february 2018 sketches (+PDF)

i hardly even remember anything from february but mostly, i think, it was a month of re-learning how to draw, getting back to my usual groove, thinking about my characters. i didn't even sketch a single fanart that month, which rarely ever is the case.

the first half of the month was dedicated to jasper & kai:

i just wanted to draw kai's face, then thought maybeee i could turn this into a somewhat decent illustration but felt embarrassed by the motif immediately and just left it like this. he was supposed to be holding a glass globe, maybe with a bunny inside? kind of as a way to show this fragile connection to jasper that he's gingerly holding close to his heart idek as i said it felt too cheesy and cringy so i dropped it ;;;;

emma, my sweet summer child. her hand is dissolving into nothingness for unknown reasons. i've posted this here before but it seemed appropriate to include it again. there can never be enough of her imho 🔥

another illustration draft?? the thing they're sitting on is supposed to become a fountain in the future, with lotsa tiny water splashes all around them \o/ i'll do anything for sparkles in my art. this was also a practise piece for me, to see if i'm even still able to draw full-body stuff half decent OTL

the valentine's day sketch \o/ an excuse to draw something calm and soft and also something that i could finish easily and without having to use too much brainpower, because gods know i didn't have any left at that point.

moving on to my vintage boys....!

misha in his natural habitat: frilly clothes, eyes closed, floating around somewhere like the actual angel he is. i wanna finish this one at some point, put a big red glowing sun in the background and play with lighting a lot.

will and misha <3 i don't think i've introduced will properly to anyone so far. he and misha share an important connection, although they'll never even meet once in the story.

as you might know, ayden is a sky pirate, they don't really have one specific uniform but they (and their people as a whole) do have a thing with birds/wings/feathers; he and the crew will often be wearing wing-like capes and hoodies. this sketch was mainly for me to try and sketch out a bunch of outfits for him that i could use in the comic at some point.
