End of the Egee.io Blog

The time has come to put an end to the official Egee.io blog.

I relaunched the Egee.io website with the intent of running a blog from there to help generate traffic for "things" connected to the website (such as the YouTube channel).

I talked about the structure of the website in detail in a previous post but basically its a Jekyll site so it's built with blogging and SEO support (or so I thought).

I wrote two blog posts: One for installing the Sims 4 on Linux, and another for installing Overwatch on Linux. Granted, these are 2 different games but, based on the popularity of the YouTube videos I published about the same topics, they get roughly the same amount of interest.

I published the post about the Sims 4 on the Egee.io website blog. Here's how it did:

The Overwatch post was published on Medium and look at how it did:

Not to mention, Medium provides a wealth of information about traffic, audience, etc. This information helps me fine-tune articles and topics to produce content people want to consume. Google Analytics does the same sort of thing but it is significantly more verbose and really difficult to parse.

Medium is replacing the Egee.io blog but it's not the Egee.io blog. I might keep community announcements or something there, though I feel like the Egee.io subreddit might be a better place for that.

tl;dr - The Egee.io website blog is being discontinued and the content I would normally post there will probably be posted on Medium instead.
