I haven't been quite this disappointed in a distro in a long time.
The work that Zorin put into the appearance and style of the desktop is nothing short of impressive. The desktop itself is beautiful; no doubt about that.
Everything else is just... Gnome. And the worst parts about Gnome, too.
I've talked about how Budgie is basically just Gnome with a different panel but Solus with Budgie makes a lot of changes to the desktop and the app selection. Zorin is literally just Gnome.
Zorin OS has another version called Zorin Lite which I would love to review in the future. Instead of Gnome, it is based on Xfce, which is bound to be orders of magnitude more usable.
I get the feeling that Mr. Zorin is a designer or a web developer, not a distro maintainer. Some of the issues I encountered were just... weird. For example, the Snap issue where the folders aren't immediately accessible. Or the appearance app straight up crashing the desktop.
Zorin OS Core is the most disappointing Linux distro I've reviewed on the series. I'd like to give Zorin another chance with Zorin OS Lite but with so many other distros in the pipeline, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
