House of Greens

My first real illustration this year ; u;) Apparently there's an abandoned botanical garden in Berlin, I saw photos of it and loved all the greens and the turquoise glass and the old, dirty gold, and I could just imagine Jasper being in a place like that, surrounded by plants and soft light. He's fond of the outdoors and nature in general, so surely he'd enjoy sitting there for an hour or two, just listening to the birds in the area and the sounds they make when they move through the trees and leaves. 🍃

This drawing quickly turned into a challenge for me to work on my background skills, because I tend to overrender them a lot and focus too much on details and then the end result is an overload of things and colours and doesn't look good at all :'I

So I tried hard to keep it more simple this time, stick to only a few colours, think a little more about contrast and instead of rendering every tiny leaf, make a little more use of shapes. There's still a lot to improve and I didn't achieve anything amazing but for now I am quite happy with the result and I feel like I have found a starting point I can work with!
