I've seen a few other Linux YTers talking about their analytics and it made me want to share some of mine as well as my perspective.
As you can see from the post image, the video I did about Egee and furry stuff did rather poorly and it has resulted in a net loss of subscribers.
I am happy with that!
As I said in the video, if people don't dig the furry thing or the episodic non-review format of the Distro Delves show, by all means, please unsubscribe.
If you tuned in for the Live Stream last Saturday, we had a troll from the Arch community pop in and try to flip me a bunch of shit about the video I did on the Zen Installer.
I don't want those types of viewers subscribing to the channel.
From my perspective, it all comes down to optics. If being a furry and having unpopular opinions about certain Linux distros causes people to jump ship, I'm totally OK with that.
Compared to my contemporaries, the Egee channel is tiny considering it started in 2014. Linux-focused YT channels that started years after me have significantly more viewers and subscribers than mine does.
But I think my channel appeals to a different kind of Linux user or tech consumer. More specifically, my content doesn't appeal to the script kiddies and literal kids who use Linux just to impress their friends.
I try to create content that people care about and want to see more of, not just random videos talking about random stuff that they watch because they can't find anything else.
It goes without saying that I care and value each and every one of you so much because you guys are exactly who I create content for!
Thank You! You all are π―π―
