way to put into words. Well put!

Gnarlybudz

His acts have been atrocious, but that's the entire point. It's not to debate whether they're justified or excuse them, it's just to observe his character motivations and influences on them, and understand the complexity of the human spirit. For some reason people conflate understanding with permission, idrky, but imo it's possible to just observe reasoning, leaving it at that, without going anywhere near condoning.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

No, Jaime didn't know what Bolton was up to when he told him, "tell him the Lannisters send their regards". He was not in on the plan.

Matthew Bailey

Y'all were right. Robb was just too young. He had everything but the wisdom. RIP to little Ned and all the rest of them but most of all Robb. You're a legend BB

Sir_Dalagad

He didn't push Bran because he was ashamed of his incest, he pushed him because of "the things he does for love". Meaning "the things he does for his family", like Tywin, and Cersei, who he's trauma bonded with. Tywin has instilled in him since childhood that loyalty to upholding their family is the most important. All Jaime wanted was to be an honorable knight, but he has struggled since he was an adolescent sworn to the Kingsguard with the contradictions that arise while doing a knights duty. "If your precious Renly asked you to kill your own father, and watch while millions of people die, would you do it?" In other words --if you were someone's sworn shield and they asked you to do despicable things even to your own family, would you do it out of honor of your duty? Jaime grabbed Bran and was going to talk to him as he does, but Cersei kept yelling "he saw us", meaning, if you truly care about me and our family, you will not allow this boy to tell someone who might tell Robert who would kill every last one of us including our children without a second thought. So, "for the love" of his family, against his own desire, he did what needed to be done to protect them. Just as he killed the mad king to protect others. GRRM's point with Jaime's character is that sometimes the things you do to protect others will be despicable. Jaime hates this and that's why he is so sarcastic all the time. He hates his life and his duty to his family, and his enmeshment with his sister. You can definitely believe whatever you want, but you might be focusing too much on the incest, when it's less about personal shame and gain, and more about the pitfalls of neglecting one's own true desires, to serve and protect others desires.

Lady Stoneheart (Uncat)

Eh. It's reductive to say Jaime is just evil at heart. Because if we suggest that saving millions of people isn't balanced against other sins, then that kind makes everyone else's moral standing kinda unimportant. Like, what does it matter if anyone does anything good if one sin is all it takes to condemn? We'd also have to accept that one (Joffery) can be acceptable by simply ONLY being a sinner and never going a Good Thing. But if neither these premises are agreeable/true, then we have to assume there MUST levels or a spectrum of sins - which implies gray area for everyone. Just following the logic out, it doesn't work for me. Then, we have to consider the nature of storytelling and character development - are we allowing it to happen? Or are all actions taken by a character in a narrative, at the moment the reader steps into the story, The Only Thing They Are? Is Jaime a good person? Or is Jaime a bad person? Or is Jaime a person who made good and bad choices and faces the consequences of both? I much prefer the third in terms of storytelling. So, I would say that it has less to do with Jaime and more to do with your preference in storytelling.

Crissi

Yes I get your point. Not saying Jamie is good as I agree he’s quite bad over all. But at least his bad has purpose. He pushed Bran to cover the fact that he’s banging the Kings wife whom he loves. He didn’t necessarily enjoy it. If Bran told everyone what he saw then Cersei and Jamie would be killed. You said you like Jeoffry even though he finds interests in torturing people for his own amusement at ZERO benefit to himself. This is all just fun debate about a fictional show 👍

Gnarlybudz

Robb didn’t need walders men he just needed the bridge Theon pointed out in season one that they could take the castle because they hade double the men because robb was marching towards tywin. walder was right tho in this episode if Robb wanted to hide her he shouldn’t have brought her their.

sam cameron

Remember the guy torturing Theon said "If you think this has a happy ending then you've not been paying attention" Truest quote in the show lol this episode until the end of season 4 is my favorite television ever made Also the thing about nobody to get behind and all that you just got to think this isn't some super hero story, its very grounded and almost true to life. The world isn't run by good honest people.

Christian

Thank. Jaime is trash. He murdered a child to cover up a monstrous act he was commiting (incest AND treason) and people are like, well he was trying to save his family. Huh. It's wild that people think a monstrosity is defensible because it's done to cover up... a prior monstrosity.

Julien

OK, lets get this over with so I can move on...

Jim Schmitz

We were going to watch the next one immediately, but to be honest, we just needed a second to dissect it

Mr. October

All love Derek of course! Feel free to argue with me it’s fun! Trust me I’m just calling it how it is see it, as are you. I love that you care enough to engage so by all means.

Mr. October

Not saying that he’s not capable of feeling remorse are doing good. These are none of that, but what I’m saying is I don’t think that he is going to redeem himself good enough to make up for the evilness that I have already seen him commit but maybe I could be wrong.

Mr. October

Would that mean said Jamie literally murdered a child or try to just because he wanted to bang his sister he doesn’t get a pass for that just because he has highborn or the kings guard. So I just don’t like people who pretend like they’re good when they’re really just evil at heart like Jamie obviously is.

Mr. October

I feel like you two are one of the most engaging reaction channels out there and I love the Patreon chat at the beginning of your vids :D

Reaction Junkie

So, I have just finished listening to the content discussion before starting the episode and just wanted to say you both are awesome and are killin’ it with all the work and effort you put into what you’re putting out there. I can’t wait to see this reaction, but just wanted to say thank you before I start. Let’s bring on the Red Wedding….again!

Chris Knuth

Can be considered “no longer a sweet summer child”… almost. Valar Morghulis

Flexorcist

Mr October come on. Jamie is a murderer because he’s trying to serve a purpose such as save kings landing from certain doom or because he’s escaping being a highly targeted prisoner of political value. He’s a dog eat dog type of warrior. Jeoffry is a murderer because he’s bored, vicious and wants to “pick the wings off flies.” How can you hold him above Jamie who has proven his honor thus far? Would Jeoffry jump into a bear pit to save Margery or even his own mother? Jeoffrys character by this point was created to be an absolute evil. Did you even see what Jeoffry did to Ros?……just tryna get a good debate goin

Gnarlybudz

Oh I'm excited....been waiting for this! I know it was rough for you guys! Just keep in mind that they say this is one of the top 10 episodes of the show....imagine what happens in the other 9! Thank you!

Jessica Houser

Oh man, I'm sure all of us have been waiting on this since ep. 1. So looking forward to this. Thanks guys!

JJ Carlisle
