It's September already, which means its time to do the September Channel Digest!
Wait, what is a channel digest?
The monthly channel digest is a Patreon post where I talk about the happenings around the channel; past, present, and current.
This post is also a chance for you guys to ask questions or provide feedback about the channel, videos, or really anything you want.
August was a hectic month IRL, but I still managed to put a video out. A simple "channel retrospective" video, but my first real video since June.
I didn't do much work on my Open Source projects, either. Just basic maintenance and some Linode stuff. We switched the server OS from Ubuntu to Arch, that was pretty cool.
I started using my Macbook more and I edited the most recent EgeePlays video with iMovie. Can't say I love it but it was good practice if I want to use it again in the future
I'll be starting the new "schedule" this month! I've got a backlog of videos planned but I don't know when I'll get around to making them.
I've been putting a lot of energy into the upcoming video series around benchmarking. I'll be starting with Linux distro vs distro but I want to start comparing MacOS vs Linux, and of course, Windows vs Linux.
In terms of the community:
I'm anxious to see how the new series does. If people really dig it, I want to brainstorm about other series' to do. I find it much more enjoyable to do themes or series' of videos, rather than one-off videos.
I've got a couple OSS projects in mind but I never seem to have the time or motivation to work on them. I've got one particular project in mind for the channel - basically a GUI wrapper for the Phoronix Test Suite, but suited specifically to help me do benchmarks for the video series. Stay tuned for more info on that.
I hope you guys enjoy the digest. Be sure to ask questions or give me any feedback you have!
