art summary & 2017 review

2017 was A Year.

a lot of bad things happened all around the world but i think, on a personal level, it was a pretty decent year for me.

while i had had plans to become self-employed for a while already, i was still pushed into it very suddenly and without a lot of time to think it through One Final Time and while that was scary as hell, i think in the end it was the best thing that could have happened, who knows if i'd ever done it without that final push.

while this year was filled with more work &anxiety and more sleepless nights/days than any other year before, i have never felt more passion for what i'm doing, because finally i can put my entire focus on creating. and despite all the flaws my work has, i think it shows. i'd pick the uncertainties that come with being self-employed over any of the jobs i've done before any time, at least now i know what i'm working my butt off for and feel like what i'm doing has any value. and a big part of that are the people who have supported me throughout the year - all of you ; -;)

there was so much support from all over the place, be it feedback, shares or financially. i couldn't have done it without all of you!

i changed directions multiple times this year and i'll change them again starting january; i'll stop doing commissions almost entirely, instead i will make patreon and comics my main points. i have a lot of plans for next year, i want to get far enough with #muted to get it printed; either the entire story or a first volume, depending on how the plot develops. i'd also like to... maybe... make small amounts of very limited #muted merch 👀 but that idea is still in its baby shoes.

i also desperately want to make at least one fanbook next year. definitely an ignoct/ffxv book. (and chocobro charms) i've been brainstorming for a while and have a few ideas, so please look forward to that as well!

the next few days i'll try to take things slowly, let the year end in slow-motion after hustling at 4x speed for 12 months, get in some more self-indulgent art, spend some time with the last couple remaining commissions, and then...... FULL POWER AGAIN STARTING JANUARY !!!!! wheezes 

(also, as a reminder to myself that i wasn't as lazy as my brain always likes to tell me, a list of various art stuff i did in 2017:

• 150+ pages of comics [juminzen + ignoct + original]
• 100+ commissions
• 190+ doodles &finished illustrations

ANYWAY, thank you guys so much, i hope you spend new year's eve surrounded by people you love and i hope you'll stay with me in 2018 as well! i'll do my best for both you and myself 💕💕💕
