I've had my mind on a new benchmark/comparison series for years. Some of my most popular videos have been desktop & distro comparisons but these types of videos are really difficult to make.
On the surface, it's just a comparison video.. Take two desktops (or whatever) and put them against each other, right?
I mean, yeah, that's basically it.
But how do you feature them together in a single video?
Doing side-by-side footage is surprisingly tricky; I spent at least an hour trying to figure out the best way to put the two terminals side by side and I'm not super happy with the outcome. Part of the problem is that I didn't film the footage with this in mind.
I've also never featured gameplay footage side-by-side. In previous videos, I would simply "wipe" between different footage, but that is such a lame way of doing it.
For Bunchmarks episode 0, I decided to sit down and really focus on figuring out the best way of presenting the data in a video format. I'm happy enough with the video but there are definitely improvements to be made.
Future Brunchmark episodes will follow the same general format but I'll be capturing footage with this format in mind - the side-by-side comparison thing.
I'm going to be posting these little blogs to both, Patreon & Ko-Fi. Not only does it help with SEO to cross-post the video all over the place but writing these posts gives me a chance to retrospect about the video in a public way whilst allowing feedback from people if they want.
And as such, let me know if you guys have any comments or feedback for me!
